Electronic Cigarettes (5 Viewers)

I got my new batteries from Bloog. The XL is huge. Especially when I put a mega carto on it. I really like the look of the RED blank cartos I got too. I should be set for a while now with 3 minis and my XL. At least until I get a REO Grande this weekend.
Your 808s will start collecting dust after that. The only times I use them are at work (I don't think people are ready to handle the mod yet - looks too much like you're doing something illicit) and when I go to amusement parks. if I worked from home or could easily use the Grand at work, I'd have already sold off all my 808s.

I can't speak to other mods, but if a juice feeder is what you're looking for, you may want to wait. The Grand is amazing. The thing is solid as hell, so easy to clean and maintain that it's not even worth discussing, fires EVERY time, never leaks, feeds beautifully, no wires, looks great. I can't say enough about it. Dollar for dollar, I may be more satisfied with this than anything else I've ever purchased.

There may be other equivalent/better juice feeders out there, I don't know. All I'm saying is that if your research pointed you towards the Grand, you don't want to buy a lesser product to get it a week sooner.

So, as my luck would have it, as soon as ordered some blank carts from Litecigusa.net, Ikenvape gets more MEGA KR-808's in!!

http://www.litecigusa.net/kr808d_1_cartomizer_p/premkrblankcart.htm

These are the carts I got and have been using them for 2 days. The initial fill (about 15 drops) almost lasted a full day. The atomizer seems a little beefier than the V4L's, and there appears to be more "filler" to absorb the juice. They're barely bigger than the WOW carts, like 1/8", if that. They hit smoothly, produce good vapor, and run cooler than the V4L's, IMO. Good carts, these will be my default carts if the KR-808's don't work well with my Buzz, which they should. As I said in my initial post, I'm not sure if there's any difference between these "premium" carts and their standard carts, which are $1 cheaper per 5.

Have 15 MEGA KR 808's on the way!!

Rovers, good tip on the 808/901 adapter.

I figure I'll use the 808s at work, in the car, and when I want to go light or need to stealth vape. The mod seems like it might be too distracting while driving.

Huge difference in the new cartos. I've pretty much been using the same Carts for almost a month and never realized how much the performance had decreased. Did I mention how much I love the red? It looks great with my silver batts. One thing I noticed with the new batts is the cutoff is much closer to 5 seconds. My first two were closer to 7.

My bet is you'll use the mod while driving. It's not distracting at all, a quick squonk and blast away. When you want to go light, you'll take less and/or smaller hits off of it. You'll use the 808s when you want to stealth vape and that's about it (actually, the Grand is small enough that you can be relatively stealthy if you have big enough hands.) The experience vs. the 808s with cartos is night and day.

Have any of you having trouble with the LR cartos on the V4L 808's told V4L about the problem? Those batts should work.

I remain very happy with my Buzz and the Ikenvape higher voltage megas. I have been using these Ikenvape cartos, three of them in a rotation for about a week and a half before cleaning them. I just keep topping them off with more juice, and I vape pretty heavilly. I have yet to refill a cleaned carto.

I'm looking to get one of these for my sister for her bday. Is there a general consensus on which one is best? I've read through some of this and am mostly clueless as to what you guys are talking about.

If you could let me know or point me to a page that discusses it I'd be thankful.

I agree with Stevie. Going a with a starter kit from v4l would probably be good. I would imagine not many women would feel comfortable with a Buzz (a larger thing that doesn't even try to look like a cig). I don't have the xl. Just the regular auto batteries from v4l and they serve my purpose just fine.A nice touch would be to find out what desserts your sister likes and get a few carts of similar flavors. Also the batteries (the long end of the e-cig) come in different colors. Also, you'll need to know how what kind of cigs she smokes to figure out what level of nicotine to purchase. I smoked camel lights and the 16mg is good for me.

Thanks guys. I already told her I was getting her this because I wanted to make sure she would use it. I'll take a look at the website and then ask her what flavors she wants.

Bravo on doing this for your sis. The V4L products worked great for me. I'd go with the manual xl Vapor King. It may be a bit bigger than she likes, and to Steevie's point may not be a huge difference over the standard battery, but my sense is bigger means stronger and the huge hurdle for a new user is having an experience that fills the void of cigs. As Steevie mentioned, her smoking habit will dictate the nicotine mg needs. If she is a pack a day smoker, I'd get her one cartomizer package of 18s and a second of 24s. If she's a lighter smoker, I'd get one of 12 mg and a second of 18. You wouldn;t want to get her 4 mgs as her initial experience will be that these don't fill the void. On cartomizer type, you'll probably want to stick with Premium/WOW and not go with the "VG" cartomizers. VG carts have more vapor, but may not give the 'throat hit' a person moving from cigs to vaping will really need. Higher nicotine mg level will equate to better throat hit. My post 498 on page 10 is what I would recommend for a newbie, but probably more than you want to get as a gift. Information you might pass along though. Good luck.ETA: Before you place an order, check in here and ask about sales. V4L almost always has sales running that are sent via email to prior buyers. I think "smilin15" is an ongoing 15% off everything you buy. Right now they have a 25% sale on any amount of cartomizers purchased, using promo code "juicecarts25" March 25-27. Almost weekly they have 15%-25% sales that would apply to an entire purchase, including a starter kit, but unfortunately only juice and carts are in this sale. So try smilin15 if you are buying this weekend and check back for a new sale code if you are buying after the weekend... save some $$.

Hey Dexter, both Cunk and Big Jim are right on the money with their recommendations as far as I'm concerned. The starter kits from V4L will get your sister off on the right foot for sure. Good product, excellent weekly deals and a plethora of flavors available. Tell her to also check out http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com as well. There’s tons of information, recommendations and just plain good people with vaping in common.

SO,

If you had to do it all over again, What would be in your first order?

(almost ready to pull the trigger. 20+ year smoker) Great thread guys, took me hours and a pack of smokes to read it. Ironically reading about not smoking makes you chain smoke.

If I had to start over, my first order would be an Ultimate XL Auto kit from V4L, a car adapter, and 2 or 3 extra packs of flavored 18 and 24mg carts (most likely sample packs). That would give me a couple weeks worth of supplies, and during those weeks I would re-order the flavors that I preferred (id buy juice and blank carts in my 2nd order).ETA: Ive been using my original V4L XL autos for almost 3 months now with no problems. Ive since added a Manual, and those 3 batteries are all I have needed and used, and I have no desire to move up to a bigger and better unit, these work and have worked perfectly for me.

I think the general consensus would be to start with a V4L starter kit. After that opinions will vary. Some of the guys really want a powerful battery, but I've actually been using the regular auto batteries most of the time. The XLs do have a little more power but I am fine with the regular autos. The USB passthru is great, and lets you charge your batteries when you are on the computer.

As far as flavors there are tons of opinions, but for me I love the coffee flavors, and WOW Cafe Mocha 100% VG is my favorite from V4L. You may eventually just want to buy the juices from someone else, but V4L is a great start.

I have moved on from ther V4L XL's, but that was a great place to start. You get a starter kit, and go from there. I smoked 2 1/2 to 3 packs of M'boro lights/day, and eventually had to go to 36mg nicotine to keep the sharks (urges) at bay, mostly for when I'm having coffee or a few brews. I started with 18 mg and it was tough. I vaped and smoked for 3 days, placed another order (more nicotine) and quit overnight, haven't had a puff since. (6 weeks, 2/10/11, and there are about 5 of us with that quit date)

So, I would place an order for your best guess at nic dosage, try it, adjust (order something different if needed) and then go for it. These things "hit" differently than butts, and the throat hit I got early on seemed to lose strength as I went, and I had to up my nic dosage. I think it's near impossible to avoid wasting at least a little money up front while you work to find what works for you, flavors, nicotine dosage, etc.

I'm 56, smoked Chesterfield non filters in the womb, lit up at ten, first pack at 12... and quit overnight with these. Never going back, not even to taste how nasty tobacco is. If I never take another puff, I can never go back to smoking. But, I'm about as hard a case as there is. Others have walked on what for me is very thin ice.

Got my first V4L juice order. I loaded up one Iken Mega KR-808 with premium Banana Foster 18 and a 2nd one with premium Capuccino 18... all I can say is WOW. I had no idea how much the Alien Vision juices were sandbagging the Ikens. The flavors of both are double, at least, what I was getting from prefilled carts. The inhales are full, TH of a 24, and oodles of vapor. At this point I'm not caring at all that I can't use the Ikens on PT, even my auto battery is hitting like Mike Tyson. I'll never buy prefilled V4L cartomizers again. You guys who had problems with the LR-808s, do not hesitate for one moment to get KR-808s. I'm going to buy a crapload more of these because they are the perfect compliment to the XL batty.

Got my Maxx Fusion today. Not noticing a big difference between it an my V4l auto batts.

One question- when I threw it on my V4L charger, it didn't seem like anything happened. There's no indicator light on the battery, and the charger light did not turn red. Any suggestions?

I've got 90ml of Backwoods Brew juice, and another 18ml of samplers from Alien Visions (Boba's Bounty, Gorilla Juice, and Havana Gold...all of which rock), all in 24mg. Next juice order I make will be at the 18mg mark. It's that time, and I think I'm ready for it. Drank inside a bar last night for two straight hours without even going outside to vape. That's incredible, and I'm taking it as a sign to move on down.

Why would you go outside to vape?
I live in NYC and I didn't wanna be that guy. Not a fan of attention.
Ah. I was sitting in a Waffle House vaping this morning, but I was being very discreet. Noone (even my wife, at first) had any idea.
A lot of times up here I'll just wait till it's time to head to the bathroom and bong that sucker out. I'll also vape on not-so crowded subways and wait a while to exhale (less vapor).

I have a similar problem going the other way. Charging the V4L battery on the Bloog charger works, but the indicators don't. I think you have to just slap it on overnight or for a few hours and then pull it off when you think it's charged. There's really no appreciable difference between the Bloog batteries and the V4L. It's the cartos that are much better.

Nice. Your vaping world is about to be turned on its head. I let my brother hit the Grand for the first time on Saturday and he was glued to me for the rest of the night. I'm pretty sure he hit it more often than I did. Actually started to get annoying after a bit.

It's mainly the cartos, but people have reported having a better experience by keeping the batt/cartos the same brand. I like the Bloog batteries better as far as texture/look and consistency (the V4L batteries I've had seem to choose not to fire from time to time, and/or sometimes the LED will start to dim after 1-2 seconds of a hit and I won't get a good pull.) The V4L XLs have a better duration and a longer cutoff, plus their CS, prices, and sales are far superior. You could make a case for either. It's the MaxxFusion cartos that, IMO, nuke the V4L cartos. They hit harder, hold more juice, last longer, are easier to fill, etc. I traded my 5 V4L Cafe Mocha WOW carts (which I hated) to my brother for 5 MaxxFusion RY4s (which he hated) a few weeks ago and he was thrilled with the trade based on flavor. Just Saturday, though, he was cursing me because the WOW carts were already hitting poorly and seemed "on the way out" after 2-3 fills, whereas I still have every single MF carto I've ever ordered. I have some I've filled 10-12 times since 2/2/11 that still work great.

Once that thing shows up...... and you get your atomizer primed..... and you strap it on..... and you get your favorite juice in the fill bottle..... and you take that one primer puff and release it without inhaling... stop for a second. Before you take that one blast that starts off your world of "dripping", look at your 808s and smile. Thank them for helping you kick cigarettes once and for all. Promise them you'll still use them when you need to grab something for "on the go." Then, put them away. Now, take that first blast off the REO. If it doesn't taste very good, give the atomizer a minute to adjust, squonk the bottle if needed, and hit it again. Now one more time. It'll settle in pretty quickly. Now sit back and enter a world of pure vaping bliss.Oh, and try not to enter a "vape coma" on day 1. Seems almost inevitable. Itching, sweating, mild nausea, anxiety - you'll probably feel any or all of these on day 1 until your body adjusts and/or you establish your new rhythm.

Can't wait! Should have it in my hands by Wednesday! :excited:

Gawd I love this place! Saw this thread Monday; three days of studying things and I'm just through page 8. A Lotta Stuff here!!

Situation:

I'm gonna get on this train too. I'm 56, been smoking since I was 15. Addicted to cigs at conception. (seriously)

Thanks for all the info folks...
This could be me. Grew up a military brat when cigarets were encouraged. Motivation:

And the #1 reason...My wife of 21-years, a life-long non-smoker, can't keep her hands off me since I switched...she can't believe how good I smell and taste!
Make no mistake about it!! :excited: I'm really psyched!

Can't keep pulling off of work to read the rest of the thread first though so need help with the choices:

V4L seems to be the most popular here, and maybe the most like handling an "analog" cigaret?

Bloog should be a modified version of the same, coming from the same roots...

I didn't see anything more on the Volcano since TJRaider recommended it after his trials--anything?

And--I really like the looks of the eGo-T tank refill system that Gadabout is using.

Are there others I haven't seen yet to recommend for starting up? New problems with any of these four? I'm finally ready to roll here after having tried everything else, and this time it's gotta stick--so it's all or nothing!

:coffee:

Welcome to the thread.

Without it I and my wife wouldn't be "celebrating" out 7 week "anniversay of no analogs tomorrow - give or take for my wife. I thank everyone who's contributed.

Personally, I'd start with a V4L starter kit (manual XL) then go from there. They have a 29 percent discount on EVERYTHING right now, so it's a wonderful time to get started.

Most of us started with something similar and some have moved on to something else. I haven't had the need to do so, but everyone is different of course.

Good luck with your journey and if you choose to use V4L use the coupon code World29. It's good for 48 hours on everything.

Hey Glump! I only have experience with V4L, and whole-heartedly recommend them for someone who is looking to jump on the vaping wagon. I'm very happy with their products and they were a very satisfying substitude for cigarettes. Not to mention they continually run specials...in fact right now they are running a 48hr sale - 29% off everything (no minimum order)! Use code World29

Glumpy,

I would bypass the V4L stuff and get either the ego-T (I haven't actually used the tank setup in over a month) or just a plain ego. Reason I suggest that is that they're extremely diverse. With the ego-t, you've got the option to either run with the tank, any 510/306 cartomizer and any 510/306 atomizer. That may sound confusing, but I really think it's the best way to go right out of the gate.

So if you were to order an ego-t kit, I'd suggest also placing an order on a 5-pack of cartomizers and a couple of low resistance atomizers. This will give you plenty of options, and those low resistance atomizers really are nice on an ego battery.

If you decided to lean towards the ego, lemme know and I'll go further into it.

ego = options

Mine just arrived today!Still waiting for my atomizers though...
I've got batteries, a charger, all kindsa juice, plenty atomizers but no Reo.You should order your atomizers from Avid Vaper. They're a NY company and if I were to place an order tomorrow morning, they'd be in my mailbox Friday afternoon (I'm in NYC).

I'm seriously considering sending a message to the dude who makes the Reo telling him that my little brother is in the "Make a Wish" program and the only thing he wants is a black & gold Reo Grand for this weekend.

AS--that link--or maybe my computer here at home--switched a couple times but led me once to a Volcano Inferno T...with a tank?! That's like the eGo-T that caught my attention. Steevie, I'm hoping my 'starter' will be my 'final' kit, which I know could be the V4L--but I'm thinking from what I've seen in the thread so far that I'll be juicing it pretty quickly and want that to be as smooth an operation as possible. That's what caught my attention with the eGo-t's. My sister is so keen on me doing this she's offered to buy the first kit. Love the sale going on but my indecision is between the more analog-like V4L (I think) vs the more user friendly tanks. And thanks to all in this thread!! I know it's a mutually rewarding experience!

Weird...sorry about that. They must've sold.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Cisco 306 atomizer for the REO Grand. Nothing else I've tried has matched the TH, vapor, production, or flavor of these atomizers. I've tried Cisco 510s at both 1.7 and 2.0 ohms, Cisco 801s at 1.8 and 2.0 ohms, and Ikenvape 306s at 2.0 ohms. The Cisco 306 2.0ohm LR atomizer smokes them all.

Glumpy, having started with V4L PV's, I never wanted to get into dripping. I went in another direction, the Notcigs Buzz variable voltgae PV, and Ikenvape mega 808 cartridges. Of course, dripping with the Notcigs Buzz works great for people who like to drip as well. I'll be buying a second Buzz soon. I love it. The new one will vape heavilly for 16 hours! One the same battery charge. A new thumbweel voltage adjustment will be on the new one as well.

The VV (variable voltage) hits like a ton of bricks, and interestingly enough, some juices like a different voltage setting for finding the sweet spot. With the Buzz and an Ikenvape high voltage mega 808 cart, I can go out to a pub, swill some brews for hours, and never have to do anything but take a vape when I want it, and I vape heavilly at 36mg's and being an ex 3 packs a day smoker.

So, my personal recommendation is the Notcigs Buzz. But, I'm not sorry I started with the V4L stuff either. I'll be giving it to my nephew's wife shortly. Good luck... today is my 7 week anniversary.

If I had it to do over, and the size/shape/appearance of the PV is/was a non issue, I'd skip the 808s (Bloog/V4L) altogether and either get a blaster VV mod like the Buzz or Infinity or a box mod like the REO Grand. Both cost more, but they give you the luxury of using atomizers or cartomizers, dripping or not, huge battery life, added power to more closely resemble the experience of smoking, etc. The 808s are a great introduction into the world of vaping, but ultimately, most want something more (unless you're using vaping simply as a bridge from smoking to not inhaling anything but air) and the 808s end up being an investment of several hundred bucks rendered moot and unnecessary by the mod.

Excellent! Ordered one of each of the Cisco 306 & 510 @2 ohms. Apparently avidvapes is forced to update their website order status manually and are behind. My order should be waiting for me when I get home! :excited: REO Vaping coma, here I come! ;)

Seriously, try to resist the urge to hit it 15-20 times in 5 minutes. You can get mildly ill for a little while. The 510s work fine, but the 306 is superior on all fronts in my opinion. I also like 2 ohms with this unit, you don't need anything less. 1.5 ohms tastes kind of burnt, I find 1.85-1.95 amps to be a sweet spot with the Grand.
