Ernie Sims Injury Updates? (1 Viewer)

So far, all I have heard was that he limped off the field in the 4th Q after colliding with Bullocks and appeared to have "twisted his knee". Now, I am pretty sure that is not a medical diagnosis,; so I am hoping for any Detroit homer info regarding what happened.

I know I can wait until Wednesday to find out more, I was just curious how "serious" it appeared.

Lions | Sims injured Week 6

Sun, 15 Oct 2006 20:06:25 -0700

The Associated Press reports Detroit Lions LB Ernie Sims (elbow) suffered an elbow injury during the Week 6 game, but he said he was fine.

Not much to report yet here either, but there doesn't appear to be a critical concern according to the local newsrags.

Detroit Free Press

INJURIES: Running back Shawn Bryson (knee), fullback Cory Schlesinger (hamstring) and linebacker Ernie Sims (elbow) suffered injuries and will be evaluated today. Bryson's injury seemed the most serious. He was hurt on a kickoff return in the first quarter and did not return. Marinelli didn't want to speculate about the extent of the injury but when he was asked if he thought it was serious, Marinelli said, "Without knowing, kind of."

Oct 16 Detroit Lions LB Ernie Sims (elbow) will have an MRI on his injured elbow Monday, Oct. 16. Sims is listed as day-to-day.

Results of MRI?

Bump. Not even listed on the Injury Report. I have scoured the Detroit press and nothing. Did the MRI even occur? Is this a phantom injury? Did he die and they just haven't announced the services?

As they always say, "no news is good news". I haven't been able to turn up squat on his status and have been looking everywhere I know. Inside souce tells me he is fine and gtg.

Lions | Sims practices Wednesday

Steve Pate, of The Daily Oakland Press, reports Detroit Lions LB Ernie Sims (elbow) practiced Wednesday, Oct. 18 and is not listed on the team's injury report for Week 7.

Looks like he'll be playing

Has anyone watched any lions games? How active is Ernie? I would love to see him get a sack or a forced fumble here or there. Even a pass defended. Its not as if he's getting 10 tackles a game.

Ernie has been very active according to most observers. He's gotten one forced fumble already; he's also knocked Alex Lewis out for over a month now. The base Tampa-2 scheme rarely brings LBs on blitzes, so it'll be unlikely for him to make a big impact in the sack column. And it usually takes rookies a year or so to adjust to the extra half-step worth of speed needed to make big plays in the NFL rather than just get there in time to make a tackle. Ernie is on pace for over 90 solo tackles, including his relatively poor Week 6, which is a very impressive mark for a rookie. He may improve as the year goes on but it's not uncommon for rookies to have a full year's adjustment period.

thanks for the input Jean. I guess I was looking for Derrick Brooks #s out of him b/c of the tampa scheme. And having Odell Thurman last year probably has forced my expectations to rise for him. I'm holding on either way b/c I am in a dynasty league.
