FFA Wagering Thread: THERE HE IS!@! (4 Viewers)

correct me if i'm wrong...if the giants don't blow that win in philly GB prob doesn't make the playoffs, am i remembering correctly?
GB/NE Superbowl? Yes.
Think back to week 15 and how tough GB played NE in NE with Matt Flynn as the QB. NE/GB would be my ideal SB matchup, I hate NE but I think they're the best team in the AFC and I think GB is the best team in the NFC.

As long as New England doesn't win it all -AND- that quitting bum Randy Moss doesn't get a mercy Super Bowl ring, I can sleep at night.

I hate talking in absolutes but no way in hell Pack aren't favs in Chicago next week. Tonight's game against the top seed was pk em and it wasn't close. I make it GB -3 at the very least.

And this is coming from someone who laid the number with Chicago tomorrow.

Apples and oranges with Chicago and Atlanta. Green Bay hangs its hat on offense. Chicago is built on knocking your dick in the dirt with a fearsome defense. Also, it's a hated, familiar rival and likely freezing weather. You can draw almost no parallels between the two opponents.

This looks like the most likely scenario. However, 25 yrs ago the Bears lambasted the Pats in SB20, that would be cool on the anniversary(prettysuretheresultswouldbeoppositethistime). My dream Superbowl has always been the Bears/Steelers matchup. 2 storied franchises fit of the same mold, blue collar, run oriented, dominating defenses, physically try to smash you style of football. Not likely this yr, but still a possibility. A guy can dream can't he?

Green Bay has a better defense then Chicago does, imo. GB's defense very very good. Ask Brady and Belichick who have been blowing the doors off of teams.

So you're saying GB would be a 6 pt fave on a neutral field versus a Bears team that would be a 2 seed and at home in the NFL Championship Game?

DOn't see it

Anyone know what the largest road fave in a Championship has been?

Not wanting to get too far ahead of myself, IF the Bears win, whats the spread?? Pick?? Pack -1 or- 2?
I have ignored the rest of these posts after this so I could be wayyyyy off base but WHEN (hopefully) the bears win....GB-3. any less will get worked. This is the year of rodgers v brady.

people talk about the pats like they're not blue collar.... this is not a team of hired guns so much as it is a team of guys who have 100000000% bought into a system and are executing it to perfection. you can have 11 guys wjho are very angry... or you can have 11 who are very prepared.WIN

We have recommended a book by Michael Konik in these threads called "The Smart Money" for a few years. The money man of the infamous computer group, Billy Walters, will be featured on 60 Minutes tonight. Don't miss it.

Pro gambler Bill Walters bets tens of millions of dollars on sports each year, calling his losses "feathers" and his wins "chicken." So far, there's been chicken at the end of every year he has made a living on gambling in Las Vegas, a winning streak that's made odds makers call him the "most dangerous sports bettor."Lara Logan gets a rare interview with Walters, who lets her in on his technique, for a "60 Minutes" story to be broadcast this Sunday. On the week Logan visited Walters in Las Vegas, he won close to a million dollars betting on pro football with the sports books run by the casinos. But he also bet on college basketball, not faring as well."Yesterday was a feathers day as we refer to in our household. It was feathers yesterday. There was no chicken," he tells Logan. "I had a pretty bad day...I lost $257,200. I could lose again today...I've had losing weeks...losing months...[but] never a losing year."That success, plus big bets - he once bet $3.5 million on a Super Bowl and won - has brought with it a respect and fear in Las Vegas. "He's a shark and a whale. He's a great white," says one of the city's most respected odds makers, Kenny White. "It means he's the most dangerous sports bettor in the history of Nevada...That's the damage he can do to a sports book," says White. The gambling life, which he began in earnest when he arrived in Las Vegas broke and in debt in 1980, has made him extremely rich. He owns seven homes and a $20 million private jet. He has a group of anonymous partners who place his wagers for him and consultants who advise him how to bet. He calls one of them a "savant," for his uncanny recall of sports statistics. Walters' influence is so powerful that he can change the point spread on certain games so he can bet on the team he really wants with the point spread he thinks will make him a winner. It all began in the hills of Kentucky where he grew up poor and made his first bet, a penny, on a pool game he played at the age of six. He doesn't only bet on sporting events, he'll bet on the golf course, too. He tells Logan he has won $400,000 on one hole alone and once took home "around a million dollars" from a golf match.Asked if there is anything he wouldn't bet on, Walters replies, "Not really."

I said this is the game thread last night, the point you make about the Sunday night game is 100% valid. I think that GB would have beat the Patriots that night if Rodgers played. Now that being said it was the first time that GB and the Pats played this year (obviously). If you say nothing else about BB, he always has his team better prepared the second time around. Ask the Jets, Bills, Fins, Colts, and Pitt fans over the last 10 years.

When I watched them play earlier in the yr, I thought they would have a tough time winning the division let alone be the number 1 seed. Their defense was putrid, they still had the moss cancer, no running game. Give the guy most people hate credit. BB did a fantastic job this yr and earned his paycheck. F'n cheater. :goodposting:

guys - refresh my memory here.. what happens if you hit one end of a teaser and push the other?
Becomes a straight bet at most books. Unless you took better odds and "ties lose"
Actually on a teaser it becomes a push doesn't it? on a parlay it would be a straight bet2 team teaser win/push is a push, 3 team teaser or above it pushes down to the next level, 3 teamer becomes 2 teamer

Yeah, sorry, push. I read the whole line thinking "parlay", completely wiffed on that.

I should note, there are some books (5 Dimes for example) where you can pay an extra 5 cents and ties win. Granted the teaser #s are awful and not playable.

Don't know if these specific matches are. I'd imagine Venus Williams, Querrey and Wozniacki will get a lot of air time. The entire tournament is on ESPN 2 starting at 7 tonight tho.

:goodposting: 500 to win 663 on bookmaker, 500 is the max bet on bookmaker, any time they have a smaller limit on something like this there's def something to be exploited.Time to play closer attention to tennis, thanks for posting

You got it Lump - Hopefully this one hits. Early in the season sometimes can be weird, but I've done the research, watch tons of tennis and I'm confident in the picks. Should have another one later.

Seton Hall +13.5 (Hazell doesnt seem to factored into this line)
I guess the books we're right as Hazell barely showed up. Pitt shut him down. Speaking of Pitt, they are not only winning...they are scoring points. I guess we'll see what they're made of tomorrow night versus Syracuse.early today:

Providence +2: 24-16 early

Notre Dame +3 looking very shaky in the early going

Seattle Seahawks +10 Between the possibility of a Leon Washington return and a Jay Cutler pick 6 there are just too many ways for Seattle to score a special/defensive TD; which often leads to covers in double-digit dog situations

Agree with lump. Been a long time since someone showed up in this thread, posted findable winning plays, and hit them with such success. And if anyone gives you guff for boasting about your winners, give them the middle finger - 14-5 is impressive, as is 25 units at the halfway point of the season.

Thanks for the tennis play, JB. For S&Gs, I added in the Bears and Pats ML...$50 to win $96. I don't even care if it wins, LOL.
