Montreal Alouettes' safety Etienne Boulay signed a NFL contract with the New York Jets earlier today.

Boulay had a tryout with the Buffalo Bills earlier this week, but they passed on the safety.

The Jets decided to take a chance and hired the 24-year-old player.

Boulay might be a bit short for the NFL at only 5’9” but as the saying goes, never say never.

His football background includes playing with the University of New Hampshire and a two-year career in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes.

Boulay was drafted in the second round, 16th overall, in the 2006 CFL by the Alouettes.

In his second year with Montreal, a tough one for the player who had to fight off injuries, Boulay registered 28 tackles and three interceptions.

If Boulay is rejected after the next New York Jets training camp, he will have the option of staying with the Jets training squad of the or return home with the Montreal Alouettes.
The guy was signed the day of his tryout with the Jets, Jets' GM didn't even let him take the plane to tryout with an other team and he apparently ran a 4.3 in front of 8 Jets scouts. It doesn't say it in the article but he's supposed to play CB/Special Teams.

I am from Montreal and wish him the best , smart kid good football player he has speed and is very smart .

Buy i dont see how he can play in the NFL , he was nt dominant in the CFL .

He was the rookie of the year 2 years ago and last year won an award for his actions both on and off the field. He WAS dominant. It's hard to stand out as a DB with only 3 downs and 12 players on the field but Boulay was a stud. And I had the honor of meeting him last year and he's a class act. :wall:
