'Expert' Draft I just took part in... (1 Viewer)

You took Westbrook over Jordan I see, did you do this on your own or did you do with Joe and Davids rankings in mind? How do you and the rest of the posters in this thread fell about this?
I answered your PM about this but I will respond here as well. Can Jordan have a top fifteen fantasy season this season? Yes he certainly can but there are a couple of reasons why I like Westbrook more than Jordan this year...

# 1) The Raiders defense is horrendous! Seriously, I could see many barnburners being played in Oakland this season in which the defense gets the team off to a 0-21 start in a game forcing the Raiders to try and come back with the passing game. A poor defense can slow down a running back throughout a season

# 2)Westbrook, being capable of adding fantasy points via catching and running with the football makes him a good candidate to put up consistent fantasy points (and I have his likely backup in Moats if he suffers an injury)

# 3) Jordan has never had 100+ carries in a season. Is he durable enough to withstand the punishment of a 300 carry season? Perhaps but it is an unknown at this point

#4) Westbrook is very explosive and is capable of scoring any place and any time during a game.

Add it all together and I like my chances with Westbrook as my # 2. Good question
We are on the same page, I also felt Oak will be playing from behind and in high scoring games involving the pass game mostly. I also know that when Philly really needs yards and plays they go to Westy alot. I like to draft players from better teams as well when at all comparable who knows if things go bad in Oak early and the team may quit come weeks 12-17 and that's never good. I was kinda second guessing myself for taking Westy over Jordan in a 16 team league with my 2.-5 pick but now I think I will be just fine with it.Thanks Chris,

Donny

Green Bay Packers have some questions that must be answered this season before I would put my entire fantasy season on the line...

1)Can Favre continue to stay healthy despite his age?

2)Will the holdout of Walker/Franks hurt the offense in 2005?

3)The offensive line is a complete mess right now. Can the Packers get it straightened out in time?

...

I am not one to say, oh it's Favre and the Packers so they must be good. Everything is pointing to at least a slow start for this squad in 2005 and their are no guarantees it will get better as the year wears on.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Favre fall back to his 1999 and 2000 touchdown totals of 22 and 20 and his Y/A could suffer as well. He hasn't had to run for his life for awhile now but the offensive line holes may result in just that and at 36 years of age...

I would avoid loading up on Packers as much as possible this season. A disaster waiting to happen IMO.
I think that the Packers will have some questions during the preseason. By the start of the actual season I think they will have most of the line issues worked out. The Packers line very rarely makes it through a season uninjured and many of the players they have on the line can play more than one position. I think that everyone is making way to much of them losing both guards in the off season. They won't be a top line in the NFL anymore, but they will still be in the top 10 O-Lines. I see no reason that Favre's numbers will fall back to around 22 tds this season. His recievers are solid and he has worked with lesser recievers in his career and still put up good numbers. Whether or not Walker comes back will have some impact, but I don't think it will be that big of one.

The defense this year will be improved. They picked up Bates in the off season and if he shows a tenth of the skills he showed in Miami the Packers defense will be much improved.

Overall the Packers have some questions, but at this point in the year, almost every team does.

I don't believe in magic. How will the Packers get the offensive line straightened out as it is a bit of a mess right now. There is even talk of moving tackle Mark Tauscher into a guard slot, a spot he does not want to play and a spot he isn't as well suited for. If that happens and Kevin Barry is slotted into guard, I would DOWNGRADE Packers offensive players in my rankings. One of the biggest positives for this team over the last several years has been consistent, reliable offensive line play and it doesn't appear as if the team has even stepped in the right direction of replacing both Rivera and Wahle and they are quickly running out of time in finding other options.

Weakness along the offensive line results in so many negatives happenings on the field and it will have an impact on the offensive skill players. You are right that there is time to straighten it out but they better figure it out in a hurry because right now it is :X

Wiggins could be in for a big, big season... anyone agree? He only started 13 games from what I remember and still grabbed 71 receptions... How could he go down? Lets hear some Wiggins projections. I say 70+ catches, 800 yards and 7 TDs. I mean, that isn't too bold as he basically did that last year missing games and having Moss there on and off throughout the season. Wiggins will become a Cpep fav in the endzone now that Moss has left, that is my opinion.

Kleinsasser will be on the field alot this year..doubt he can get those numbers with Klein back.

Anything is possible but I believe he has a better chance of emerging as the 2004 Boo Williams of the Saints than the next great thing at tight end. The Vikings love Kleinsasser and he'll get a lot of the looks that Wiggins had a year ago. Combine that with a new strong defense that will help the offense go to a more conservative route and lots of receivers capable of catching the ball and I don't believe he will post anywhere near those numbers. I have him at 15th overall and I am worried that may be a little high.

Good point. I've been saying that Wiggins is an excellent value because most feel his numbers will drop because of Kleinsasser. But with Moss gone Wiggins will be relied upon more as well. Kleinsasser's greatest asset isn't his pass catching, it's his blocking and that's the reason the Vikes ran less last year. They've stated they are excited about his return and the benefits the running game will see becuse of that. In 2 TE sets expect Kleisasser to seal the end and either Bennett running off the corner to utlize his speed or play action with a quick look down the field and back to Wiggins if nothing open. It will be very effective and near impossible to stop.

Anyone see Wiggins on NFL total access this week? He was in a discussion w/Rod Woodson, Fitz, Dhani Jones, and Mike Minter... For a big dude, hes got a soft voice and a Boston accent. It was funny to see that voice come out of that dude. And I agree about him being a middle of the pack TE, especially with Klein coming back.

Interesting thoughts on Wiggins. I listen to a reporter on NFL Radio the other day talk about how Klein has a ways to go still in terms of getting on the field and there is a chance he may not be the sampe player. healthy or not, Wiggins should be getting almost all the work as the pass-catching TE, but we will see.I also think that Moss leaving increases Wiggins' TD production. Cpep will use Wiggins like Favre used Bubba, IMO.

What's going on everyone, I'm Smitty, the owner of FantasyFootballXtreme.com. I thought I'd swing by and give my take on the draft.
I don't know if you are still out there. But I have to give big Props to your buddy Goldy. Not drafting a Kicker was a fantastic move for a draft happening this early. this lets you make a few more gambles.

Goldy has the back-ups for James and Bell.

Tons of RB tallent. (in a 3RB league)

WRs that will contribute consistently - not flashy but very effective for the price.

Several high risk reward players balance by some solid steals like Barber, Dunn, Brooks, Lloyd.

There is even the chance that Alexander won't even play for the Hawks! It is unexcusable that all of these "experts" let M. Morris slide all the way to the last round of the draft!

I am putting my money on Goldy to be a top contender!

RB4 Edgerrin James Ind/8

RB5 Tiki Barber NYG/5 :excited:

RB18 Tatum Bell Den/9 :excited:

WR9 Darrell Jackson Sea/8

RB21 Warrick Dunn Atl/8 :excited:

WR22 Jimmy Smith Jac/7

TE8 Todd Heap Bal/3

QB11 Aaron Brooks NO/10 :excited:

QB18 Steve McNair Ten/10

WR40 Brandon Lloyd SF/6

RB48 LaBrandon Toefield Jac/7

RB65 Dominic Rhodes Ind/8

RB56 Quentin Griffin Den/9

WR110 Michael Jenkins Atl/8

WR55 Peerless Price Atl/8

RB73 Maurice Morris Sea/8

Palmer/BreesHolmes (LJ)Kevin JonesFoster (Shelton)HoltFitzgeraldWigginsI feel pretty confident :hophead: Foster won't break my season, but he sure as heck could make it! 'What have you done for me lately' type of thinking is making Foster a 2005 steal.

I'd like to hear if there were any picks that the owners are having second thoughts about, or which player were you hoping slid down to the next round, but got snatched up before your next pick.
