Edge, buy low now? (1 Viewer)

After today's awful showing, is it time to make a move for edg? He's got a fairly easy schedule and Leinart is coming into his own, the offense should get moving.

I've got Caddy who's got a tough scedule ahead and he's coming off two decent weeks. Now might be my last chance to trade him.

Well, if you're buying...it certainly isn't high. I wouldn't buy or sell. You can't get much for him, and he's not worth parting with much to acquire. If he's someone else's headache, leave him there.

Unless you think the Arizona O-line is going to markedly improve between now and the rest of the season, I don't know what good Edge can do you. No holes = no yards.

Absolutely. The signs were there all preseason that Edge was going to struggle. According to advanced statistics, last year no other RB was more dependent on his offensive line to get yards than Edgerrin James (the Colts led the league in % of rushing yards that occurred within 10 yards of the LoS, a stat that generally indicates very good blocking by the OL and an RB who isn't good at breaking it once he hits the second level). At the same time, no other team in the league had a worse run-blocking offensive line than Arizona. 'Zona was last in the league in conversion rate on 3rd or 4th down runs with 2 yards or fewer to go (power situations). Arizona had the highest percentage of its runs go for 0 or negative yardage. Arizona had the fewest yards per carry. Only 3 other teams had a larger percentage of their rushing yards come 10+ yards past the LoS (meaning the only time 'Zona was getting yardage was if they managed to break a big one). And all of this happened despite the fact that Arizona had far and away the most skewed pass:run ratio in the entire league (meaning defenses *NEVER* stacked the box, and were playing pass all the way).Since his ACL injury, no RB in the NFL has been more reliant on his offensive line for success than Edgerrin James. This isn't to say that he's a bad back- he's phenominal in blitz pickup, has great hands, and has amazing vision and awareness. If a hole opens, Edge will see it and hit it in a hurry. Regardless, no RB in the league was more dependent on having the hole open in the first place, though. At the same time, Arizona's offensive line was HISTORICALLY bad. This whole Edgerrin James expiriment was doomed from the get-go. Now's not a time to buy-low if you don't own Edge... now's a time to be damn grateful that you didn't get him in the first place.

I'd put him in the "Don't waste a kicker for him" category.
:goodposting: it's really a joke how awful that situation is...is anyone else blown away by 36 rushes for 50something yards? i mean wtf???
