Sorry, can't post the draft, haven't listened to the whole thing yet.
It was ok. I love the idea of these, and there is always good banter and info. The downside is there are too few drafters in these, so it's always standard fare. I wish they were tweaked a little so they had to dig a tad deeper.

I usually like the year drafts vs the more general/genre drafts they do for this reason. At least one category like movie that made less than 10M or under a 40% on RT- something like that?

They tried something like that but it was kind of a mess:
The 2005 Upside-Down Movie Draft

"We are drafting again! And we have a twist: Rather than draft the best movies of 2005, we’re looking at some of the worst and making a case for them. Sean, Amanda, and Chris Ryan pick their faves and foil their pals in an upside-down draft of the movies from 2005."

Interesting. I must have missed that one. I will listen- maybe I will be retracting my above statement.

Should we watch the last Halloween before watching the new one? I didn't hate or love the last one and will glady sit through the new one.

Ok, I clicked on the trailer for The Sadness. I think will take the plunge tonight on a more empty stomach. Anybody watch this one??
Streaming? Where?
Looks like Shudder, AMC+ on Prime.
I will blindly take the plunge with you. I have not heard of this film and I have no idea what it is about.
Foreign film, and the trailer was ridiculously gory- as in Martyrs level gory.

Oh boy wtf was Halloween Ends. What a weird movie/ending for a trilogy. It had some decent parts but so underwhelming. Maybe a second viewing will change my mind.
A POS.

Hot ****ing garbage.

Extremely disappointed as Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills were outstanding. This???

I will never…ever watch again. It takes a lot to be worse than Halloween Resurrection and Rob Zombies Halloween II.

Halloween Ends lapped those two.

Again avoid at all costs. It was simply a terrible movie in every way.

My son watched Ends today and didn't seem to like it either. Just heard a comment like "well, it's about an hour into the movie and Micheal decided to show up". I think he said it was kinda dumb.

Wow. That is one version of a zombie/virus movie. Definitely jumps to the top of the list of the goriest and disturbing movies I've watched. The Sadness us not for everyone, so be warned. I am still digesting what I just watched.

Kinda hoping you didn't plunge in with me.

Evidently it got under my skin, as I haven't had a bad dream in years and had one last night. After I thought about it more, I think it's less like a Martyrs, where the messed up stuff was more plot driven, they just showed it all realistically and unflinchingly. This one was more just about just pushing buttons and just showing you messed up ****.

Oh I watched it. I am wondering what their budget was for blood, I agree with your assessment. A lot of messed up stuff just for the sake of being messed up. A lot of telegraphing in this movie. I felt I knew exactly what was going to happen and what "weapons" would be used in the diner scene, that may have been intentional. This may sound odd but while watching this movie I got caught up in the way they live in Taiwan. Especially in the beginning with the foods they were eating and then some of the street scenes. I felt like I was being given a peak at a typical morning in a very different locale than I am used to. It took me a bit to figure out what he was eating for breakfast. I think it was some kind of giant dumpling?
The slomo scene on the bike was pretty well done. Also interesting was how bright the colors were in this film. In general there was a lot of light, there was never a question about what you just saw.
* I felt bad laughing at the eye socket rape. :bag:

I would say a gross as some if it was at the beginning I thought the first 20mins or so were very good and I was fully on board. I think about when the subway scene hit I knew what I was up against for the next hour. Grandma on the roof was creepy, slo-mo pass by was excellent, etc.

Then **** hits the fan, probably literally, and as others reading saw- yes, we have eye socket banging. And barbed wire nutcracker. And blood orgy. And baby, well we get the picture.

As disgusting as it was, i agree with what you said - there were a couple scenes of silly gore (geyser of blood from neck wound on the subway) but overall I was impressed with how well done and well lit it was. Nope, I never once thought "wait, did I just see.. " you are fully aware of what you are watching, for good and bad.

BTW, you have any clue as to the method of transfer of the virus? Didn't look like there was a soul not covered head to toe in body fluids.

I have no clue how it was transferred. I am not sure but I thought they were insinuating some were immune. I forgot about the nutcracker. I kind of liked the guy getting his face peeled off after the boiling oil was poured on him.

You know you are in for a ride when this is the first death you see. (I think it was the first?)

Just saw X on Showtime. In some ways, it was what I expected and in other ways it wasn't. Takes place in the 1970's and is kind of a cross between Boogie Nights and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (and a 3rd movie I won't mention because spoilers). The wife surprisingly loved it and I thought it was a fun watch.
I liked it.
Currently watching The Cursed...meh. 1/2 way through and its disjointed with distracting time/place jumps that belie film room cutting but overall the story ain't great anyway so who cares, it's 11:45 at night and I'm drinking beer to the finish!
Curious if you finished and what you thought of it overall. I enjoyed it; not perfect by any means but kept my interest and I liked the tone.
Pretty sure I did but I blanked out so dont remember. Am going to watch the last 1/2hr tonight to jog my memory. I did like the tone but it click for me.

His House: This is the movie Jordan Peele has been trying to make since Get Out. Sad, creepy, emotional and affecting. This movie left a mark and Im glad I watched it during the day so I can get some sun in me. Whew

My condolences. It’s like taking a match and lighting your money on fire.

I think it was just produced by Peele. To my knowledge he's just done the 3.

Overall I was disappointed with Halloween Ends, but there was some good stuff in there. The soundtrack by John Carpenter was very good. There were some nice kills and special effects. I loved the record gag. Many of the kills were top notch. There are some really nice practical effects.
I do not like the way they took the story. The whole Corey thing was a waste of time and I am not sure why anyone would think that was a good idea. It takes wayyy too long to see Michael and thats because we are wasting time with Corey. I don't want to say much more and spoil it, but I wish they just stuck to the tried and true formula that made this franchise a success.

Yeah that was my clumsy wording. Far as I know Peele wasn't involved with this movie but has his style and sensibility built into the story only better done than his recent offerings.

Thanks to @KarmaPolice for the gore warning. I love horror movies and don't mind "normal" gore, but I do not like over the top, torture kind of stuff. Too bad cause I dig zombie movies.

Very interesting. I started this, made it like 1/3rd of the way through, and bailed. I'll give it another shot.

I watched Deadstream last night. It is a new found footage movie. I did watch the whole thing, but I am not sure why. It wasn't very good and I found the lead to be annoying. I cannot recommend this one.

Just finished Speak No Evil. Effin Dutch, amirite?

What a weird movie on many levels. I liked most of it, but the ending was ridiculous. I am a big fan of slow burn suspense films, but this one was good until it wasn’t. 3.5/5
Yep. That is what I mentioned right above.

This looks good:
Terrifier 2

Watched a movie called Woe which was about the grief a son and daughter feel after their father's death and it manifesting into some kind of monster. Bad move: 1/5

Also watched "Hatching" a Finnish horror movie about a young gymnast who feels pressure from her mother that has an obsession on portraying their family as perfect on her blog.
The girl finds an egg that keeps growing and eventually hatches into a bird-monster that becomes violent. Sounds worse than it was -- I thought it was okay: 3/5.

Seeing the first Halloween movie when I was 8 began a lifelong fear of the Shape being just around every corner. It has easily been my favorite horror movie franchise—yes even the bad versions.

Going in to this one, I had some real high expectations. We were promised a final showdown and closure to 45 years of movies. What we get is an absolute piece of dog feces.

As others had pointed out, Michael doesn’t make an appearance for 50 minutes. This whole portion of the movie is wasted on nothing. I almost thought my wife and I clicked on the wrong channel it was so bad.
The way they chose to change Lori and her granddaughter’s characters is just unforgivable. It was like the director said forget about the other two movies, let’s make Lori a pie baking housewife (who just seems to have forgotten Michael is still out there and killed her daughter) and her granddaughter, a girl who wants to immediately jump in bed with the first guy she meets.

The last ten minutes of the movie were good, but it is what the whole movie should have been.

Frankly, I would rather watch the fight scene with Busta Rhymes and Michael on a loop then ever see this movie again.

We saw it Saturday night (my son and I).

We liked the first one better. But if you are a Grindhouse fan this is over the top insane. The kills were some of the best we have ever seen. Fantastic makeup effects and Art The Clown is simply one of the creepiest and most disturbed slashers in horror movie history.

Yep…..I am actually going to watch it again this week (Peacock) just to try and pull out the good stuff from a mostly awful movie.

What blew me away was 2018 and Kills were epic Halloween Sequels. I love them. For it to “End” this way…..what a shame.

Terrifier 1 ? didn't know that. cool, I'll watch that 1st.
thanx

Is there something I am missing in the Corey story, some connection to Michael? I don't understand at all why we are supposed to care about him.

You didn't miss nuttin', they must have used the same writers from the last two seasons of GOT cuz this is the same kind of crap they produced. Totally flushed 40+ years of work down the drain. Best to forget this movie and move on, Halloween Ends never happened.

Masque of the Red Death

Classic Vincent Price in this 1964 movie based on a couple of Poe’s short stories. Admittedly, I’ve only seen parts of it until today. 4/5

Terrifier 1 is on vudu & tubi free (with commercials) I believe.

I was thinking more about Kills and Ends. I think it would have worked better if they reversed the two ideas: Kills would be more about the transfer of evil and the town creating the monster a bit, then Ends would be the survivors and townies getting together to stop Michael and the spread of evil. Would give more time for the Cory character too.

Mid-Century

Ugh. This somehow tries to use the whole MCM thing wrapped within a crappy plot with murders, ghosts, and creepy 50s dudes. 2/5

My son and I watched Jason Goes to Hell tonight. I brought the movie up when we were talking Halloween Ends and sequels in a horror franchise that went off the rails. I told him Friday 5 might need to be watched soon too.
