ESPN Podcasts - Baseball Today (1 Viewer)

Usual Suspect

Footballguy
Anybody else listen to Baseball Today's podcast through ESPN?

I cant believe they let Peter Pascarelli go for those comments (which I found great). Anybody know where to follow him?

Any other podcasts you guys listen too?

Haven't started listening again this year, but I really enjoyed these last year. Pascarelli is hilarious.
They were talking about a statue of Selig going up at the Brewers stadium and Peter made a comment about it being a target for pigions...I found it funny and entertaining. The next day he had a 10min "special" podcast with an apology and praising Selig. He no longer is on the Podcast but I guess he is still with ESPN.The new guy seems to have good info so giving it a shot but not the same.ESPN overreacted on this one...big time!Trying to find other baseball podcast to help pass my 40min daily commute.

I listen to Fantasy Focus largely because I like Ravitz and think they do a decent job. Berry's "humor" needs to go away, especially since he's one of the more defensive unfunny people on the air.

Baseball Today is great when they have Keith Law on (I think Tu/Th). Karabell just wants to talk about the Phillies even though he claims he doesn't do that. They have this stats guy, Mark Simon, who nerds up the show pretty badly. If you're a fan of knowing who was the most successful hitter with an equal number of letters in their first and last name, this is the podcast for you. I liked Pascarelli when he was around. Canning him over comments about Selig was laughable. I don't think the show ever recovered from losing him.

Baseball HQ's podcast is desert dry and is produced (often poorly) by a Canadian who wishes he was a 1970s era Top 40 DJ.

CBS Sports has one too, but it's frankly no better than the old Baseball Tangent ones where Cappy and I would talk about BJ Upton for 15 minutes.

All of the other ones are even worse than the above... RotoKings, Fantasy 911 or whatever.. they're all pathetic. Sirius XM has a channel that is 100% fantasy sports. Some of those shows are entertaining. I like Fantasy Drive with Kyle Elfrink, Ray Flowers, and Kay Adams. Pretty good shtick.

The ESPN one is good when Law is on, but that seems to be down to basically once a week, normally Wednesdays. Couple of other times a week they have Schoenfeld (?) - the new Sweet Spot guy, and thats fine. Monday and Fridays though are unbearable with Mark Simon.

I fill in the gaps in the week with the ESPN fantasy podcast. They cover all the relevant info and I find their bits innocuous enough. Now, their advice often sucks, but as long as you know that you should be fine.

I've actually been thinking about launching one myself lately.n
Let's stop dreaming and start 'casting.
I'm about to launch a new website. No shtick. It's time to start making some money outside of my fantasy winnings every year. Can we count on you as a contributor? Wouldn't mind getting you on board, Eeph, Truck, Stat that Mac guy who seems to know some stuff, that knightro dude. I've got some great ideas and I'd put my yearly projections up against anyone's in the business.
Lol at "that knightro dude". Guy writes for Baseball Prospectus.
Yeah, and? I think he's talented. Why you all loling?

BRING IT BACKThink Joe would sponsor a baseball podcast?
If we could get Cappy to Skype in from his undisclosed location, I'd be for it.I remember the old days when we'd just fire up Skype and start recording whatever we felt like talking about. It needed more structure.
I think I could do this.
Let's make it happen. I think we have enough fake experts around here to at least give something regular a shot.
