Favre to return? (1 Viewer)

Red Forman

I'd like to see him sign with the Vikes again. Bring him in as the "backup" to help mold Ponder. Start Ponder, and if/when he struggles, Favre comes in to save the day/season.

I like it.

I wouldn't put it past favre to return (again) as a starter. But no way he comes back as the designated backup.

NFL.com analyst suggests Favre interested in return

In an NFL.com chat on Tuesday, analyst and former VP of player personnel for the Cowboys Gil Brandt said Brett Favre could be interested in returning, again.

"I do think Favre would be interested in talking to a team about returning. But I don't see a team out there right now that would bring him back as a starter," Brandt said in the chat.

Favre retired, again, following the 2010 season. The 41-year-old is the NFL's all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns. He played in 13 games last season, throwing 11 touchdowns and 19 interceptions while battling injuries.

The way we see it

This is simply Brandt's opinion in a chat, not an NFL.com news report. Considering everything Favre put his body through last year (not to mention, throughout his entire career), another return would be even more shocking than his previous ones. While there are a handful teams that are in need of a starting quarterback, we doubt any team would want to go through what Minnesota went through last season, should Favre attempt to return. Despite Brandt's view, all signs still point to "no" when it comes to Favre giving it one more go.
Sounds like a lot of speculation to me with no real basis.

Agreed, I'll wait until I see Favre spoutin off about it somewhere, then I'll go jump off a cliff cuz I'm sick of hearing about this guy and his memeber.I can't wait to see a season start and he is not out there, he is a side show now, and him breaking down last season showed it.

One of the benefits of the labor dispute has been not having off-season coverage speculating on what Favre will do. It wouldn't shock me once the agreement is done that Favre makes a comment that he still thinks he can play.

Stat Whore Manning still in the hunt to break his records, expect Stat Whore Favre to return mid-season this year if an injury occurs to a contender.

With the lockout and what will be a rushed free agency period, with a couple more months rest I could absolutely see this being the case and teams won't be shy to sign him. He just looked terrible last year, a shell of his former self. Maybe he was pretty banged up and needed more rest.

If Detroit is right in the mix mid season and if Stafford goes down, I bet they give Favre a call and why not? He might as well go to another NFC North team! LOL!!!

I would. He went through a lot of pain last year and doubt he wants to repeat it. I think it's reporters looking for a story when there is little news.

Its hard to imagine that even Favre himself doesn't realize he'll never start for a contending team again. He's done on that front. And I doubt he has the desire to play for a team that'll very unlikely make the playoffs.

I see no mutual benefit between any team and Favre if he truly wont consider being a backup to the likes of, say, Matt Ryan.

I think it would be highly unlikely he will play again but if he does I will put my guess in on either the Dolphins or Titans as teams that would maybe be willing to do such a crazy thing. Maybe the Raiders?

There should be a nationwide Brett Favre jersey burning party. Much like they did in the 70s with disco records.

Ok, before you BF apologist crucify me, I'm just kidding.

Lots of talk he comes back and plays for the RAMS, he could lead them forward
?????they have a franchise QB.
Who's a lot better than the current Brett Favre. Will this guy EVER GO AWAY !!!
As long as he has something to contribute, no reason he shouldn't play for someone. Warren Moon played until he couldn't even get a third-string job. It's good money, so why not? He loves the spotlight and once he can't physically do it anymore, that opportunity will never come back. Plus, maybe his home life is less sunny so the field might be where he feels happiest. Whatever the reason, Brett Favre can probably still play. He just can't be "Brett Favre" anymore. But as a fill-in? Maybe. If Matt Schaub got hurt, if Favre really worse than what they have behind him? With Arian and Andre, couldn't Favre run the offense? I'm not usually a Favre apologist, but maybe the lockout has me thinking of it more from a business-only perspective. If he can do a job and earn the money, why not?

I personally love the Favre-talk that precedes each season. Now because I'm a Brett Favre fan or anything, but because it's funny to watch other people squirm and get agitated with the whole ordeal. I never really understood why people get so upset with Favre retirement talk. Either he will retire, or he won't.

The only thing I've ever been concerned with is whether or not he'll make his decision by the time my fantasy football draft arrives. Other than that who the hell cares?

i hope he comes back and then in the middle of a playoff game the lovely deanna divorces him on the jumbotron for his filandering ways and weiner texting and he goes on to trhrow about 7 ints in the second half and his team loses by about 49 points and then the nfl reopens the text scandaland bans him fromfootball meaning he never makes the hall of fame

Has he practiced at a high school yet? IIRC someone here pointed out that that has shown his intentions through all the other stuff.

Bump.
