Fellow Giants Fans... next year's coach (1 Viewer)

0-2 with NO defense and injuries popping up on offense to boot.

Who do you think will be the Giants coach next year? Unless a real miracle happens, Coughlin will (thankfully) be gone. Fisher's not an option as he has re-signed with the Titans. A couple names to start the (likely year long) speculation...

Bill Cowher - Certainly a chance that he returns to coaching next year, but is he a New York type guy? I tend to think not, especially now that Mara has passed (any old school guy would like to play for Mara with his history and respect level within the league).

Charlie Weis - At this pace, it won't cost anyone 23 Million to get Weis out of his contract. Could ND and Weis decide to part ways? Great x and o's coach, maybe good with the (current) players... but is he really a college coach? Doesnt look to be at this point.

Bill Parcells - Won't happen, but his name will pop up. I just don't see it. No way. I think his time in the league has passed in any case, as a head coach.

What other names are on the short list? We can keep this thread going throughout the year as things change. But if we aren't looking forward to next year what else will there for us Giants fans to do, this year?

Meh, Im bored. Plus, the news of Fisher re-signing got me thinking. So we can keep this as a running tab throughout the year. Heck, we speculate on far less important #### than this, right?

Jack Del Rio. NYG like FORMER Jaguar head coaches. :blackdot:

Tiki Barber. Apparently he has all the answers

Charlie Weis. After Weis goes 0-12 at ND this year do you really think the Giants will want him?

I can't see the Giants going after anyone in college so my best guess is Russ Grimm.

This could be a fun game!!!!

How about: Les Miles? The media would eat up that accent and maybe he could bring his left tackle with him.

Mike Martz? Will be the hottest candidate league-wide, but its hard to see him in big conservative blue....

Here's my choice:

Russ Grimm.

Hmmm, Grimm is definately a potential candidate. A realistic one at that. What do we know about him?

Martz I don't see. Not in the Meadowlands.

He's not even close to done destroying Jax. I don't care who it is as long as it's not trash like the Herminator. Manning needs an offensive HC so FavreCo can reign supreme.

There were rumors of Belichick coming, especially since he might be in the last year of his contract.
Belichick isn't going anywhere...http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3023193

I know Giants fans hope and pray that Bill Cowher is the guy, but he's been resolute in his desire to take the next two years off to watch his daughters play hoops; and I'm just not seeing a fit in New York.

My short list includes:

Russ Grimm
Ron Rivera
Mike Sherman
John Fox

I don't want Cowher in the division unless he's coaching Dallas!@

unless Jason Garret gets hit by a bus, Cowher ain't coaching the cowboys anytime soon

That's fine, then as I mentioned I just don't want him in the division.

Cowher is probably going to want total control, which isn't the way the Giants operate so unfortunately it's doubtful he gets hired. Grimm may be a candidate. I think Mike Singletary is another possibility. Jason Garrett could also be a candidate.

How about Rex Ryan?

As a Ravens fan, I never understood how it took Marvin Lews three years after Baltimore's Super Bowl win to get a head coach job. Ryan is from the same cloth -- and after the unhappiness with Coughlin, Ryan would come in as a player's coach.

What a difference a few months make. I'll never, ever panic again when the Raiders start 0-2.0-6, yes. But not 0-2. ;)

True true - and I am not usually the one to hit the panic button. But before this season, I openly told my friends that I hope if the Giants dont have a miracle season (Eli playing really well, defense coming threw, no big injuries and some good luck) I wanted them to REALLY suck - did not want another 8-8, or a 7-9 season of crappy pick and no chance at the playoffs. This crow taste mighty fine now though.
