Fargo TV series on FX - season 3 starts TONIGHT 4/19!!! (1 Viewer)

SOA is better then Fargo. Both silly but at least SOA acknowledges it.

Fargo throws in quotes during monologues that throw u off the scent how ridiculous it is.

Fargo is like Million Dollar Baby and Mystic River.

Those movies got nominations and loads of acclaim.

They are not good movies. Melodrama crap.

I like how in Fargo you can just pull shotguns on cops with no repercussions.

I saw that in Justified. Great show but not acclaimed.

Place marker for later as I collect my thoughts.  Just got done with S2.  While I am not quite to the level Daywalker is at, I think I am closer to him than the heaps of praise thrown at the show, especially season 2.

To answer your question, The General, yes I disliked Mad Max Fury Road a lot.  Now you have me wondering what your point is.

Said it later in the thread, just calibrating my entertainment gauge against other posters. There is no right answer.

He must have a point, though i know not what either, because i think 98% of action movies are stoopid but loved Fury Road and love Fargo. hmmmm

Overall I appreciate what the show is doing.  It looks fantastic, has great characters and acting, and the soundtrack is good.  Put all these things together, and I get why it's placed among the best shows going now.  I know we say we are in the golden age of TV as far as the fantastic content being put out at the top of the class, but let's not pretend there isn't a large amount of garbage being pumped out there too, so shows like Fargo definitely stand out from the pack.

I think the long and short of why I didn't like S2 as much as S1 is for my money there:  1.  Wasn't a character nearly as great as BBT  2.  There wasn't a story arc that was as big as Lester's, and 3.  There wasn't anything that was a good looking as the whiteout shoot out in S1.     IMO the highs of S2 never reached the highs of S1.

I think a lot of my downgrading of S2 came on the heels of Episode 9.  There was so much I didn't like about that episode that I was less than excited to fire of Ep10.  Started with the storybook reading of the story to us my Martin Freeman, to the annoying freezing of the action during the shootout, and ended up with a ####in' UFO deus ex machina-ing around and saving our heroes.  I think a lot of it had to do with expectations coming into the season, and I kept hearing that they found their own voice, but there were still a lot of Coen bros nods - just to other movies like Miller's Crossing and Man Who Wasn't There.   IMO that episode felt like a lot of style over substance, and since it was at the end of the season it left a really sour taste in my mouth.

I think Fury Road is the one movie of the last decade that I just don't get the love for at all.  I have tried 3 times now and think it's dumb as hell.  See it on a ton of "best of" lists, and I realize I am in the vast minority on that one.    I am not an action movie fan in general either.

Same page. Not a comic book movie fan even as popcorn entertainment. Deadpool, Guardians of the Galaxy, and 1st Iron Man are the only ones that I'd say I enjoyed.

MMFR was the best movie I saw that year.

I had a feeling, besides your dislike for some of actors, was due to the UFO part and I was correct.. I understand how that could turn people off, but I liked the "levity" it brought to an otherwise VERY intense episode. It was definitely a   moment for many but since they had hinted about it from the start, IMO, it fit the storyline.

ooo, i couldnt tell you what happened, but i gave myself up to Fury Road - which i almost NEVER do - and had a blast. like "Gravity" was one of the great experiences i've had in a theater, because 3D matched that scale so beautifully and created a very special brand of wonder, but i wont watch in 2D cuz i'm afraid it probably sucks. maybe its my age a lil.

Back to Fargo S2 - the banality of death in a place which so represents an area where a waitress would respond to "Klaatu barada nikto" with "Soooo, you want pie, hon? The gooseberry's top notch, donchaknow" matches that of a world where 40,000 people (1/3 children) die each day from the simple inability to sustain life but is a total yawn to folks who fret over Megyn Kelly's career choices and get homicidally angry over puppy abuse and go out and spend dough that would save entire villages on sports tickets and sous vides. Even i've forgotten my point by now......Mildred, where's my tea?!

IMO, Fury needed to be experienced in the theater.. I purchased the dvd when it came out based on my enjoyment of seeing it in the theater... I watched it once and :  it now will collect dust on the shelf.

My whole take on the disappointment of Fury Road was that I was expecting the movie to be centered on the Mad Max character.

Not for him to be in a supporting role to the Charlize Theron character. It almost seemed the movie was made for the sole purpose

of introducing her character for possible future films.

It was just the final "#### off" moment for me.  I disliked the fish tornado in S1 just as much, but I think I got over it more b/c there was more quality show after it.  The UFO presence was there all season, but I guess I thought it would be something silly like Betsy's cancer was from an abduction or something (thought that's why she zoned out after seeing the kids' picture).

I think I was bound to not love it from the start, as I usually don't find stories about mob/crime families all that interesting.  So when a good chunk has to do with them, and the other huge chunk is following 2 characters that I don't like at all, I don't have much invested in what's going on.

A little late to the party but absolutely love this show.  Best thing on TV since Breaking Bad.  Season 1 and 2 will be hard to top.

anyone else see the trailer? does anything happen in this show.. looks boring.  i'm already ready to tap out and the season hasn't even started.

needs more laser light show and babes in bikinis

Lol.  Cant be any slower than The Americans.  At this point, you trust the process.  Like Bart Scott & GBJ #CantWait

Not sure if this was posted here, but worth mentioning:

Peggy and Ed forever! Fargo costars Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons are engaged, a source confirms to Us Weekly.

Dunst, 34, and Plemons, 28, fell for each other after meeting during season 2 of FX's Fargo. The couple played married high school sweethearts Peggy and local butcher Ed.

They sound actualized.
