Border Patrol was all over the ranch last weekend. They had a "confirmed" party of 13 mules that came across the river into my property on Friday night. Saturday they apprehended 7, with no contraband. Sunday morning they located, followed and lost the coyote. Still no dope. Sunday afternoon late they found an (undetermined amount) of empty backpacks about a mile from my north property line. Monday around noon, radio crackled that they found 3 more mules heading back to Mexico, attempting to cross the river. One was snakebit, and assumed fatal. Again, no contraband.
Either one of my neighbors is getting rich, or the BP is dirty. We have alot of traffic on our ranch due to leases with livery companies, universities studying artifacts, and the occasional fisherman. Whitetail season doesn't start until November, and those folks are (appear) upfront. I know it's a lot of country to cover, but there has to be a dropoff point somewhere that we don't know about.
