What's up with Eric Barton the last two weeks. He has gone 7-1-0 and 8-2-0.5 FR since David Harris has gone out with his injury. Do you think this type of production will continue as long as Harris is out? Did Barton take over Harris' position?

Barton did not take Harris' spot, Bowens did, and Barton remains on the inside, at his usual side, but he has stepped up since Harris went down. He's pretty high on the cheat sheets this week, and while I have him on one roster, I've yet to start him... that will change this week.

Honestly, I don't know if the Jets changed up their schemes since the Harris injury, but from what I've seen, I don't think so. It just looks like he has more tackle opportunities now. Bowens < Harris on the inside... it may be as simple as that.

Barton has moved over to the SILB position at times with Harris out, but I think his increased production is more a function of Harris being out and Bowens etal struggling to tackle in his absence than any definite scheme change.

Barton's production should be good against nearly every matchup until Harris returns, including the Patriots this week.

Not sure. I saw Spencer in the middle in a few nickel packages last week; Bowens could have been on the field but I couldn't find him in the brief highights I saw.

Yeah, Bartons production won't go down as long as Harris is out. Bowens doesn't really offer a lot of competition for tackles.

He had surgery on his groin, the type of lingering injury notoriously slow to heal and lingering. With the Jets making a push, I wouldn't be surprised if we limit him down the stretch to try to get him healthy for the playoffs. Either way, Barton is probably a good LB play down the stretch for fantasy purposes.

Man, Im close to picking up Barton right now for a play tonight, but its hard to pull the trigger considering Id have to drop Vilma in all likelihood (we only start 3 IDP's and theres a few available with similar pts as Vilma's, soo....arghh)

Conflicting reports last week on Harris. Early week report suggested that he was close to practicing -- maybe late week for a possible W14 return -- late week report wasn't nearly as optimistic. With the Jets pushing for a playoff berth, Harris won't be going on IR (which he may well have had this injury occurred last season when the Jets were going nowhere). We'll probably be in week-to-week limbo with Harris for awhile yet, but I wouldn't count on him returning before Week 15 at this point. There's an argument that it could be even later, given how well the team is playing, though they'll certainly take him back as an upgrade over Bowens and Spencer at the other ILB spot.

Thanks for the update Jene. Teh Barton bandwagon can continue to roll until we read Harris is back.
