Loved that episode last night

I hope Ari takes the job, and I hope that doesnt mean his role in the show is diminished. He's certainly 1 of the best parts of the show, if not the best.

And for all those ppl who called the Alan Grey heart attack last week a cop out, whaddaya say now?!

No way in hell Ari turns down the job...not with the way he ran out of the office to pick up his wife and catch that jet.

Did anyone else catch the scenes for next week? Confrontation with on the sidewalk with Josh Weinstein. Weinstein suggests to Vince "there's lots and lots of money in TV and you aren't going to be a movie star anymore."

I think E steps up becomes Vince's agent and Ari helps pave the way.

I agree. It looked like Ari was negotiating the offer, which would be expected. IIRC, it said something about 10 mil. I think E becomes the agent for Vince, and he gets the movie for the writers of the fire script as well. Ari may not like dealing with E, but Vince will smooth it over.

I think the problem with Ari becoming the executive is while he loves Vince, he doesn't think Vince is that good of an actor and once he takes that job his priority will not be on helping Vince but making sure the movie doesn't fail. It has to come down to Ari passing over Vinny and then Vinny hitting it hugh else where......story line goes from there....

 Ari told Vince to his face that he didn't think he was a great actor. If Ari's 1st movie as Studio Head fails because of Vince, that won't be good.

I think they are messing with Ari and they'll pull the rug out when he accepts the job. No way given Ari's track record with them that they'll hand over the studio. This was the final payback / request from Alan

Alan collapsed and died on the course. When did he lay out this elaborate plan to mess with Ari?

I think it was pretty clear that Alan's boss knew the disdain he had towards Ari, it's not like Alan looked or acted like a guy after AM that he just sat silent about his feelings towards Ari.

Don't buy it. Sorry.

Me neither. Why? Dana Gordon knew what was going on and she was in the inner circle before Alan died. It was made pretty clear why Ari is being offered the position. The plotline is definitely going to go in the direction of Ari's loyalty to Vince/Eric's expansion of his own business interests and the resulting conflicts. Conflicts are interesting. I'd bet Ari takes the job by the next episode or two.

Whatever happens, Ari is not gettin Effed by the Exec.

He does not know Alan's last dying wishes, and really, wouldnt that piss the Exec off if Alan didnt consider actors for personal reasons?!?

I think Ari gets it and, at least initially, hooks Vinny up with like the "Smokejumpers" role (that fire movie). After that, who knows

interesting twist tonight, with Ari screwing over Amanda and getting Dana Gordon the job.

Next week looks intersting as we quickly jump to the filming of Smoke Jumpers and all is not well on the set.

Jamie Lynn Sigler looked pretty good in this episode, but not as good as Dana Gordon did in the workout gear. :lmao:

Pretty good episode tonight. The whole Turtle/Sigler encounter was pretty funny, especially at the end.

As Tat said, good twist with Ari getting Vince into Smoke Jumpers while screwing over Amanda and getting Dana the gig. Thought for sure Ari was going to bail, but in the end, it made sense. What becomes of Amanda now?

I really enjoyed the episode tonight. The Turtle and Drama back and forth was hilarious, and no one believing that Turtle actually got that from Meadow Soprano herself was funny.

I found most funny though, was the back and forth between Ari and Lloyd. I was crackin up at everyone joke Ari made to Lloyd.

Definitely liked the twist and yes I agree, Dana Gordon was looking mighty fine.

Ari had some lines that were absolute gems last night!!

Of course for the shows sake they needed to keep Ari an agent so thats good, but how exactly did he get Dana in over Amanda?

If he tells them he doesnt want the job they tell him Ok bye, how does he get to say Dana's name even?

Still don't see how Ari can turn down 10 million a year in salary and his dream job?
 (shark jump)I don't get how he turns down $10 mil, when he claims they were only looking for $5-7 which you would think would HAVE to be an upgrade over his current pay grade.I don't buy Ari not being greedy, but rather caring more about Vince then himself. :lmao:

Agent's fees are 10%. Ari, as a partner would probably make his full 10% from his clients and probably pulls in something like another 2% from all the other agents working in his agency.

I would guess that his total yearly compensation is somewhere around $5 million.

That 10 mil was probably the base. If a movie makes money, I'm sure the studio head gets a nice percentage of that.

I don't think it had anything to do with Vince. Rather it was what Lloyd and his wife were talking about--being his own boss. Obviously, it made the decision easier getting Dana Gordon in the job and securing Smoke Jumpers for Vince. But if being a studio head had been his dream he would have taken the job.

Can someone explain this to me?

If Ari was the guy he wanted for the job...I'm sure he respected and wanted Ari's opinion on things. Ari probably 'sold' him on Dana and, more importantly, sold him on why Amanda was NOT the person for the job.

Or the writers simply ignored this hard sell, and jumped to the conclusion.

Wasn't Dana working with the company under Alan?
I THINK she was Alan's number 2 until Ari leaked info that she gave him or something. If she wasnt #2, she was def in the top tier with Alan. So the Ari sale of her to the big wig probably wasnt as tough after Ari explained why Alan let her go in the first place etc.

My God, what a SNOOZER of an episode. They should just cancel the show if they've run out of storylines. We don't even get to see hot naked chicks anymore, which was a staple of the show in the first two seasons. For those who missed it last night, these were the big developments:

- Ari has drinks with an old friend.

- Jason Patrick steals Vince's lines on the set of his new movie. :bag:

- Drama takes a dump in Patrick's toilet, and doesn't flush it.

I agree, yesterdays episode was a snoozer. Perfect way to describe it RN. There was nothing that was jaw dropping, or overly funny at all. There have been a lot of people complaining to date about this seasons episodes, but this was the first time that I started thinking along those lines. The writing has really fallen off in terms of both content (story line), character development and one liners... Yesterday was the first time for me where the show really started to feel like a normal network sitcom. And that's not a good thing. Hopefully the writers/producers get things figured out and corrected while the show still has an audience.

Agreed- pretty boring episode. That coupled with the fact that the new True Blood was also pretty boring left me wishing I hadn't wasted the hour and a half to sit through them. :lmao:

I wasn't too impressed with the episode, but I guess they needed to fill some time... Anyways, should pick up next week. Looks like the director must have wrote Vince in becasue the studio said he had to, but probably didn't want him in it since he isn't a good actor. At the end of the scenes from next week it looks like Vince was sitting with the director, and he said something about quivering lips. maybe he is giving him the tips he needs to be better.

Agreed with all your points EXCEPT the bolded part, Drama yelling at Vince to "Tell'em he got molested in 'Sleepers' " was very funny

 The part of the little brother was always there.

Sorry, I meant caste him not wrote in the character.
