Instead of scoring points against via tiers (ex: 0=25, 1-5=20, 6-10=15, etc.) how about a "Scoring System" option to provide a starting score (ex: 25 points) and subtract -1 point for every 1 point scored against your defense? Using the -1/1pt scoring method it is possible that your defense can score a negative amount of points if your defense were to allow more points scored than your starting score allowed.
I'm not sure how many leagues are going to this format but I previously was in two custom CBS leagues with this type of scoring and ESPN seemed to change to this format this year as well so I'm interested in how many other leagues use this format and if FBG should add something like this into their available "Scoring System" calculations on the various cheatsheets. Using the "Standard FBG Scoring" list it basically gives me a range of approx. 6 points separating the top and bottom defenses each week but in -1/1pt. scoring system the difference can realistically be +30 for the top D/ST vs. -15 for the bottom!
