ESPN FF Marathon (1 Viewer)

If we're speaking honestly, out of the "27 hour marathon" there is probably 10-15 minutes of decent fantasy information for the hard core fan to learn something from.

The issue is ESPN directs all this stuff towards the casual, non-saavy fantasy player.  It's kinda like the kindergarten fantasy football version.

I really wish they, or someone else, would offer an "advanced calculus" version of it for the hard core, well educated fantasy player.  I'm talking advanced stats, metrics, etc etc.  I want detailed breakdowns of the #1 corners that each fantasy wide receiver prospect is going to face and how the timing relates to other receivers you can get in other rounds tie together.

But whatever...it calls attention to FF overall so no reason to hate.  Just accept it for what it is.

Matthew is a friend so I'm biased. And I'm sure Ed Werder and John Clayton are great people. But this is a good example of the real world and "What you bring to the table?" and "How difficult are you to replace?".  Matthew is VERY good at what he's asked to do there. And he'd be extremely difficult to replace.
So I don't have insight on what he's asked to do @ ESPN, and the comment wasn't meant as a slight.  I'm sure Clayton and Werder were very good at what they did as well.

Truth be told, I rarely watch ESPN...and that's likely because if I'm watching 'sports television'...I'm watching NFL Network or Golf Channel, specialized networks dedicated toward their specific sport that can spend a lot more time drilling down for content.  The analogy being, they can operate via an inch wide/mile deep business/entertainment model while ESPN requires more of a mile wide/inch deep approach.

Fantasy Sports being what it is...I feel like ESPN brings the same approach there when they could be innovating and perhaps doing some incredibly interesting stuff around analytics/data mining and how that might apply to both season-long/DFS leagues.  Ultimately, it feels like what ESPN provides via FF & their staff (inclusive of Berry) is not that much more credible or in-depth than what I can find here...

The bit with Scott Van Pelt and others on how nobody cares about your fantasy team was pretty good.
And true.

Apples and oranges. A site like this is very much targeted toward the die-hards. ESPN is just unlikely to target that niche.

That said, they did go out and hire Mike Clay and have been giving him an increasingly higher profile in recent years

I’m talking SP.  Listen, ESPN knows their audience better than me.  But if I’m tuning in to a television show about fantasy football, I feel like that person is closer to die-hard than casual player.

What do you feel he brings to the table that would be difficult to replicate?
