Eric Berry (1 Viewer)

Seems like there has been some backing off of him here. One bad week or will he be avg this year?

Berry missed some tackles, got himself out of position at times and struggled a bit in coverage. However, some of that was likely rookie jitters, especially on MNF, and the second half strategy to double and at times triple Antonio Gates. Since Gates didn't get the ball, Berry's tackle chances took a hit. Still, Berry was second on the team with five solos. I'd like to see the consistency of his play improve, but I still expect top ten upside with a DB2 floor.

I agree but both SD TDs were completely blown coverages by Berry. I was worried watching the game that the Chiefs were going to pull him. He did look jittery during the game but definitely showed he was a heavy hiter. I am playing the wait and see game with him. Hopefully he plays more composed in the coming weeks... Huge reward if he pans out.

Heres an article that you may want to look at http://bleacherreport.com/articles/312332-...-the-hype-berry I would realize several things though. I know a few guys playing in frnt of him played great. Eric has admitted that he had some blown coverages<--- hes quoted as saying it wont happen again A great player has to be able to shake off a poor play period...

Lets not forget he just played his first game at nfl "game speed" and the fact that hes had nothing but praise etc.

I believe from a career perspective that it was good for his development, that it wasnt a great game (5 solos) not terrible imho A good chance he watches tape and listens to what coaches are explaining...

2 weeks later...Is he being utilized the way we hoped, as a roaming in-the-box Harrison type of safety?
Two disappointing weeks out of 3 isn't a great start, but he seems to be all over the field.I'm sure the improvement of the entire team is contributing to his lack of stats. More offensive snaps = less defensive and better front 7 play = less tackles for DB's.

Seems overhyped, from a fantasy standpoint. I have him, but he'll be on my bench until he show that he could put up consistent numbers. I agree the potential is there, but in the fantasy world, potential doesn't mean a thing. There are simply many better options right now.

Berry's interesting.

Even after his relatively poor Week 3 (in which the Chiefs faced just 42 tackle opportunities and 15 rushing attempts), he's still on pace for 75 solos. There's also plenty of room for improvement, as he seems like he's trying to do too much at times. Schedule looks up and down for the Chiefs, though, so he might be best seen as a matchup play if you're in a shallower league.

10 tackles and a pick today.

He's coming along nicely. The first few weeks he was clearly thinking too much, often scrambling at the snap to get in position. Now he seems to be playing more freely like we saw in college, shooting into the box on running plays and being responsible on passing plays.

The Raiders are up next week and they may run it 30-35 times. And Jason Campbell is usually a good bet for a pick. He could have a big week.

Anyone think he has turned the corner? Due to byes I was forced to play him last week and was pleasantly surprised. I think I'll give him another go this week and bench Weddle since Gregory is back this week and Weddle wasn't in on many tackles before his suspension.

I still see him blowing a lot of coverages and giving up TD's. Don't really see him making a lot of tackles either. I'm willing to give him a pass since he is just a rookie. Poor guy just had too many expectations on him this year. I may be mistaken, but I think they (KC) switch around their safeties alot too. I've been noticing Lewis and of course McGraw in there ever so often as well.

Getting there. Looks better than Polamalu did in his rookie year (before and after getting benched). And since this is a fantasy thread, yes, I think he's definitely on the uptick. He sticks his nose in there as much as any safety in football, so the tackles were bound to come in bunches. The front 7 has been better than expected so he's not always clearing up, but his aggression should result in plenty of tackle opportunities. INTs are almost impossible to predict and he doesn't get the benefit of playing centerfield like Nate Allen or Earl Thomas, but I wouldn't bet against him. And he wants to score - if you look at his 2 INTs, he fights for yards like an undrafted RB trying to stay on a roster.
