it being... it... right?Just watched the pilot. It was ok. I can see the argument that its over the top. I'll give it another episode to see if I like it. Zendaya seems like a good actress.
I'm a little slow, so it took me until the end and I was like, "Wait ... is that what I think it is?" lol. I'm a moron.
Yes.it being... it... right?
eta: and yeah- she's good. saw the spider man movie over the weekend... part deuze or whatever... and she's in that too as mj- definite star quality.
And the musicActing and production are both really great here.
A very good point I hadn't thought of.And I still can’t figure out who the target audience is.
Pervy old guys and their horny wives? It’s so well casted and directed. That carnival episode was just visually stunning. But I watch every episode with a mix of fascination and horror, maybe because I have a teenage daughter.
And I still can’t figure out who the target audience is.
Have kids in any generation ever been honest about this in polling? Teen pregnancy is way down, porn viewing is way up among all age groups...but is sexual activity actually down? Seems unlikely. I'm 30 but that certainly wasn't the case when I was in HS.What's odd is that all cultural indicators, surveys, etc., seem to report that The Kids are NOT having sex. Like, at all. So a carnal show is really escapism and not reality.
You know, I was just assuming they'd already adjusted for lying in self-reporting. I think that across consistent surveys, relative sexual activity is down, but that's a legit question about honesty in self-reporting.Have kids in any generation ever been honest about this in polling? a great majority of the interaction is done via Snapchat and Music.ily ... this is the shtick nowdaysThis is purely anecdotal, but I have a nephew in high school and a number of friends with high school aged kids. When talking with them and observing my nephew, it definitely seems like dating and interaction with the opposite sex is way down from when we were young.
But who knows?
Just read an article from one of the preeminent teen psychologists in the country the other day. I think point two is something I'd never really considered. I know my personal experiences with my niece, step niece, and nephew are that they just flat aren't dating, and they should be. So there must be some reason. What it is takes a finer eye than mine to see it.That's so interesting.
As a culture, we've sexed up everything around them. We've removed a lot of the stigma around premarital sex. We've supplied lots of birth control in many places. They have nearly unfettered access to a pretty sex-positive atmosphere on social media and the internet in general. More unsupervised time after school than any generation before, I bet (between divorced parents, single parents, or families where both parents work full time).
And, what, Fortnite has dulled all temptation?
I think we have to consider two possible explanations:
1. Every generation of kids gets better at hiding their dirt from the adults in their lives. Especially now with the internet.
2. It's possible that a lot of the sex that was happening in HS in the past was the result of more peer (and societal) pressure than we realized--girls being pressured by the boys they're involved with of course, but also guys being pressured by each other to get there as fast as possible. It's possible we're in a time now where there's a lot less of that pressure from all sides and an understanding that that's not cool.
Maybe it's a mixture of both, or neither. Who knows.
So much of young relationships take place online now that the old definitions and labels may apply way less. Physically getting together and going out as a couple definitely seems to be less common even in college.I think point two is something I'd never really considered. That's so true. I'm really no expert. I was sort of reiterating what I'd seen and read about sex in particular. There just doesn't -- and maybe this is sheltered suburb they're in -- seem to be a lot of corporeal time spent with each other by these teens. So much of young relationships take place online now that the old definitions and labels may apply way less. They are also getting a LOT more and better sex education which includes a heavy emphasis on the rampant rate of STDs today. Not only are they not having as much sex, they also aren't drinking alcohol or smoking cigs the way our generation did. It is possible that health education is working better for this generation. That's so interesting.

The whole play of what has been happening on screen was hilarious. This is a very well done show and definitely something different. Great soundtrack that really brings the scenes alive. Season 2 finale was just last night and a great show to binge watch. Great acting all around along with some nice eye candy (hello Sydney Sweeney!). Looking forward to season 3.
Not sure the context for this, but I'd like Sydney be hypocritical about whatever she wantsMaybe its me but I find it comical that sydney sweeny blasts the director of euphoria for being overly sexual but then gets praise for wearing skimpy outfit last night
