Opening lines for week 1 NFL,anything stand out?

Balt. @ Den. -9.5

Cinn. @ Chi.-3.5

Mia. @ Cleve. even

N.E. @ Buff.+7

Sea. @ Car.+3.5

Tenn. @ Pitt.-6.5

G.B. @ S.F.-5.5

Minn. @ Det.-3

Oak. @ Indy.-7

T.B. @ NYJ.+2.5

AZ. @ Stl.-6

NYG. @ Dall.-2.5

I like New Orleans at home against Atlanta laying 3. Payton's back,Saints have a chip on their shoulder,I think they play lights out in a week 1 home opener.

I like Kansas City laying 2.5 at Jacksonville,KC will be much improved,The Jags will not, possibly the worst team in the league.

I like The Ravens getting 9.5 at Denver. Revenge game for The Broncos but Super Bowl champs won't go down easy.

I like The Giants getting 2.5 at Dallas. G-Men play very well on the road,'Boys will be overrated once again.

Especially considering Blackmon is suspended. This was the one that stood out quite a bit to me.

Yeah, wishing I had hedged on the Spurs now. <_< It's not even far-fetched to suggest that this series might not get back to Miami.
I won't comment on the series, but it is very unlikely Miami loses the next two. They are a very talented team who often plays with no urgency. They responded with a huge win in game 7 vs Indiana and a huge win in game 2 vs. the Spurs. I think they come out with fire in game 4.
Miami right on cue. I don't know who will win game 5. Both teams know they can't win two back in Miami. No way there is an edge for game 5.

Rocks TT! Without the hook! Too good to be true! Looked real good when Fowler jacked the double off Detwiler's first pitch. Momentum went from crunk to DOA two pitches later when Cargo got hit by a foul ball, on deck, as an innocent bystander. Out for the game before ever stepping to the plate.

Tulo, Cargo, and Fowler all left the game with injuries today.

Bookmaker @JayKornegay tells me #Heat line move driven by almost all PUBLIC money - Pros "really haven't touched it"
It's always driven by PUBLIC money....there's no such thing as private money. There is no line that isn't pushed into place by sharp money, sharp money demolishes "public" money on everything but the super bowl.
I think that's kind of the point Jay was trying to make here. It wasn't sharp/consortium/quant money that moved the line across zero. It was umpteen millions of avg joes with $100 on the heat that did it.

Aaron Baddely over Rory Sabatini looks like a good spot. Hot head shot 8 over and Aaron was 5 yesterday. If he has a bad hole early, he goes downhill quick.

Edit: Lingmerth over Hothead. He won the matchup yesterday and i'll fade rory again here.

And my point is that he's wrong. Lots of $100 bets don't move lines.

He is citing the Las Vegas Hilton Sportsbook director. Is he wrong too?

I don't know lump, i put 10 bucks on Chappell to win the open at 175/1 and the next day he was 80/1. I MAKE LINES MOVE WITH 10 BUCK BETS....LOL. Just kidding about all that and having lived in vegas, its the pros that lay 30K on the game that move lines more than the other way around. Just my 2 cents having talked to a few of the managers of sportsbooks there.

MLB defensive efficiency (converting batted balls into outs). Link will update itself as the season goes on & explains the difference in Locke's ERA-FIP (-1.59). link

Vegas casinos don't make lines anymore. Offshore books set the lines and take the biggest bets.

Pirates/Dodgers u8 looks decent, especially if the suspensions get handed out before the game.
  • D-backs pitcher Ian Kennedy 10-game suspension
  • D-backs infielder Eric Hinske 5-game suspension
  • Pitcher J.P. Howell and infielder/outfielder Skip Schumaker of the Dodgers 2-game suspension
  • Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire 2-game suspension
  • Dodgers pitcher Ronald Belisario 1-game suspension
  • Dodgers manager Don Mattingly 1-game suspension
  • D-backs manager Kirk Gibson 1-game suspension
Anyone suspended can appeal their suspension and play until that appeal is heard.

Many sportsbooks do not have their own in-house bookmaker, and therefore, do not produce their own line, as that can be costly and risky. Instead, those sportsbooks partner with a line originator who creates, publishes and maintains a line for them. In the state of Nevada, the primary line originators are Boyd Gaming, Caesars Entertainment, Cantor Gaming, Cal Neva, Leroy's, Lucky's, MGM Resorts, South Point Casino, Stations, Stratosphere, and Wynn. There are a few sportsbooks that produce their own independent line, such as Treasure Island, Peppermill, Las Vegas Hotel (LVH), Golden Nugget, and Atlantis. All other Nevada sportsbooks use a line from one of the Nevada line originators. Check the sortable list below to find your favorite sportsbook and see where it's lines are from. link

Pretty light on the offensive losses for Dodgers. I was on under 8 anyway but I really thought Puig would get at least a game.

Yup probably all true....but it's difficult to bet significant money at a vegas sportsbook. Cantor says they'll take any bet but in reality they won't. Vegas follows offshore and if they didn't you could move there and make a living to betting stale lines. Walk into sportsbook....when a line gets whacked at pinnacle, bet at vegas sportsbook before they move the line, profit.

Made some ribs the other night, bathed in Jack Daniels original BBQ sauce. Had some sauce left over so I marinated a ribeye overnight with it. Normally, I would only use kosher salt and pepper on a ribeye or NY strip, but I figured what the hell. OMFG! It came out freakin amazing. I brushed off the marinade completely before grilling it, and the flavor was still perfect throughout.

Yankees/Angels u8

What's your lean here? I was thinking of going the other direction. :oldunsure:

Nothing rocket science-y. Andy historically hasn't allowed many extra base hits to this Angels lineup, and our offense ####### stinks.

CJ Wilson. Yankees Lineup. Who wants it less?

Yesterday, the middle of the Yankee order (Tex/Youk/Hafner/Wells) combined to go 0-for-28.

It was as pathetic to watch as you might imagine. But have no fear... here are the averages of the guys hitting after Cano tonight:

.229

.000

.217

.133

.140

If Wilson doesn't look like Christy Mathewson tonight, he should retire immediately after the game.
