Favre welcomes grandchild to family

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)—The Minnesota Vikings may have finally found their quarterback of the future: Brett Favre(notes) is now a grandfather.

His 21-year-old daughter, Brittany, has given birth to a boy—Parker Brett. The little gunslinger weighs in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

Grandpa Brett says on his Web site that he and wife Deanna are “very proud” to welcome their first grandchild.

Favre has yet to announce whether he will return to the Vikings and play a 20th season in the NFL. Last year the 40-year-old enjoyed one of his best years and helped lead the Vikings to the NFC title game.

The baby’s arrival was first reported by the Minneapolis Spokesman-Recorder.

The NFL says it knows of no other grandfathers among current players.
my money's on Grandpa Favre playing football in 2010.

As was his father. Big Irv couldn't have been more than 46 when Brit was born. Congrats Favre family!

The daughter is pretty young, so not sure whether she still lives at home. If so, you can mark down Favre for a 20th season. Fo those of us that have kids, that first year is rough...guessing he will do anything to get out for 5 months.

Super Bowl 70: QB Parker Brett vs. QB Benjamin Brady
actually, it should be Parker Favre.
Brett is not the baby's last name.
Is it Favre? I didn't see it mentioned in the article. Thought it might be something else so I just used the first name.
the article also mentions "Grandpa Brett."

In spite of numerous calls by Brad Childress, he cannot confirm that Brett will report to his grandson's baptism this summer.

A word of advice to grandpa Favre - don't let ADP hold the baby.

Two very good posts.Im sure he already heard lots of "gramps" jokes just from being older...now they will be relentless on him.It was odd though, for some reason thought the daughter was younger...guess just from him playing for the Packers so long I had not realized she was 21.

Favre never had a little boy and only being 40 years old, I imagine this will be a very special Grandpa/Grandson relationship, in fact I would guess it will feel more like father/son in some regards. Lucky little Parker, gonna have Grandpa Brett teaching him everything about football, will be a great story if the little one follows in the bloodlines.

yeah, I was a liittle taken aback by little Brittany being 21 already, too! Seems like just yesterday her old man was talking about hanging them up so he could enjoy the last year or two with her at home before she went off to college.

This is Shark Pool material?
yes. when Grandpa Favre says, "where did I put my keys?" you might consider knocking him down a notch in your draft rankings.
Offseason shark pool news, plus its a nice positive storywhats the chances of Grandpa brett and Parker being the first grandson/grandpa to play in the NFL? Didnt the Ripkins do this in baseball?
Cal Ripken, Sr. coached, don't believe he played ball. But he did coach at the same time as Junior. I don't think Grandpa Favre has the stuff to be an NFL coach someday. But I'll bet he'll keep playing quarterback for the next 10 years...passing to Parker Favre in his backyard in Kiln, Mississippi.

Is Farve her real dad or step-dad?
The baby would have the father's last name, not the mothers.
If the parents are married, sure. But if not that's not necessarily true. But the only reports so far have given the name of "Parker Brett", first and middle.

from Boston Herald: " The Vikings quarterback, who has yet to decide whether he will return for a 20th NFL season, announced on his web site Tuesday that he became a grandfather Friday when his 21-year-old daughter, Brittany, gave birth to a 7-pound, 7-ounce boy named Parker Brett. The father’s name was not revealed."

Another feel good story about Favre
what? that his daughter is a ho?

Eh, it was more a reference to the previous post about "ghetto" that was removed. I guess this is classier.
Holy crap! I didn't notice the "ghetto" post was removed, and the subsequent "old folks home". And now, eventually this one... What's this place coming to? Crazy.
