He was a poster I actually felt bad about. It was obvious that he suffered from sort of psychological issue. The fishermen on this board would throw out the stinkiest bait and he always got hooked, unleashing these raging incoherent tirades with the bizarre capitalization.

I've been here since Ol' Yeller and for my money he was the best debater this board has ever seen. And we have some pretty good ones here. I thought sometimes he would get bored because he was so much better at it than the rest of us and he would argue the side he didn't believe in just for the exercise.

Plus he was irascible and funny. Idiots trembled before him.

This was who I was thinking about. He had a disdain for people that was awesome.

Agree... heavy-handed as a mod, but he brought the funny and would actually let you know what you did wrong instead of just making it some weird guessing game.

He was kind enough to let me have user # 20000 for this username. "BowieMercs" got an autoban  back on old yeller when I signed up with the email address webmaster@thesidelines.com (Apparently joe thought the webmaster email address was sketchy) after the great thehuddle.com exodus happened. Then I burned thru countless aliases & IP adresses while carrying the :obc:  banner.

Still think about Shiny regularly. Took a bit of the boards soul with him IMO.

Ultimate Browns Fan was a trip. The idea that anyone had to bait him into a rant is silly. Dude loved to rant. And he often ranted at me. As you know I don't fish.

BGP is legendary of course. Had to be shtick but part of me wants him to have been 100% the real deal.

Smoo is also one of the legendary characters. Would have loved to met him. Of course I think he still shows up on occasion.

Wikkid is certainly missed. What  storyteller. Any time he drops by is reason for celebration.

BSR and Mrs were good folks, glad someone mentioned they are doing well.

Always liked Kid C but boy did that end badly.

So many gone from when i first signed up back in the old days when every subject was a new debate. IIRC the first thread I ever posted in was an evolution thread that I think went over 100 pages. MT was in there giving them heck as only he can and I joined in. I remember the debates before GWB took us into Iraq and during that conflict. I got called some very ugly things for being against it. I doubt some of those threads would have survived today. But back then page after page. Those were the days. Now I don't really do the multi-page debates any more, I leave that for Tim mostly, but back in the day I was a posting machine. I would argue until no one else would. And even though I post less I still I really care about this community warts and all. I don't think I'll ever completely leave until it's gone or I am whichever comes first.
