Favre to the Bucs? (1 Viewer)

I have an old college buddy who works at channel 12 WISN and he called me and says the guys in the sports department are saying that a deal between the Packer and Bucs has already been done and they are just trying to sell it to Favre. If the Bucs can convince Favre to restructure his contract they will offically announce the trade soon.

I wondered why TB was getting so many votes. See my new poll I just made. It's a hit as I made it at the perfect time!

ESPN has announced he's in a meeting with his family about a trade. But I was hoping Minny so he can make them PAY twice!

I don't know. My ex-girlfriends cousin sleeps with a guy in the New York Jets organization and she told me they worked out a deal for Pennington and a 3rd.

Classy, intelligent post. I hope some people will learn from your example before shooting the messenger.

Report: Packers, Bucs discussing Favre trade

Favre

ESPN's Ed Werder says that the Packers and Buccaneers are currently discussing a Brett Favre trade.

Meanwhile, Favre is considering whether he'd be willing to play for the Bucs, as if he hasn't known it was a possibility for a month. Favre would have plenty of time to pick up Tampa Bay's offense, and Jeff Garcia would certainly throw a hissy fit to be remembered. Aug. 5 - 4:37 pm et

Love the zingers they thrown in there. Wonder how this is any different than the trade talks they had last week or the week before.

Could this explain the lengthy meetings with Favre and the Packers the last few days? I would suspect that they may have been conferencing with Tampa Bay trying to convince Favre to accept the trade?

QB leaves Packers camp after coming to 'stalemate' about role on team

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Brett Favre is considering a trade to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after coming to "a stalemate" with the Green Bay Packers about what his role was supposed to be, ESPN reported Tuesday.

The Packers have placed Favre on the non-football injury list, meaning that he is not able to practice because of a non-football related injury, Pro Sports Exchange reported Tuesday.

The non-football injury list is normally used for players who have failed their camp physical, PSX added. The Packers have not said if Farve failed a physical or if he has an injury.

UPDATE: Indeed, the savebrett.net website, citing a source close to Favre, said it in fact the two sides have already agreed. This is the same website that has fought hard for Favre's return to the team as the starter, and indeed was the first site to report last Friday that Favre was not considering the $20 million dollar deal to sit but would instead make his way back to Green Bay. Anyway, here's the link:

Let's keep this about the Bucs for a moment. If Brett is not going to retire (let's say 5% chance) and probably won't play for the Packers (maybe 15%), then you gotta figure a trade to the Bucs has a probability of at least 60% .

So basically, Jeff Garcia is completely undraftable at this point. Would you bump Galloway any higher than he is ranked now? Do guys like Hilliard, Clayton, or Bryant become viable fantasy WRs?

I think Graham can move up to the second or third round easily -- even if he doesn't carry the load (see the Graham thread for more), Favre would use him a LOT in the passing game.

It seems like it's becoming a last resort but he did say earlier in July he didn't want to play for the Bucs because of the heat. What's Farve's record in days where it's 80 plus outside?

This would be one of the stupidest things in the world for TB IMO. Good luck getting Favre to learn that complex offense TB.

Farve is better than Garcia, without a question of a doubt. He's better than Garcia if he just walked in the huddle and they made up plays. For one, Farve can throw the ball longer than 30 yards in the air. This would be VERY good news for Joey Galloway who just hasn't been able to use his speed to his full capability the last couple years. This would be bad news for Jeff Garcia......or do you think they'll have an open competition for the job. *smiles*

Joey Galloway gets a 10 spot boost in my rankings.
I'd move him down 10 spots.
Just run Joey, I'll throw it to you 50 yards down field. Seems easy to me.It's bad news to guys like Graham who got a million dink and dunk passes from a guy like Garcia because all the WR's were covered because the defense doesn't worry about getting beat deep with Garcia in the offense, playing a 40 yard umbrella.

This will be bad for the Bucs and Galloway. Favre will struggle heavily in that offense. It's known to be the most complex in the NFL and he is already 2 weeks late to camp and had no off-season what so ever. Favre has never been a disciplined QB to begin with. He'll probably show up to camp. See the play book. Then say "Oh ####, I'd better retire again. This is way to freaking hard!"

Green Bay RBs caught an average of 100 passes per year for the past two years. Buccaneer RBs caught 115 passes last year. I don't see how this hurts Graham much, if at all.

Sorry if I jumped the gun, we'll have to wait for official confirmation, from jsonline: and this is another update as of 4:48 p.m., two other sources close to Favre said no trade has been finalized as of yet.

I don't know Jurb, I give him a little more credit to Farve than that and I'm sure Gruden will be able to simplify things to start so that he'll fit in if he were to go to the Bucs.In the end, the end being at the end of the year and the playoffs, the Bucs would have a better shot at winning the SB than they do with Garcia. At season's end, Farve would have that system down enough to make a playoff run.

I still disagree. It took Garcia two full years to learn that system (having previous experience in a somewhat similar system) and although Garcia may not be as physically gifted as Favre I give him far more credit being able to digest and learn a play book.

Well, I certainly respect your opinion and we'll have to disagree on this one if indeed Farve goes to Tampa Bay. I think in the end, Tampa Bay is a more dangerous team come playoff time with a Brett Farve than Garcia. I do agree that there would be a learning curve and even in Green Bay he'd have to shake off some rust since it's already August.

I just talked to my daughter and she told me that the Bucs are in negotiations with Carolina for Steve Smith. My daughter is a very good friend of Ken Lucas. I also understand that Favre will only accept a trade to TB if the bucs can pull it off. ;) \

Sorry, no link to my daughter.

Yeah, I hope that Joe Bryant guy sticks around and posts more.

Is this a joke or for real?

That is very dangerous, because I don't have either Favre or Smith on my FF team. I do have Graham though, so I guess I would be in favor.

Garcia is already making backup QB money, so this might just work. I wonder which of the other 4 QBs wins the 3rd QB spot. My guess is the rookie.

Guess I will bump Galloway up a bit ...

pics at least?

As a Bucs fan having Favre would be nice, but I would feel bad for Garcia. All the guy does is win everywhere he goes and he keeps getting the shaft :kicksrock: I'm not saying he's the greatest alltime or anything, but the guy has a lot of heart, plays tough, and knows how to win.

Yup, we remember the guy who broke the Leftwich being cut by Del Rio announcement 1 year ago. Good stuff.
