Liked this one.The Innkeepers - Amazon/Shudder - Two employees/amateur ghost hunters work at a haunted hotel that is about to shut down. I'm a fan of Ti West's movies and this one was setting itself up to be another good one, but it really fell flat towards the end. I'm ok with the occasional ambiguous ending, but this one left too much up to the viewer and left a lot unresolved. Characters introduced in the movie are never really resolved, and when it was over it gave me the feeling of "That's it?" Another one with great potential that ultimately falls flat. I still consider it decent because the characters are very good and it does have some good, spooky moments.
I think I'll be bumping Chocolate Strawberry Vanilla into my list and watching it tonight.

We have satellite internet, so it's capped at Xgb a month. I technically could do it, but one movie eats up so much of the data we get in a month. Completely stupid. You want to own it? The DVD is available to buy from multiple outlets.
Just curious...why cant you do streaming? No internet?
Huh, another one that I really like that I thought you would dig more. I just really love West's throwback/70s sensibility to his horror movies (really liked House of the Devil too). I would probably have it right behind Troll Hunter on your list. The Innkeepers - Amazon/Shudder - Two employees/amateur ghost hunters work at a haunted hotel that is about to shut down. Cool, thanks for the tip!ah got ya.
You may already know this but some prime movies can be downloaded and watched later offline. When I didn't have internet I used to go to the library and download prime movies and then watch them at home. I am not on a compatible device right now so I cant see if that applies to this particular movie.
here is more information if you are interested https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201460820

Ugh, why? If people would stop buying this kind of crap maybe it wouldn't get made anymore.well, I've taken the plunge. Ordered "A Siberian Film". Will critique. I have a feeling I will never be the same.

If anyone watches this based on the incorrect description and reviews they are in for a hell of a shock. I haven't seen this but there is a weird British movie called The Children that seems similar. Worth watching.Home Movie - Amazon Shudder - Found Footage film about a family with two disturbed kids. This movie makes me feel justified in my decision not to have kids. The kids do some messed up things beginning with animals and eventually to their parents. As a cat owner, one particular scene made me cringe. Overall, a pretty effective movie. One hilarious thing about this movie is that it apparently shares the name of some other movie and if you look this movie up on amazon prime you'll see the description is wrong and the reviews got swapped for this other movie because all of the reviews say how beautiful and charming this movie is.If anyone watches this based on the incorrect description and reviews they are in for a hell of a shock.
Haven't read the thread, so this might have already been posted:Apparently revenge movies are a huge deal in Korea and this is one of the better ones.
You are spot on James. Made it to the" unique magic of rigor mortis", which was just after "newborn porn". This was too much to even write about. I wanted to see the sickest, most depraived movie of all time. I've just seen it and only made it through 1/3 of total time. I have a jug of whiskey & not sure if it's enough.Ugh, why? If people would stop buying this kind of crap maybe it wouldn't get made anymore.
edit: And this is just my opinion/ranting and I realize that other people feel differently and may actually be entertained by this garba..."art."
We almost watched that last night but I think I'll save it for the holidays. Finally watched Krampus last night. I must say a highly entertaining dark humored Christmas movie. I would not exactly call it horror...more like holiday horror in the spirit of say Gremlins.
I really enjoyed the set's, costumes and the humor was great. I now have a new annual off beat Christmas movie to watch.
7/10
I thought everything about Green Inferno was great. Certainly the acting was not bad. This is a film that most like a lot 4/5.The Green Inferno - I thought this one would be a little more extreme than it was. Sure, there was plenty of gore but it was a bit cheesy and the acting was so bad that it never really was believable or scary. It wasn't horrible though, just kinda mainstream. 2.5/5
The acting wasn't as bad once they got captured but it was bad up until then. The leader kicking the girl out of the meeting, the fat guy that was in love with her, the guy totally freaking out over the spider in the woods. The creepy female roommate, the jealous girlfriend. It was laughably bad. Cheesy bad acting. 4/5? That's nuts. For me a 4/5 is like an Oscar nominee.I thought everything about Green Inferno was great. Certainly the acting was not bad. I've seen it and thought it was pretty meh. Not bad, but overhyped. Troll HunterScoresman, do you have The Invitation queued up to watch? And while I liked Troll Hunter, I can't believe it's still leading.
The host is really good and I agree with your assessment.I've seen it and thought it was pretty meh. Not bad, but overhyped. Troll Hunteriswas leading because of the randomness of the list I've got going. I wanted it to only be movies I haven't seen which narrows down the field. I'm saving some "classics" for this week though.
The Host - Amazon - A mutant creature kidnaps a Korean girl, and her family will do anything to get her back. I found this movie incredible. The effects, the tone, the acting, everything was spot on including the unpredictable ending. The family in this movie reminded a bit of the Korean version of the Bluths from Arrested Development. They are probably some of the most likable characters you'll find in a horror film. Fantastic movie in every way.
Curse of Mesopotamia - Amazon - Five strangers travel to a ruined castle to try and rid themselves of nightmares. I bit on this one because it was hailed as the first english language genre film to come out of the middle east and it had a cool cover. This was a big mistake. The acting and the script are both terrible. This was obviously a very low budget movie as it looks like a film student's first film. Avoid.
Lockout - Amazon - The story of an American man who gets fired when he fails to adapt to certain changes in the company where he's worked for over ten years. As a result of this, he and his family are forced to move to an old house in rural Wisconsin, where bizarre events will gradually turn their lives into nothing but hell on earth. The concept of this movie and ultimate ending are really, really interesting, I just had lots of issues with the execution, specifically the production value is really bad and really takes away from the movie. It's one of those movies where once you realize what's going on with the ending, you'll want to rewatch it to see what you missed but because of the terrible production value, you wont bother.
The Conjuring 2 - Amazon - Everyone's favorite demonologists return to help a single mother terrorized by an evil spirit. I was a big fan of the first Conjuring and while this sequel fails to live up to the original, it's not bad either. I liked the "old man" ghost that stars in this one, but I have problems with how much the nun demon looks like Marilyn Manson. Sorry, that just bugs me. I still highly recommend this one if you were a fan of the first one.
I'm a movie behind but will be correcting that very soon.

It certainly seems to be a polarizing movie from other discussions I've seen since watching it. I did say in my review that it was thin on plot and it is. However, I thought the portrayal of the character was amazing and done with absolute conviction and that was the basis for my ranking. The brutal ending was nice too.I watched "Chocolate Strawberry Vanilla" and now want the 1 hour and 13 minutes back from Scoresman. :X
I need a full review as to why this is ranked 3rd!

5 movies left. If anyone has any great recommendations they've been holding back, I'd love to add them to the list. My original list has already changed and I dont mind changing it further.
Edit: Added Deathgasm per above.
Frontiers is in my queue and on my original list. I guess I'll keep it there since it comes with a recommendation. Not sure what is left in the running for the last 5, but going with the messed up bloody foreign movies, I think you might dig Frontier(s) as well.
Oh, and have you seen Teeth?![]()
