One I cant figure out for tonight. Every media report I have read has discussed how the Patriots and Eagles have conducted joint practices this whole week and how the Patriots are marching up and down the field with Brady going 7-8 throws in a row without and incomplete.

Tonights game started at Phi -4 (The only game at 4 and not 2-3.5). How is it that Phi is even favored? Think Chip will keep the starters out longer?
I think it has alot to do with the QB situations, NE's recent lack of success in preseason, and coaching. Brady will probably get a handful of attempts, so you're probably looking at 3+ quarters of Mallett and Tebow. Belichek is 3-5 in the preseason over the last couple of years. Philly is 7-1, admittedly with a different coach, but I assure you Chip will want to win more than Belichek. Mallet hasn't done anything special in the preseason and is a big wild card. Tebow is Tebow. In Philly, you kind of have QB 1a, 1b and 2a (all at different levels of mediocre, but they should all be good enough to move the ball here). Remember, some thought that Barkley had a chance to be a starter about a month ago. I do not care for Barkley at all, but in this offense he could be solid. The RB's for Philly are pretty solid. I'm sure Mccoy won't play much, but Brown showed he could move the ball, Felix Jones has been there before, and I think Chris Polk could be a preseason star. I'm not much of a defensive guy, so I can't comment there on either side. Philly has the depth and type of players that could make them undefeated in the preseason again this year, especially with Chip's desire to win here. On the other hand, Belichek has shown that he does't care much in preseason and I don't expect much more than 2-2 from that team, consistent with recent history. This being said, I don't think I've ever bet a preseason game and may never do so, but I can see why the line is what it is.
yeah I guess all of that makes sense.

I really like Brown as well. Too bad he couldn't keep it together in college, he may have been a good one. I was surprised he didn't get a real chance at K-State.

Everyone is talking about B Pierce as being the best handcuff in the NFL I really like him) but I think Brown is in the discussion as well. If Shady did get hurt I suspect Brown would put up numbers as well.
Wow, I thought Brown just fizzled out at Tennessee, didn't even remember he went to K-state.

I'm laughing, because if they had a preseason Super Bowl, I swear I think Philly would win. Regular season, not so much.

I'm home sick from work, bored, baseball has been treating me well, thanks for starting this discussion you sonofagun.

Now you are going a little too far Mr. GR :sadbanana: .

As for thoughts on the game, I think i like the over the most. All 3 Eagles QBs will be gunning to look impressive (not like other teams QBs don't), and i do like the Eagles RB depth. Problem here though is the Eagles WRs are decimated. I was looking forward to seeing what A. Benn could do. They have talked up Shepard and Damaris Johnson, but i'm not sure how reliable they will be.

And it was already mentioned how the Eagles secondary has been getting slaughtered by Tom Brady, but they are also banged up and on the back-ups at this point. I think all the NE QBs will be able to complete passes, if NE has anybody who can catch them. I know Andy Reid was never one to fight that hard for pre-season games, and i have no idea what to expect here from Kelly. Biggest question for me is wondering how much he will be willing to open the playbook and show some stuff.

So i'll grab the over 40, and maybe i'll tag along with taking the Birds, but i'm not as confident. i do like Bryce Brown though and i hope he looks good tonight

ETA: and i don't remember Reid ever getting over-zealous for preseason, but i'll see if Andy wants to keep it going with KC+3 tonight too

I like the Yankees tonight. Nova is solid. The last three games NY has faced left handed pitching on the road which they struggle against. Detroit is coming off a big series sweep and Porcello can struggle.

Is Philly going to run this fast all year?

Bender...2 rounds away from that Otis-Tiger no major championship!
weird that Barkley has come in with 5 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter. I am not sure if there is another QB in camp for the Eagles because i thought they already cut Trent Edwards. I haven't kept up a ton, but i like the idea of Barkley playing more than a half better then Mallet being in there. Amazing that it is 14-7 less then 7 minutes into the game, and all of a sudden Mallet comes in and leaves me thinking the over may be in question and an awfully rough beat

ETA: wish i played GR numbers on this over, and didn't play it lightly after playing way too much yesterday

No faith in the bottom of the bench WR depth and secondary depth for the Eagles, going to try NE +3 in the 2nd half

Is Tim Tebow going to come in and win this bet for us?
Your hopes rest on G.J. Kinne. The good news is that he's used to a fast-break offense at Tulsa.
We need one el cheepo TD from the egirls. That Blunt TD was an embarrassment.
Philly once again looks like your "get well" defense in fantasy. Start everyone you have against them.
Mrs Ref came in from a walk at 7:45 and asked "7-0 - how did Brady do?". I told her 'well he is six for six in handoffs."

I like TB LA u23.5 HRE tonight. Price has been on fire since the break and both Crawford+Either are out. TB hits left handers well, but Capuano has been solid at home his last few starts. LA isn't a friendly park to hit in.

Not Kuroda-Kershaw, but worth a few pennies.

Guess the boys in the studio didn't see the long snapper get carted off..... nice job guys.
I honestly don't think that had anything to do with it. The FNG was snapping for punts just fine. An XP snap is no big deal by comparison.

It was just Chip being Chip.

Well I 'll say this. Tim Tebow wants us to backdoor this. He just passed up a sure fire first down to throw into double coverage.

You know what... maybe you are right. But if you and me were in the studio we would have at least known that it was a possibility. These two have no idea.

So i put some money on the fanduel site, and i am in this contest for next week to pick the best fantasy baseball players for next week. Any of you guys who know baseball have any idea which players will have a good week next week? I have no idea who to take, so any thoughts would be gravy

Yeah. I let Oats off the hook and shamed this entire thread.

I just bought an expensive house, my first house. I leave for Vegas in 2 days for a total of 9 days there. I have 2 more ballparks scheduled this year to hit 8 for the 2013 season and the Tiger Woods thread is filled with the biggest jag offs this board has to offer on both sides. Its nearly unreadable. Otis offered and I was happy to get out from a 5 hundy hanging over my head. Bad idea, obviously and I could have hedged and guaranteed profit, but I didn't feel like even worrying about collecting (or paying). I'm Well off, but living like im a multi millionaire here. Been trying to cut down on my liabilities left and right now that I have a mortgage and live alone with no help to fall back on should something happen. Buying a house really scared me, as weird as that sounds.

That's the story. Feel free to kick me in the nuts.

Nah bud, no need to kick you in the balls here. Only thing I would chime in about to give you a smacking is if you feel like things aren't going your way because bud, you are living a beaut of a life the way it sounds. 9 days in Vegas, traveling the country going to different ballparks, single with a gorgeous home, man you got yourself in a sweet spot. And don't let that mortgage scare you, if you got a good price on the house you will make money on it even if you the bills start getting big soon. That area is a nice place to buy and the property values are likely to go up if anywhere.

Gotta think you are lined up for the Daily News 50 best singles contest they run every so often. Nice job bud!

When is the deadline?

I'm not sure, it says 38 hours, so i guess probably Sunday morning. And it is only for Sundays games, not the whole week like i first thought. Any thoughts would be cool, always love winning something with free play money

All good....I was just REALLY hoping that you'd win so you could put some lame-o account of your triumph in your sig. I've been playing a decent amount of poker with Oats lately and would have gotten a teeny bit of enjoyment outta this weekened if the bet was still on.

Enjoy the desert. I think it's about time I make that trip.

I forgot Dennis Dixon is on the roster. Kinne is the 5th QB, which means he'll be working construction in a month.
I forgot Dixon was still on the roster too, guy looked pretty good. Hope he finds a place to land when the Eagles have to cut him. And I don't know much about your boy's roster RN, but that WR Bryce Butler looks pretty good.

He does. Always have to calm down a bit with this stuff though. These guys are playing against guys who will be out of the league in a couple of weeks. The bigger story, as I wrote in the Raiders thread, is that everyone was talking about Tyler Wilson as the steal of the draft. Now it looks like he won't even make the team. McGloin from Penn State just led them right down the field with ease, and he is the clear #3 now.

Djokavic over Nadal. -250 in any match, even against Nadal, is a gift for this cyborg from the tennis future. 2u

My favorite play of the day:

Pospisil +210 over Raonic. Raonic has struggled to even get to the semis. Gulbis took him to the brink yesterday and if not for the crowd Raonic wouldve lost. On the other hand, Pospisil is on fire. He creamed his last opponent so badly that the guy quit/retired after 3 games. The most important reason I'm taking Pospisil is his 3-1 record against Raonic. This includes two hard court wins. Pospisil will be fresh and inspired. Im calling a straight sets win for Pospisil. 2u
