Evans or Eckel to get more touches? (1 Viewer)

Morris appears to be out for around 4 weeks and Maroney doesn't appear likely to start again this week. The Pats face an 0-6 opponent as 17.5 point favorites. Kevin Faulk should be the first option at the start of the game if both the other RBs are out, but what happens if/when the Pats get a lead. It's easy to imagine that BB doesn't want to risk injury to Faulk in a decided game, since he does play a role for the team even when both Morris and Maroney are healthy. If Evans or Eckel were to get a lot of touches in trash time(and trash time could start in the first half in this one) they could very well end up being a legit fantasy option this week given the weakness of the Miami defense and that teams tend to fold in decided games.

So which one? If Maroney doesn't play would the Pats spread the touches between Evans and Eckel or will one get the lion's share? Who gets the goalline touches?

I'd say they will just throw the ball more. If not, probably Eckel.

I'd say they will just throw the ball more. If not, probably Eckel.

I think they will, too. And if this game stays close I doubt Evans or Eckel will have much value. But in a blow out situation, one of them could end up with a lot of touches and fantasy potential for this one week. 1 vote for Eckel, thanks.

Agreed that Evans will get the ball. The pats are averaging 5 TD's per game. They might throw all day, but I could see Evans getting a line like 7/15/1. He's a classic bye-week fill-in at this point in TD heavy leagues with little on the WW.

This the kind of day I'm expecting for whichever RB gets the touches. I just can't see the Dolphins keeping this game close and can't see BB risking Faulk more than he has to with Morris and Maroney already battling injuries. Pats get an early lead, BB starts running Evans or Eckel a decent amount to keep the clock running so the Pats can get out of town with the W and hopefully no one else hurt. It's a prime situation for a "no name" RB to put up nice numbers.

Karen Guregian, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said he would consider using FB Heath Evans in more of a featured role Week 7.

This is why I cannot start Faulk and will probably drop him.

There is just no way to know who BB will end up giving the ball to.
