I agree but both SD TDs were completely blown coverages by Berry. I was worried watching the game that the Chiefs were going to pull him. He did look jittery during the game but definitely showed he was a heavy hiter. I am playing the wait and see game with him. Hopefully he plays more composed in the coming weeks... Huge reward if he pans out.Berry missed some tackles, got himself out of position at times and struggled a bit in coverage. However, some of that was likely rookie jitters, especially on MNF, and the second half strategy to double and at times triple Antonio Gates. Since Gates didn't get the ball, Berry's tackle chances took a hit. Still, Berry was second on the team with five solos. I'd like to see the consistency of his play improve, but I still expect top ten upside with a DB2 floor.
Two disappointing weeks out of 3 isn't a great start, but he seems to be all over the field.I'm sure the improvement of the entire team is contributing to his lack of stats. More offensive snaps = less defensive and better front 7 play = less tackles for DB's.2 weeks later...Is he being utilized the way we hoped, as a roaming in-the-box Harrison type of safety?
Seems overhyped, from a fantasy standpoint. I have him, but he'll be on my bench until he show that he could put up consistent numbers. I agree the potential is there, but in the fantasy world, potential doesn't mean a thing. There are simply many better options right now.Jayrod said:Two disappointing weeks out of 3 isn't a great start, but he seems to be all over the field.I'm sure the improvement of the entire team is contributing to his lack of stats. Getting there. Looks better than Polamalu did in his rookie year (before and after getting benched). And since this is a fantasy thread, yes, I think he's definitely on the uptick. He sticks his nose in there as much as any safety in football, so the tackles were bound to come in bunches. The front 7 has been better than expected so he's not always clearing up, but his aggression should result in plenty of tackle opportunities. INTs are almost impossible to predict and he doesn't get the benefit of playing centerfield like Nate Allen or Earl Thomas, but I wouldn't bet against him. And he wants to score - if you look at his 2 INTs, he fights for yards like an undrafted RB trying to stay on a roster.JbizzleMan said:Anyone think he has turned the corner? Due to byes I was forced to play him last week and was pleasantly surprised. I think I'll give him another go this week and bench Weddle since Gregory is back this week and Weddle wasn't in on many tackles before his suspension.
