How do you handle them in your leagues if you've allowed players listed as out to be eligible for your IR? In one of my leagues we specifically had a rule saying they weren't eligible for our IR but we also allowed players listed as out to be eligible, causing a gray area. This actually started happening a year or two ago when the league changed how they listed suspended players on their injury report, but has become more of an issue this year because of the several high profile guys entering the season suspended. We had a league vote to determine whether they'd be eligible or not based on their official injury report designation, and it passed, but now I'm seeing the designation (at least on MFL) changed from "O" to "S". So my other question is has the league officially changed how it's designating suspended players on its injury report or is this just an MFL thing? I can't seem to find anything that clarifies whther anything's been officially changed. If it has, it makes our league vote moot.

You should see about having the settings to where you can place anyone on the IR, whether they're suspended or on the IR or maybe even just buried on the depth chart (if you're in a really deep league). You can then set it to where you can't touch the player for a certain number of days. Most leagues I've been in are like this, and you then can't touch the player for 90 days after deactivating them. Just throwing this out there.... you may have already known this.

Yeah, know that and have it set that way already. Just was fishing for whether the NFL changed the designation on how they're listing them or if it was just MFL differentiating out-suspended from out-injured. Can't find anything, and it actually makes a difference in a lot of leagues this year whether you have to address a rule change or not.

The "S" designation is coming from Rotowire, not from the NFL injury report. The NFL doesn't put out a preseason injury report, so MFL provides the Rotowire injury status during the preseason.

Thanks Greg, that answers my question.

From the MFL setup page for Injured Reserve...Can a player be deactivated when he is listed as "Suspended"? No Yes

They must have just added that today because it wasn't there when I looked this morning. Possible I missed it, but I don't think so considering I went in that menu looking specifically for something.

From an MFL announcement released this morning:

Better Handling Of Suspended Players - we've changed how we handle players that have been suspended by the NFL. Previously, we listed them as "Out" on the NFL Injury Report, but effective immediately, they will be listed as Suspended on that report. And with this change, for those leagues that use injured reserve, there is a new option on the "Injured Reserve Setup" page titled "Can a player be deactivated when he is listed as "Suspended"? Yes/No"

Four our league (still on CBS unfortunately), we have a liberal IR position. We drafted last night and agreed that Suspended players do not qualify for the IR position. Suspension are just something you have to deal with. In most cases you have advanced knowledge of when they will be suspended unlike injuries.
