Ernie Sims looking very good.. (1 Viewer)

The buzz around the Lion camp is not about the offense, but about how good LB Earnie Sims is looking.

Rod Marinara said Sims is flying all over the place and has been the most impressive player in camp so far.

had the opportunity to watch Sims play 3 years at FSU. Great player/athlete and he WILL be a good LB in the NFL. He sometime hits so hard he hurts himself

When I watched Sims last year, I would see many plays where Sims would be a half step late getting there, missing possible interceptions by a half step, being a little out of position...and he still led the Lions in tackles. The Lions defenders had a learning curve with the Tampa-2 defense, and it was even more magnified for Sims because he was a rookie. He should make a lot more plays this year, both tackles and big plays because he has a year in the Tampa-2 defense and now can react more and use his instincts, instead of taking that extra second to think about what to do, as he did last year. He is a perfect fit as a Tampa-2 WLB.

I see Sims having top 10-15 upside this year, and a definite top 10 caliber LB long term.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I'm quite sure that Sims is WAAAYYYY beyond being a sleeper in ANY league. He went right behind AJ Hawk in most rookie drafts last year.
The way I see it there are enough guppies that use only last years stats to base their projections and draft boards. He finished somewhere between a week #2LB and a solid #3LB.I think his numbers go way up this year to a possible top 10 finish.....so if I can get him as the 20th or later LB off the board I will be pretty stinkin' happy.
