FedEx lost package or package stolen. Am I boned? (1 Viewer)

So I bought some clothes online and had them delivered.  Apparently they came last Saturday.  I didn't check tracking till tonight.  I was here for most of the day and definitely when they were supposed to be delivered.  I left probably 2 hours after it says the package was delivered, but there wasn't a package outside when I left.  I live in an apartment complex with key fob access, on the second floor.

I called FedEx tonight to report that I didn't receive the package.  They're now "investigating" the issue.  Am I drawing dead to ever see my package/get my money back?  Is there some other course of action I should take?

TIA will answer yours

Well at least it's only clothes that came up missing

I'm sure between the merchant and fedex they'll make it right, just be glad it wasn't something irreplaceable

Done. What was the declared value.  You can probably get $100 out of them.

I I have a theory that the only reason FedEx and ups are in business is because they have conspired to suck equally.  Two of the two worst companies on the planet in terms of service.

NFW.

You didn't get the clothes.  You won't pay.  Call CC company and dispute the charges in the meantime if the clothes company is ####### you around.

Also one time I ordered a video card from new egg and it showed UPS delivered it but it wasn't there when I got home

they were going to send me a new one but the next day it showed up on my porch with a note from my neighbor that said "enjoy your camera"

:lmao:  yes this was the first thing that went through my mind.  regardless of how this turns out, I think I'm going to just start requesting to sign for everything, clothes or otherwise.

Maybe they will show up in a few months. My mom mailed me my birth certificate using USPS last April and it showed up in July. Don't ever give up!

Abe apparently is descended from Neville Chamberlain.

Note:  Do not let Abe negotiate for anyone you care about.
If you don't declare the value and pay for insurance they offer $100 of insurance at no charge.  Ergo he can get $100 out of them absent having paid for insurance.

You're ######.  FedEx customer service is THE WORST.

They're going to investigate and then jerk you around forever.  Your best bet is to go straight to the shipper and see what they can do for you.

I had a bday gift literally burn down on their truck and it still was like drawing blood from a stone to get reimbursed.

Does this mean what I think it means?

Had some computer equipment one time which they said was delivered. Was home the entire time, and saw the notification within an hour of when they said they delivered it.  The merchant initiated whatever to have it looked into and shipped me a new one.

About 2 months later the first package showed up on my doorstep, unopened. Not sure what happened, an awful long time for it to have been sitting at the wrong house. I'm guessing they lost it and just marked it as delivered, then later it showed up and they delivered it anyway.

They did this to me too, except I shipped a used iphone to someone from ebay.  I had confirmation from the store I dropped it off at, yet Fed Ex disputed that it was ever dropped off there.  They never owned up to it being dropped off and refused to pay me back.  In the meantime, I had to refund the ebay buyer.  Then a few weeks later the tracking info updated - it was stuck in Fed Ex's warehouse in northern NJ.  How it ended up there when it was supposed to be going from DE to Houston, TX is beyond me.  I tried to have the shipment stopped, but they delivered it to the buyer.  Luckily the ebay buyer was cool and shipped it back to me.

#### Fed Ex.

So my leasing office ended up having it. They called me today, a week after it was delivered, to tell me. I also called them Thursday night to report the item missing. Good stuff.

I'm just here to complain about FEDEX, who is the worst shipping company by far. I had a bunch of issues with them during the covid days. I understood the situation and gave them a bit of a pass, but moved away from ever using them when I had the option.

Over the last month it has been constant issues. It started with a lost package. Just a hat, so it wasn't very important and I wasn't tracking the movement at all. After 3 weeks I follow up and sure enough its lost. Get a refund and move on.

Next I have an issue with a delivery driver going into my garage. I live in the country with no neighbors in sight. I leave the garage open most of the time because I'm out and about on the property a lot. I'm in the house when I see the FEDEX truck and then see the driver walking out of my garage. He delivered the package to the door connecting the garage to the house which is all the way in the back of my garage. I didn't get to say anything to him because of the timing of it all, but I was upset by that. Many deliveries have been left just inside the garage and I'm fine with that. My main entryway is very well covered, so he could have left the package at my front door as well. This bugged me more than it should, but there was no reason for it.

Last week I get a well pump delivered and left on the front door in a box that totally destroyed and taped back together. The pump had clearly fallen out of the box and had dents/scratches. I did a return where the driver comes to pick it up. Scheduled for the next day and it took 2 days of the package sitting on my porch before they picked it up.

I currently have a package with some expensive items that may be lost. Ordered a couple sets of headphones from best buy. I could have done store pickup, but the delivery date was only two days out so I went that route. It's now a week later and the package hasn't moved since monday. Package status is listed as "Delivery date will be added when package starts moving". I try using their virtual assistant on the website, enter the tracking number and it tells me my package is "on scheduled to be delivered 5/12."

Rant over. TL;DR FedEX sucks.

agreed - FedEx does suck.... I sent my FFA T-shirt stalkee his swag using FedEx and it got stolen off his porch (or the driver swiped it himself after taking the "hey, I delivered it" pic. I had used one of those mail/UPS/FedEx places to send it out, so they had to engage FedEx, but I ultimately got $100 from them. I will just use UPS or god forbid USPS in the future.

FedEx has been awful. Over the holidays, while other shipping companies had no issues, would have an expected delivery date/time and they'd just never show. Every package was 3-4 days late. One box was destroyed and they basically delivered a shovel with the label cut off the box and taped to it.

Last week, had an order from Samsclub. It came FedEx. They delivered it to the wrong house. The picture they took saying it was delivered wasn't my front door. It turned out to be a few doors down and I happened to see it driving home so I grabbed my stuff, but I had already submitted the claim.

Just heard back from them:

We recognize the importance of these shipments and while we don’t have any additional information about your specific shipment, we encourage you to contact your shipper for alternative options.

If the shipment is located, we will work to have it delivered as fast as possible.

We will now close this support ticket.

So, basically, "oh well, tough luck, nothing we can do".

FedEx is turning into the absolute worst.

They often intentionally deliver to the wrong address for us a couple doors down- because it's the only apartment building on the block with a doorman. Picture showing delivery more often than not clearly not our building. Hell, they used to delivery not just to our building, but would actually take the elevator to drop the box at our apartment door. Now we're lucky if it even makes it to the building lobby.

Bottom line- these folks aren't too bright, but at least compensate with a tremendous amount of laziness.

I was hoping for a 9 year bump that the package was finally delivered.

When I was deploying to Afghanistan often I ordered workout supplements that were lost in transit. The company ended up sending a replacement. About 9 months later (after I'd been gone for a while) someone from my unit contacted me to let me know I had a package show up. It was the supplements.

I don't think it was FedEx, but a story to inspire hope. I'm convinced the USPS throws packages in a landfill after a month.

I got a free Anova Soud Vide device out of fedex "losing" a package. Same thing, it came like 3 months later. The company had already replaced it and when I called them to setup a return they said they couldn't take it back as it was used to cook food and they had no way of being 100% sure it wasnt used, congrats on your free device.

I hate FedEx so much!! My rage knows no bounds.

I was expecting a delivery yesterday between 10am-1pm per the text they sent. No show. Check the tracking link and it gets updated to "sometime before the end of the day". No text that they are running late.

Wife had things to do after giving up her morning so she gets her dad to come over and wait while she's out. Driver comes around 4.

Driver tells my FIL the shipment lists 2 boxes, but he only has one on the truck. So he drops off the only box, takes a photo and leaves.

I get an email from both the seller and FedEx saying the delivery is complete. Fedex even asks for a review of the delivery. This was a good point to file a missing package claim. That paperwork was clown show. I had to answer a short questioner with extremely basic questions. Confirming address, was someone home, did you talk to your neighbors, did you look everywhere, where was it delivered, what color is your house.... bunch of questions along those lines.

To Fedex's credit they were quick to respond. They replied that indeed the package was delivered and placed in the garage along with a photo of the box in my garage. So I AGAIN had to spell out that it should be TWO boxes and I'm still missing one! So after that they finally get it and have opened an investigation. Now I wait apparently...

Similar thing happened to me last week. Ordered something on Amazon. Got their promo email saying "free shipping on anything else you need in the next 24 hours" and wouldn't you know it, later that day broke a part and found the replacement on Amazon for like $7. Hit Buy Now and got the free shipping.

Anyway, now I have 2 Amazon orders coming. Next day, email says I have 2 packages inbound. With 2 different tracking numbers. I'm home. The driver pulls up, drops one off, takes the picture, and sees me coming to the door. Says "Hold on a sec, says there's a second package in the truck."

Roots around back there for a second, then pops out and shrugs. "Nah guess not, that's all I got for you, I guess that's both" and drives off.

Seconds later, I get the email from Amazon. Both packages are now "delivered". Same photo for both. Mind you, the part I ordered was 18 inches long and the box in the picture is 10 inches across.

Amazon forced me to use their AI Customer Service bot to start a complaint. AI looks at the picture and says "your package has been delivered, maybe look behind the bushes or ask a neighbor". I try to explain the situation. AI replies: "your package has been delivered, maybe look behind the bushes or ask a neighbor". I tell the bot that the picture is wrong. "Your package has been delivered, maybe look behind the bushes or ask a neighbor". I tell the bot that the picture was for a different order. "Your package has been delivered, maybe look behind the bushes or ask a neighbor". Literally every reply is identical.

I'm sick of these giant "service" companies (Amazon, Ebay is another) using zero common sense bots to handle customer issues. They reply in seconds because there's no thinking going on. And when they make an obvious mistake, the only recourse is to "appeal" to a second bot that makes the same mistakes.

Update: They found the package and delivered it last night. Bad news is that the box had clearly broken apart and the contents fell out. It was missing the heavy duty plastic straps used on the other box in the shipment from the same manufacturer. The pieces were placed back in the box and FedEx used cut up shipping boxes to replace the cardboard in the original packaging. The box was tapped together with a whole roll of packing tape.

I took photos of the condition the box was in before opening it. It's workout equipment, so I'm not stressing it too much but the powder coating is scratched in places (probably not worth a claim at this point). I didn't notice any dents, but haven't fully inspected it yet as I was too tired to start building it last night. I'm hopeful no parts are missing.

I always worry if I buy off Ebay and they have a FedEx shipper. Have had quite a few scammers push FedEx links that get to the general area and have pictures of random houses/doors. Had one pic fairly recently that wasn't even a generic or Ebay box - it was a smaller (than size of items) and lighter (than the items weighed) box with literally another company's name on on it as the 'proof'.

Websites exist on how to make the spoof shipping. But not really sure making an Ebay account, getting a hundred sells under the belt, and then getting a few $30 scams before account deletion is worth the effort for these guys. Now the Christmas gaming console scams, I can see them getting big bucks in a few days. Never fell for those.

USPS and UPS are usually reliable links.
Some of the 'last mile' delivery company links can be iffy - and never understood why they're used as I'm not rural at all. Must be the seller doesn't actually have the item and is purchasing off a 3rd party that has a shipping contract. /dunno

2nd update: I built the machine last night and everything was there. Probably half a dozen spots where paint is chipped or a gash in the metal. Not enough to complain about (because it does no good anyway).

The fun part is that I received an email from FedEx stating they are still investigating my missing package claim and will let me know when they figure it out. The email explicitly states to not reply to it, so I'm just going to let them figure this out on their own.
