He has thrown for 71 TDs in the last three years. Additionally, he is still young for the QB position. I'd say he is at least 7 with an argument possible for him to be ahead of Roethlisberger or Brees. Having won the Super Bowl, he has guaranteed himself a job for at least the next 5 years. Plus, having seen what he can do, there is no reason he can't continue to make strides as a player. He clearly has the ability, intelligence, awareness to be an elite QB. That, and he is a class act.As long as that defense continues to be strong, I don't see him rising all that much from a fantasy standpoint. He could be another classic case of good NFL QB, but so-so fantasy QB.

No one is disputing that - the point is his value as a fantasy player. If the Giants continue to stress ball control/strong defense, he may not need to put up gaudy passing stats. There are plenty of factors at play beyond how good Eli is (or will become). To be fair though, Brady was such a player (great NFL QB, mediocre fantasy QB) until last year, so things could change. He has thrown for 71 TDs in the last three years. Additionally, he is still young for the QB position. I'd say he is at least 7 with an argument possible for him to be ahead of Roethlisberger or Brees. I think most would agree that he made a quantum leap down the stretch of the regular season and in the playoffs. He could be another classic case of good NFL QB, but so-so fantasy QB.I don't even think Eli is that good of QB.
How can you argue him ahead of Brees of Big Ben?Brees and Big Ben have both beat Eli in rankings this year and last and are both young enough like Eli, that the age difference between them at this point in time is neglible.Eli Manning is not young for the QB position. A pet peeve of mine of people excusing Eli due to his age. Eli is probably average age for the starting QBs in the NFL right now. Eli is almost 28 years old.He has thrown for 71 TDs in the last three years. Additionally, he is still young for the QB position. While he did limit his turnovers, a 4 game stretch does not negate his full body of work and his prior 3 seasons. Eli winning the Super Bowl does not make me forget he was 26th in passer rating this year with the most turnovers for a QB.I think most would agree that he made a quantum leap down the stretch of the regular season and in the playoffs. He could be another classic case of good NFL QB, but so-so fantasy QB.I don't even think Eli is that good of QB.
Definitely - he had a terrible start and not a good year overall. But what is more impressive is how he overcame it despite the NY press and fans all over his case, to the point of talking about who the QB would be in 2008.We're getting a bit off topic here, but Eli has every right to give a giant FU to the media and many of the Giants fans.Time will tell whether he carries it over next year, but he has all the earmarks of a different QB now. While he did limit his turnovers, a 4 game stretch does not negate his full body of work and his prior 3 seasons. So what is young for the QB position for you? I'd say 27 is plenty young. I would argue that Roethlisberger will not put up stats like he did this year, as the Steelers will return to a more run oriented offense. Manning has outdone him from a fantasy perspective every year but this one. For Brees I would argue that his job is not as secure as Eli. Two bad years and Brees could be out seeing as he has never won a Super Bowl. Eli has at least five years guaranteed in my opinion. Plus Eli is younger than Brees with fewer injuries. I am suprised people are still so down on Eli. Winning is the most important stat for a fantasy QB. If you don't win, you lose your job. Eli has proven he can win while throwing for 20 + TD in his last three seasons. How can you argue him ahead of Brees of Big Ben?Brees and Big Ben have both beat Eli in rankings this year and last and are both young enough like Eli, that the age difference between them at this point in time is neglible.Eli Manning is not young for the QB position. Roethlisberger has outdone himself in the past three seasons, and was ranked 10th last year when they had a good running game. Roethlisberger has won a Super Bowl and is younger. I never said 27 wasn't young. You said he was young for the QB position which isn't that true. While Eli may be younger than Brady, Peyton, Favre, Bulger, Hasselbeck, McNabb etc. Guys like Roethlisberger, Young, Shaub, Palmer, Romo, Garrard, Cutler, Anderson, Rivers, Leinart, Campbell, Russell, Quinn, are all younger or similar in age than Eli.So what is young for the QB position for you? You mean to tell me 18 TDs and 23 Ints just last year by Big Ben was better than Eli? He has thrown for fewer TDs than Eli in the last 3 years, his Super Bowl is further removed, they have thrown for about the same amount of yards, and Eli has fewer injuries thus negating the 1 year age gap in my opinion. I am not saying there are not younger QBs (that are unproven). I am saying 27 IS young for the QB position, not that 27 is young. You disagree.Roethlisberger has outdone himself in the past three seasons, and was ranked 10th last year when they had a good running game. Roethlisberger has won a Super Bowl and is younger. I do disagree. There are just as many younger Qbs than there are older Qbs when compared to Eli. When you are the median age for a QB, I wouldn't call that young. You mean to tell me 18 TDs and 23 Ints just last year by Big Ben was better than Eli? Just because there happens to be a lot of young QBs in the league right now does not mean Manning is not young for the QB position. Young is defined as, being in an early period of life, development, or growth. I think it is clear that Manning is still in the earlier part of his football life, as well as the earlier part of his development and growth as a QB. Therefore, he fits the definition for "young relative to the QB position" almost perfectly. Add in the fact that QBs are capable of having longer careers than almost all positions and Eli has not had any major injuries, and my argument is strengthened further.I do disagree. There are just as many younger Qbs than there are older Qbs when compared to Eli. We'll see when he's hauling up QB ratings in the 70s again next year. The giants won with their defense holding the 3 best offenses in the NFL to no more than 20 points. Not because Eli has made some sort of leap. This is the kind of person that you must pass on as he'll be overvalued coming into this season. Which one of his stat lines from the playoffs would get you a win? The best showing he had was versus TB with 185 and 2TD. STUDYou havnt been here long, have you?Although i agree, that was a bad comparison.All-time worst post ever. Congrats.Dilfer never did jack after his SB. Don't see this being any different.
Regardless of your position on Eli, he has to be bumped up, at least slightly, due to his job security.I believe that most "sharkier" owners are not increasing Eli's value but I do believe his value in the fantasy football world will be increased some at this point. It's about knowing the types of owners in your league but unless all of your owners visit FBG on a regular basis you can probably find a few owners in each league that are bumping Eli up a bit.
