FFA Wagering Thread: THERE HE IS!@! (9 Viewers)

Patriots are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 postseason gamesI think Baltimore has a chance to win outright. Got killed fading my hometown Ravens last week, so tread carefully. But recent history between these two teams always has the game coming down to a FG (except in the Wild Card game at NE in 2009 when Baltimore won 33-14)
+14/+10 still looks like a solid tease to me this week.
With you on. this too. I think it's the best way to go.Also taking Bal + the points, and overs both games.

I started out betting the favorites early in the week but have shifted gears and am now playing the dogs (straight for a little and teased for a lot). Also liking the unders more than the overs at the moment.

A little dissappointed in the 1-1-1 first round golf matchups. Teater got smoked by the Gay. Kirk over Petterson was winning most of the match. Petterson tied it up midway through back nine at 4 under but then proceeded to double the next hole. 2 up with 4 to play was looking good. Petterson birdied the 18th for the tie. Lines were a little juicy for the 2nd round matchups. Played one but it was -165 so i didn't post it. Henley over Toms (who shot a 3 over par 75 which must have felt like an 80-82 with the way they were scoring). Could have played Henley -.5 for -140, but didn't. Henley is a baller and madman putter and should go low each and every round. Will see what kind of matchups we get for the 3rd and 4th round.

I would love to see Christopher Wentz win it. Dude is a beast, love his acting style. My head says it goes to Tommy Lee Jones though, I have a feeling Lincoln cleans house.
I'd throw a bit on the darkhorse Waltz +600, if I had to choose.
I don't think TLJ deserves it, but I expect him to win. Waltz is down to +200 and if you want to take a long shot then DeNiro at +600 is a good bet.

Is Sally Field worth a shot at 10:1 over Hathaway for supporting actress? The odds on Hathaway seem ridiculous. Same as DD Lewis to win his category.

I don't know what the most unusual thing I've come across on the job is, but here are some things that I've experienced.I've been bit by a dog twice. The first time was on my leg by a Boston Terrier. I had run into this dog a few times and he always barked and ran around like a lunatic, but never bit. I never attempted to pet him, so maybe that's what he wanted, and when he finally had enough of my resistance, he bit me. The second time was bad. I was walking at the beginning of the loop (a loop is what we call a section of the route, usually 20-30 houses that you load up at the truck) and I saw this Chow on the porch of one of the last houses on the loop, on the other side of the street. There was a girl, maybe 10 years old sitting next to it, petting its head. I kept walking, taking a glance every few steps to make sure he wasn't gonna try anything funny. I cross the street and walk back towards the house, delivering as I go, still trying to see if I can locate the dog. I get within a few houses and can clearly see the porch, now vacant. I'm thinking that the girl brought the dog in the house, and I was good to go. Wrong. This house had tall bushes blocking the view of the walkway where I go up to the mailbox. As soon as I turned the corner of those bushes, he was all over me. He got me pretty good on my hand. I backed a way slowly and he just stared at me. As soon as I tried to pick up my pace to get away, he came at me again. I pepper sprayed him and he was pretty much unfazed by it, and came at me again. I whacked him with my satchel, and ran across the street to the nearest house and tried to get in the front door. Locked. Thankfully, the house had a screen door which was unlocked, and I ended up using the screen door as a shield. I was wedged between the screen door and front door, which was basically about 8 inches of space, but I was able to pull the handle towards me enough to shield myself from this beast until the owner came out to get it. I ended up at the hospital, getting 8 stitches and a tetanus shot for my trouble.I type pretty slow, and that story took way longer than I expected it to. I gotta run, but I have a pretty crazy story of something that happened to a co-worker that is definitely the craziest thing that's happened since I started this job. I also have some other things that have happened to me, but not all that crazy. I'll try to update later.
lol awesome story!

Me and a buddy were talking about this last night and it was said on the radio today.. Atlanta is the biggest home dog ever in the Championship game. Haven't looked I up but we were thinking that then the radio confirmed it. I'm not a fan of Atlanta even a little bit, but they're real tough at home.

hathaway is a lock for this award. Jennifer Lawrence at -200 would be a better bet. i think she will pull it out.
I'm already on the longshot Emmanuelle Riva at 20:1 in that category. Low risk with a potential big payout. No value in Lawrence, IMO since Chastain could still win as well.

Looking for some betting strategy advice. The backstory on why I'm doing this for this week involves rich dudes I want to keep inviting me to things and a father in law, so I really don't care if the bet is terrible odds in general.Anyway, I have to pick both games this weekend as a 2 team teaser for even money. No totals, just pick a side in each game, teased 6 pts. Normal teaser rules, win both or lose. When you guys are doing teasers, how much do you factor in the side that you actually like in the game and how much do you factor in where the 6 pts lands? I really love SF and took them last week, but I'd be crossing 0 and landing at +2 on them. Is it more insane to tease a -4 team to +2, or more insane to bet on a team you don't believe in at all (ATL)? Thoughts?

I would rather fade a team I like than cross the zero, on a 6 point teaser.

I'd rather go from +4 to +10 on a home team I don't like then go from -4 to +2 on a road team I do like.Just don't get much value on the latter move so it's better to take them straight than teased. Have to think the Falcons can keep it within 10 at home here.

JB, thoughts on this:Roberta Vinci. 16th ranked woman in the world against an unseeded Elena Vesnina, currently see Vinci listed at +115 at 5dimes. She's ranked #1 in the world in doubles right now. Vesnina did just beat the 21st seed, but I think Vinci who hasn't lost a set in either single or doubles competition can take it tonight. Any insight would be appreciated.

ATL's last 10 losses at home:2012 Week 17 vs TB (17-22)2011 Week 11 vs NO (23-26 in OT)2011 Week 5 vs GB (14-25)2010 Divisional Playoffs vs GB (21-48)2010 Week 16 vs NO (14-17)2009 Week 14 vs NO (23-26)2009 Week 13 vs PHI (7-34)2008 Week 11 vs DEN (20-24)2007 Week 14 vs NO (14-34)2007 Week 12 vs IND (13-31)Two things I see here...ATL doesn't lost at home very often. 8 times in the last 5 years, including the playoffs. Their win percentage at home is >80% over that span (7-1, 6-2, 7-2, 6-2, 8-1). The NFL average home winning percentage over this time is just a bit over 58% If you see them losing, it's basically a coin flip as to whether its a close loss or a blowout. Here are the game results from the 5 most recent playoff seasons:2012 Divisional Playoffs vs SEA (30-28)2011 Wild Card @ NYG (2-24)2010 Divisional Playoffs vs GB (21-48)2008 Wild Card @ ARI (24-30)2004 Conference Championship @ PHI (10-27)2004 Divisional Playoffs vs StL (47-17)4/6 games were decided by more than 10 points, with 3 of those being losses. That said, 2 of the last 3 home playoff games were wins. Might put a 0.5u bet on the ATL money line and will probably tease ATL up

I wish I capped women's tennis. Truth is, I don't watch enough of it. I usually turn it off, I can't stand it for the most part unless the chicks are hot. However, Vesnina did just win the warm up tournament for the Aussie open which took place last week and I think that's why you're seeing that line my friend.

Going to Vegas tonight :moneybag: Is there an angle on the NHL with such a short camp and condensed schedule? Will this create more overs or unders than usual?Any Cup futures you like that have value?

Tennis tonight.Just 1 play yet again...Philipp Kohlschreiber +120 over Milos RaonicJust a unit. Milos has come on strong and is young and I've only seen him play half a dozen times maybe. He's not ready for Kohlscreiber yet IMO

I'm going to try and play lots of underdogs, and hopefully be on teams that had players/goalies who stayed active during the lockout.I think I have small futures bets on these teams:Rangers (9:1)Kings (10:1)Sabres (20:1) :homer:Wild (25:1)Lightning (25:1)Oilers (40:1)might play some more longshots, figuring it's easier for a weaker team to sneak into the playoffs during the short season.I think I saw teams like Ottawa and Florida really low. Haven't looked in a few days though.

I might have put some on Detroit too.I was just out there a couple weeks ago when the lockout got resolved and I felt like the futures odds I could get at Sportsbook and 5dimes were better than any book in Vegas. There can be quite a bit of fluctuation on the middle and lower-tier teams though.Going out for FSTA? Glll

ALREADY A WELL-OILED MACHINEFormer THN editor-in-chief and TSN insider Bob McKenzie posed the following question Thursday night on the network’s season preview show: With Ryan-Nugent Hopkins, Jordan Eberle, Nail Yakupov, Sam Gagner, Taylor Hall and Ales Hemsky all having played in the American League or Europe, are the Edmonton Oilers the only team in the NHL whose top six forwards all played during the lockout? And we can say that after studying all 30 rosters, the answer to that question is yes. The Columbus Blue Jackets had five of their top six – Vaclav Prospal, Derrick Brassard, Cam Atkinson, Artem Anisimov and Brandon Dubinsky – active for all or parts of the lockout, but no other team had so many of its key forwards keeping their games sharp. At the other end of the spectrum, several teams had only one of their top six playing: Anaheim (Andrew Cogliano), Pittsburgh (Evgeni Malkin), St. Louis (rookie Vladimir Tarasenko) and Tampa Bay (Brett Connolly). A couple of teams whose top forwards should be able to hit the ground running are Detroit (Valtteri Filppula, Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk and Damien Brunner) and Washington (Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Brooks Laich and Marcus Johansson). Now the question is, will it make a difference? It certainly elevated the careers of a number of young players such as Eric Staal and Jason Spezza in the last lockout, but it will be interesting to see what kind of effect it has on teams early.
http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/49440-Players-already-winning-in-new-CBA.htmlI think I'll be on Columbus tomorrow @ Nashville and Edmonton on Sunday @ Vancouver.

Yes, except I'm leaving Monday at 2:30 LOL. Set up a meeting Sunday AM for some biz stuff. As a Ducks fan, I could never bet on the Wings or Queens. ;)

How do your Sabres look?

Ok. This is what happened to a buddy of mine, we'll call him Jack, at work about 10 years ago. He's the senior guy in our office, and has been carrying mail since the 70's. He's been on his route forever. Anyway, he was walking his route one day, and got approached by this guy. The guy lives on Jack's route, but he had never met him before. So, the guy starts asking Jack all of these odd questions. First, he asks if Jack is into porn. Jack just sort of humored the guy, trying to be nice. He then asked if he was into wearing women's clothes and asked if he wanted to get together and watch porn some time. Jack was pretty weirded out at this point, and basically told the guy to get lost. About 2 or 3 days later, Jack's walking his route again, on the same street as the incident with weird guy. Weird guy comes flying down the street and hits Jack with his car. Weird guy then proceeds to get out of the car, and stabs Jack twice in the back with a kitchen knife, and flees on foot. Luckily, a neighbor heard the commotion and came out and called 911. Jack is rushed to the hospital and gets treated for his injuries. He was actually back at work no more than a week later delivering mail (just in case you're wondering, he's a tough SOB). Doctors said he was really lucky that it was a cold winter day, and the multiple layers of clothing may have saved his life. Weird guy was apprehended later that day, and got sentenced to a mental institution. Turns out, he was on medication for mental illness and stopped taking his medication weeks earlier. I also got stung by a bee once.

Did you finish your route?
