Favorite songs for all 50 states (1 Viewer)

For Michigan, I'd take Lake Michigan by Rogue Wave, anything off Sufjan Stevens Michigan album or I've Got a Gal in Kalamazoo before I even considered RHCP or Kid Rock. Two of my least favorite artists/bands.

I thought about the wreck of the Edmund fitzgerald. But it's about a once great ship which sunk and nobody could stop it from sinking.

It's a little too on the nose.

Wait wtf is wrong with RHCP? Some of you are old #####y men.
I just don't like RHCP and I'm not an old man. I was basically their target audience having gone to middle school and high school in the mid to late 90s. I just didn't care for RHCP outside of maybe 2 songs.

Delaware - Delaware Slide

*Florida - Orange Blossom Special

New Jersey - Take your pick of Springsteen songs: Born to Run, Atlantic City, Jersey Girl, 4th of July Asbury Park, etc. etc. I'm sure I missed some good ones.

Seems Bruce has covered too many locations. Nebraska, Philadelphia, badlands, 57th Street, Youngstown. I'm sure there are more

Since this has turned into city anarchy, I'm going with Dying In New Brunswick by Thursday for New Jersey and Olympia by Hole for Washington

Also, this thread sounds like a thing They Might Be Giants would do as a sampler at the end of one of their albums.

Missing this one

Carolina in the Pines

Going to California - Led Zep

All My Ex's live in Texas- George Strait

No problem including cities in the thread, but they won't count as the state song unless the city is one of the first things you think of when someone mentions the state. Detroit works for Michigan, Atlantic City works for NJ. New Brunswick and Olympia, not so much. Pittsburgh...
