Fantasy APIs (1 Viewer)

The description of this new feature from the yahoo website says this:

Fantasy APIs

The Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football APIs provide rich data on leagues, teams and player information. Software developers can use this data to build non-commercial tools and applications that help analyze draft results, review free agents, optimize rosters, or whatever else you can imagine.

Can someone who understands what this means, explain how it impacts me as an avid fantasy footballer?

I'm draw to 'analyze draft results, review free agents, optimize rosters, or whatever else you can imagine" and if I have to learn software developing to use it, or find someone who does, I'd like to know...

Thanks!

It just means that Yahoo now provides a way for a program to read the various pieces of data shown in the game over the web individually, instead of only accessing them through web pages. So someone could, for example, download various player stats and import them into Excel for analysis or presentation (in fact, Excel could just fetch the values directly over the web with scripts).

API stands for application programming interface.

It'll allow you to code an application such as an iPhone app that can pull data from their servers, things like the most common free agents, highest scores and such most likely..

Thanks for the link, and the heads up I may just be using for an iPad/ iPhone app!

So unless someone creates a free app (since I have no idea how to program), this really means nothing to me....?
No, it means that unless you learn to program or someone creates a new app, this really means nothing to you.Grab a VB book, learn how to import into Excel and use macros to manipulate data.
