Ever worked for a company that was delisted? All's well that ends well. Accepted a new job today. (1 Viewer)

Big news today.

Stage Stores (hoping more people have heard of them) is buying between 50 and 57 of the 105 stores. The rest of the stores are liquidating.

I would estimate that most in those stores would remain, 20% of current field personnel, and maybe 10% of corporate will have a job with the new company
I've wondered for years how Stage stays open...  they do kinda fit with Gordmans, but the only person I know that shops at Stage is my 85yo grandma...

Final days winding down. For those of you that wonder what happens when a company files bankruptcy, it's a slow painful process. At this time, 25% of the stores are closed. The remaining liquidating stores will be closed this weekend.

The most important thing I've done is sort boxes of documents for the retention company. Most days are filled with looking for things to do. I have taken at least one sick day the last 3 weeks.

The company that acquired the other half of the stores has had zero contact with myself. No questions about how "X" was being handled.

T minus 3 days.

My first job out of HS was in automotive cooling. I was there for 18 years, when they went under.

I've had 6 FT jobs from ages 18/50

Not a single one of them is is still in business.

Current job is in OJ production. Citrus greening may take this job away. We are about 1.5 million boxes under last year. And last year was the worst year since the hurricane season of 2004 wiped out thousands of trees.

Hang in there. It sounds like you're resilient. This is the first time for me going through something like this. I've never been fired from a job.

Good news is, I received a text from a former boss. They have a position open where she works. Bigger company, more money, lot's of people say it's a great place to work. Hopefully things work out.

Received a job offer this morning! Making 10% more than the job I was laid off from and have opportunity for 10% more in bonus. Same 8-4 hours, less than a mile from home, dress code is casual. Things worked out well.

Very happy for you.  Glad it worked out and fairly quickly.  Congrats!!

Yeah, it took about 6 weeks. But, I won't be living off the gov't teat anymore. You should all see the tax break next April.
You keep paying your taxes to support Chalco Hills and I'll keep coming up and walking the trails.

I think a good portion of local tax money goes towards repairing our city's ancient sewer system. But, you're free to walk through those if you want.
