FFA Wagering Thread: THERE HE IS!@! (5 Viewers)

Is there any way USC loses this game tonight? I need to bet $400 more to clear a bonus at SI, and I'm contemplating putting it all on them -1200

Got reprimanded pretty good tonight from a guy named "Tony" at 5dimes. I bet Jordan Wynn just before half that he would throw a td before an int. Log back on and my account was disabled. He got on me pretty good and said it wouldn't happen again and claimed I was past-posting my bet. I should have mentioned to him his book is a piece of #### for only offering $100 max limits on props.

Tony: "i'm sorry I took a shot at something that I already knew the result to, i was wrong and it will never happen again"

Tony: try saying anything like that, and you're back on

Tony: otherwise, you're not

You have HUGE balls, my friend... I'll give you that. I don't know a bigger degenerate than myself, and even I am not spending a dime on this week's land mine NFL card. Throw a dart as to which players will be on the field and for how long.
I actually added more....8 team RR with ATL is 56 bets....then i pulled ATL and added in GB and WAS which made it 49 more bets....105 bets total
alright guaranteed 110 units....if was +11.5 covers its +189u so i made a hedge at half of 20u on az pki think i'm retiring after tonight <_<

Congrats Lump, very nicely done. I am on Was +10.5 myself, so i'm hoping we can both end with a successful night. Are you keep this up during the regular season? I really have to jump on board next time, good job

And there it is....105-0....and i hit the middle on the 2h of the was/az game for an extra 20u20.9k on preseason NFL tonight. Now i begin the battle of trying to get paid.

wha? These gambling threads have passed me by.

Amazing, lump... I'm in awe. Just so you know, you're going 0-105 the first week of the regular season when I start tailing!
There aren't nearly as many plays during the regular season.Looking over the games yesterday, every single dog would have covered when teased with 6 pts except for Carolina. Not only would they all have covered most of them were close games so almost all of them could have been middled.I wouldn't be surprised if books stop allowing teasers during the preseason. They got murdered the last 3 weeks.

Never ever ever past-post bet at 5dimes. Sounds like Tony was easier on you compared to other stories I have heard. He doesn't like people stealing his money.

I got to thinking the other day (yeah scary in itself).

I am having trouble phrasing this, but I'll try. Do you think it's an advantage to be like Phil Ivey and have little value of money while gambling? Or treat money and gambling as if it were in front of you?

I guess where I am trying to go is that when I am gambling (online especially), I give almost no thought to how much I am betting and if I lose how much I actually lose. I bet well within my bankroll, less then 1% of my plays, so I'm not overbetting, but at times I just toss out money on bets with little thought. I know the bet is probably +ev but I am tossing out money like it's nothing. Last night when testing the Sportsbook limits I accidentaly made a $500 bet and it lost - in the past I would have been really upset - heck nobody likes losing $500 but it didn't really phase me. I just vowed it wouldn't happen again and I would work harder tomorrow and this week to make up for it.

At the end of last year, I was betting so much (once again within my BR and by no means am I trying to brag) and even after the game I would quickly browse and see how I probably did and then just move on. At the end of the week I would tabulate how I did and would be done with it. I think if I thought about how much I lost and compared that dollar amount to what I could get with that money in front of me it would be a different story. If I lost 2-3k one day it would be no big deal, I'd simply move onto the next day or next bet. and vice versa though which is good.

Only after the season was over did I sit back and really evaluate myself and the amount of money I gambled and bet sort of hit me.

I know exactly what you mean. When you don't actually see cash money in front of you, it's hard to respect its value.I walked into a sandwich shop today and ordered a large meatball & provolone. It came to $9.41. My first thought was "WOW... that's expensive." Yet I think nothing of putting five bills on a team total in the 2nd half of some stupid game. You don't SEE actual money over the computer. You only see a dollar amount. That's one of the reasons casinos use chips. If you put a hundred dollar bill in the circle at a blackjack table, you'd probably stress more than putting a black chip in the circle. You're risking the same amount of money, but our brain processes it differently.

Now take this feeling over to the stock market, where profits and losses of 2-3K in a day are rounding errors...it really puts things in perspective. I was previously the head trader for a short biased hedge fund that was pegged to an enormous bet against the subprime lenders and housing as a whole. In 2007, we would have days where we were up $24 Million and days where we were down just as much. This was a $300 Million portfolio (yearly average weight for 2007), so anything under a million dollars either way on performance was considered 'flat'. I would get home from work some nights and think about what me made or loss on the day and it would blow my mind. In 2007, that fund was up 75% on the year, making over $150 Million Dollars. A fantastic year and it made a lot of us a whole lot of money. But put in perspective.....Jerry Jones bought the Dallas Cowboys for something like $140 Million in 1989. Made coming home and losing a hundred bucks here and there on football much easier to stomach.

Yeah, I decided to log into all me and my wife's investment accounts this week and realized we made $3k on Thursday alone ;) Would drive me absolutely nuts if I were in the business you were in. I'm sure the rush is increadible.......but if I checked that account everyday, I'd probably rethink a lot of things. (even though I know this is all $ for the long run and shouldn't be worrying about short term gains/losses)

Why is TCU laying almost 2 tds to a pac 10 opponent that has the Rodgers brothers? Seems like a bit much, but I am pretty much clueless on college football.

I laid 31 on Texas over Rice today

Have a feeling this one could be ugly. Rice no longer has the mediocre power offense with Casey, Dillard, Clement. Rice's defense is going to have a very difficult time holding the Horns. Game is in Houston, I expect a ton of Longhorn fans and family for this one.....66-3 game

broburyETA: 30k in 3 weeks....kind of glad they cut my limits, withdrawing it all in one bankwire and finishing my basement and putting up a wall of TV's.

Ha pretty funny, $10 for everything. Why not just cut you off and say we don't want your business anymore.
