Fat Pilot (1 Viewer)

I'm about to take off on a flight this morning and the pilot came down the aisle to ask one of the passengers to put up his window cover. The guy was huge, easily 300 lbs. He walked down the aisle sideways and beyond just being fat he was broad. You could easily watch a movie on his back. He squeezed into the cockpit.

I'm not trying to make this an anti-fat thread (although I'm open to it) but i found it interesting as most pilots I've come across tend to be smaller guys. I have to imagine they had to make a custom pilot's chair for him.

Just because one is obese, they don't necessarily have a medical condition that would require them to fail a pilot's physical.
Being obese is a medical condition and has its own diagnostic code.  It absolutely should fail them if they have lives at stake.

I'd have a hard time thinking they made him a custom chair. They don't always fly the same plane and no way they are putting custom chairs in multiple planes to accommodate this guy.

seems fake - I mean when is the last time a pilot asked a passenger to raise their window shade

Window shades need to be up on takeoff and landing so that in the case of a problem or emergency landing, flight crew can see out the windows to determine safety. Not every airline does this however.

No.

And yes, he does have to pass an annual flight physical. So you won't see too many obese pilots. Guess he has a good ticker, low cholestoral and blood pressure.

I saw he thread title and assumed this was the name of a band. Would be a killer band name.
