Explosions at Boston Marathon (2 Viewers)

There can't be that many places to hide, even in a major metropolitan area, and pretty much every free officer in the Northeast helping to try to corral the guy.
CBS Boston stated the Police told them they have 90% of the search area completed.
I'm still a little puzzled as to how they lost track of him after exchanging gunfire. I know it was dark, but I'd think someone would have kept a bead on him.
As am I. You would think they would have had at least a couple of choppers out and the cops were right there...did no one take off after him?
It was late at night.. Unles copters had heat sensors they'd be no help.
FLIR, or another infrared system, would have been a big help. Still, somebody had to have been watching.

That's not true at all. Police choppers have huge spotlights on them. They are all over the place at night in L.A. when the police are looking for suspects at night.
True.. Sounds like this all went down really fast.. No time to call in the copters.

You can't run away from the ghetto bird.

Can someone answer 2 simple questions for me like I'm snogger?

1. When he was last seen, was he on foot or in the car? I know he ran over his brother leaving the scene, but the current search seems like he escaped on foot and is holed up in vicinity.

2. What exactly started this last night? Neither is an MIT student, correct? What were they doing on campus and what happened with the officer?

I'll hang up and listen.
I think they found the vehicle he was last seen in, but didn't see him once he was on foot. He must have lost them temporarily, ditched the car, and found a place to hide in the neighborhood.

The original timeline says it started with the 7-11 robbery but then someone came out recently and said they didn't rob the store. The MIT cop shooting was soon after that. I haven't heard all the details but it sounds like they ambushed him rather than him recognizing them or catching them in some type of bomb planting act.

Sounded like the incident happened pretty quickly. Probably didn't have enough time to get a chopper in the area.

I'm sure there are very valid reasons for him getting away but it seems strange. 200 rounds excanged, bombs thrown, suspects leaves in a car. You think they would have had numerous choppers already deployed and cops every where to cut him off or follow him or something...

Unless it's a good day.

State Police released a summary of the events that led to the death of bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev and the closing of metro Boston communities as law enforcement searched for his younger brother. In a statement, police said the first indication of trouble was 10:24 p.m. when MIT Police received a call from someone reporting they had heard what they feared was gunshots. Four minutes later, the 7-11 store at 750 Massachusetts Avenue was the victim of an armed robber =- but that crime was not commited by the brothers, State Police now say.One minute later, however, authorities allege that the brothers did shoot and kill MIT Police Oficer Sean A. Collier as the officer sat in his MIT cruiser. Two minutes later, authorities receive a call that a car has been carjacked by two men outside 816y Memorial Drive. A short time later – it was not immediately clear – a Transit Police officer spots the vehicle and pursues, a chase that came to a stop in Watertown.’In the moments that followed, 200 rounds were fired by police and apparently by the brothers. Police also recovered “numerous pieces of evidence” including “evidence of homemade explosives, including pipe bombs and another pressure cooker,’’ State Police said. Also, contrary to what Alben said earlier this afternoon, no potential explosives were found on Norfolk Street in Cambridge where the two brothers lived, and a planned “controlled explosion’’ was deemed unwarranted.“We did not have to do the controlled detonation,’’ State Police spokesman David Procopio wrote. “We thought a car there might have an explosive but it did not.’’
So wait, these two guys make a quick 7-11 trip (I believe they've got video of White Hat in there), are just leaving when someone else knocks it over, causing police to respond; they panic, shoot the responding officer, and then carjack someone? Is that what happened?

Tripped a motion sensor in a building they knew he went into.

Report disturbance at MIT. MIT officer responds and got shot. speculation from the sheer amount of bombs they had on their person suggests they were planning on planting bombs around the city last night.
So he left the scene in a car then entered a building? How do they know he tripped the sensor?
It showed up on my HUD. That's one of the benefits of having the Hacker perk.

Looking & discussing entrances--Something going down. 4 units in area

Should be over shortly.

I agree, but the issue with the choppers isn't because they may or may not be equipped with heat sensors.

I feel sorry for their father who is in Russia. They interviewed him and his initial reaction was they didn't do it, not my boys. They've been set up. He's obviously in denial and when reality hits, he will need help to get through his emotional devastation.

Yup... When I go somewhere without them it takes me awhile to figure out what I'm "missing". But some of those near me are also hospitals and fire dept choppers as I live near a large park.

Last guy was elderly male.
Same elderly male in photo released yesterday of #2 leaving the marathon scene without backpack? The same guy who is smiling looking at #2 run away while everyone else's face is nothing but sheer terror? I wonder.
That guy is half falling over into the barricade. I think that's more of a wince or squint than a smile.
That would be something though. Maybe their handler. At least that's how it plays out on 24.

Heat sensors are useless in Boston, everyone knows alcohol lowers your body temperature.

People NOT Happy with Timing of Boston Bombings:

I'm sure the Russian government will be helpful in providing him resources to endure this trying time in his native Chechnya.

Domino's pizza in Boston probably taking a big hit tonight.

Former Bush counterterrorist advisor, Frances Townsend and other CNN reporters have reported that the suspects threw 5 pipebombs (3 exploded) and 1 grenade during carjacking and shoot out. Suspects admitted to carjacking victim that they were the marathon bombers.

I have been following the Texas story. Looks like many are still missing, very sad. I won't go into what I think of Rick " I want to secede" Perry asking for federal dollars but I do hope the company will be made to pony up. This wasn't a natural disaster after all.

Who looks to the government for mental help anywhere, let alone Russia... I hope this father has a good family support system and isn't completely alone over there.

What was odd was they seemed to not want to continue the search for him after they found the car and wanted to wait until morning or something. I found it really weird at the time. Perhaps because they had to go on people's property and ring doorbells and things and it was after 4:00 am. And then they seemed to be diverting some resources responding to other instances of people being put in cuffs as suspects when they were not the guy. It really seemed like... once they found the vehicle, they decided to wait until morning before conducting a serious search for him.

Wasn't this because they were working on evacuating the area asap for safety? I didn't catch the whole timeline thing.
