FBG - Annual QB & Def by Committee Article (1 Viewer)

The DTBC one should be available on the website tomorrow. The QBBC seems unlikely to make it before this weekend, but very likely to make it before next weekend. Give that one about a week or so; until then, consider what Clayton Gray wrote.

No pressure dude, but the QBBC article is the #2 reason why I subscribe to FBG. The #1 reason being I want to support the company who supports this board. Anything you can do to get the QBBC out before next weekend is most apreciated.

Using Draft Dominator last weekend at a live draft, I ended up with a QBBC of Vince Young & Ben Rothelisberger (sp). Ben has an easy schedule starting out, until I feel out how Vince's production will be.

Agreed, and my 2QB league drafts this Sunday. I understand if it can't happen, but if there's anyway it can I would love to see it.

http://subscribers.footballguys.com/2007/07stuart_dtbc.phpAs promised, DTBC got up on Wednesday. Big thanks for Clayton Gray for getting it formatted so quickly. QBBC should hit the website by Wednesday at the latest.

Additionally, there was a special request in the Shark Pool for a user-friendly feature. Just goes to show you, all the requests you guys make are strongly considered. Click here for a pretty cool file to take to your draft.

Sure.If you look at Row 29 (SF) and Column L (Detroit), you see the intersection of the schedules for SF and Detroit. Their combined schedule score is 3404, which isn't very good. If you look one column over to the right, you see the combined schedule score for SF and GB, 3273. So you can tell quickly that SF/GB is a better combo than SF/Det.

The value here is after you select your first defense. You can then scroll across all the columns quickly to see what matches up well. So if you take the Colts with your first pick, it takes only seconds to see what defenses form the best combs with Indianapolis. The huge table displayed in the article is ideal to use before before you select your first defense; this excel file is ideal to use after you select your first defense.

Obviously you don't need to draft two defenses or use this file, but for those that want this capability, I think it's pretty neat.

Two top 10 QBs, nice.

Fun with excel. A few formulas and a few clicks can make the DTBC spreadsheet more colorful and easier for the eyes to pick up the best combos for each team.

1. In cell AI3 enter the formula "=max(B2:AG2)"

2. Highlight cell AI3 and move your cursor towards the box lower right hand corner of AI3. Once your cursor turns from a fat cross into a skinny one, double click. This will copy the formula all the way down.

3. In cell AJ3 enter the formula "=large(B2:AG2,2)" and do the double click auto copy thingy from step 2.

4. In cell AK3 enter the forumla "=large(B2:AG2,3)" and do the double clicky thing again.

5. Highlight cell B2

6. Go to the FORMAT menu and select "Conditional Formatting..."

7. Under "Condition 1" select "Cell Value Is" in the first drop down menu, "equal to" in the second, and type "=AI2" in the third box.

8. Click on the "Format..." button. Go to the "Pattern" tab and pick a color (I picked bright asss orange). The best combo will be this color. Click "OK" in the Format Cells window.

9. Click on the "Add>>" button.

10. Under "Condition 2" select "Cell Value Is" in the first drop down menu, "equal to" in the second, and type "=AJ2" in the third box. Go to "Format" button again and select another slightly less offensive color (I picked peach). This will be the color of the second best combo.

11. Do this (9 & 10) again, but make the value equal to AK2 and pick another color (I went with light yellow).

12. Click "OK" in the "Conditional Formatting" window. You should see no change in the spreadsheet.

13. Copy cell B2. Highlight the range B2 to AG33. Right click, and "Paste Special..." Select "Formats" and hit OK.

14. Open your mouth in amazement now that your spread sheet has been lit up with the best combo in bright ### orange, 2nd best in peach, and 3rd in yellow.

Hopefully this works for you. (I'm not great at writing instructions). I think it makes it easier to read the spreadsheet instead of trying to scan the whole row looking for the highest number.

oh, and btw. I bought a hoodie today. I picked a red one.

You might want to change this. As Chase explains above, lower is better. You might want to try MIN and SMALL as the functions instead.

I see the QBBC article is out. Is there any way to attach the full grid of two man QBBC like the TDBC article has?
Hey Ramblin,It's possible, but the article already gets so long and the important stuff (what the other top combos are) is specifically addressed in the body of the article, that I never add the full grid of two-man QBBC. If you want it though, I could shoot you an e-mail with that. Just say the word.Chase

Any thoughts on how to sort this data for a 2-start QB team with only 2 QBs on the roster? We can add a sub if one of our starters is on a bye or listed as OUT on the injury report for that week only. 12-team league, just to make it that much more challenging.

Headbutts, was that you who e-mailed me? I just sent you a reply. The jist of it is playing in this type of league doesn't lend itself to a committee strategy at all. You will simply start your 2 QBs each week. The only advice I can give is to use the SOS charts found at the bottom of the article. I think that's pretty useful, though, and will point you towards guys with easy/hard schedules.
