ESPN Live Draft Application (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
I am switching over to ESPN from Sportsline. My league did not want to give CVS $130 for what they think ESPN can do.

I have heard some bad stories about the ESPN draft application. How is it? Also, can you pause the draft like you can in Sportsline? Every year someone seems to lose connection or makes the wrong pick and we have to go back.

Any insight on ESPN's live draft application would be much appreciated.

i've used espn for a long time and i've never had a problem with their draft application. i've only used it for auctions so far this year and that has worked fine.

i've never used cbssportsline, but most of the guys in one of my espn leagues used to use cbssportsline. they prefer espn, in general.

This is my first year of using the live draft application and was curious if anyone could comment on some of the commissioner features of the application.

-= Can you pause the draft?

-= can you make picks for people?

-= can you turn off the ability where a player can allow espn to draft for you?

Can anyone shed some light on some additional features that the app provides to the commish?

the commish can pause the draft and make picks for people.as far as your 3rd Q, do you mean can you turn "auto-draft" off for a player that's not there? you probably can, but in the past, as commish, i've just drafted for a player who wasn't there (by pausing the draft).the commish can also "undo" as many picks as he'd like if something strange happens during the draft.

just see the application, you can do one of espn's live mock (or real) drafts. they've got them going like every 10 minutes all day long.

you won't see the commish features, but you can see the application.

I am glad to know that the commish has the option to suspend the draft, do picks for others and have some good features as commish.

I am just worried about it crashing.

Also, is there a time limit once your draft starts?

From looking at the draft settings, the most you can set it to is 120 seconds per pick. If you are able to pause the draft, then you could allow more time if you would like.

Someone want to tell me how to pause the draft - I specifically wrote ESPN about this feature two months ago and they said its not available.

Every draft I've been in over the last couple of years, someone has had a problem making picks. They advise that you turn off your firewall if you are using the Java app. and that solved my issues a couple of years ago when I was the one having trouble. The HTML app worked fine.

Lessons learned from when I've used ESPN...

- As stated above, make sure everyone's PC is compatible and all firewalls, etc. are turned off

- Make sure eveyone's aware of the "Draft-lite" application. Much less risk of problems
