FFA Wagering Thread: THERE HE IS!@! (9 Viewers)

Have to remember to fade the next pitcher to make their first start at Coors.
Missed it again. It is going to be 2014 before I get to play this angle. <_<
Bettis has only pitched twice at home, but they were against the Giants and Pirates - who are certainly not the Dodgers on the road.

The last time Kershaw pitched in Coors the score was 7-5 (although he pitched well his first start this year)

The Rockies have scored the 2nd most runs at home this year.

The Rockies pen, with the 7th worst ERA in baseball, pitched 115 pitches in relief yesterday

I'm rolling with FSU -3 and ML to finish up a couple weekend wagers. I was thinking of the o19 for Pitt and/or maybe taking some points. :blackdot:

The box score is misleading, 7-5 was Kershaw's record at the time. He pitched a CGSO last time out at Coors.
Sorry, that was July 2nd. LA won 8-0 (his record was 7-5)

On May 31st, LA won 7-5 with Kershaw starting

CWS/NYY o8.5 (many units)
Tailed. Looking to scrape together some $$ to blow on Fla St tonight.
A long rain delay in the 2nd has chased both terrible starters. This is where gambling sucks.

:scared:

It's not like an Axlerod Vs Huff Game wouldn't have got our attention.

2012 Records

Florida State: 12-2 (beat Northern Illinois in the Orange Bowl)

Pittsburgh: 6-7 (lost to Ole Miss in BBVA Compass Bowl)

Pittsburgh was in a weaker conference, had a worse record and then didn’t impress in their bowl game. You know they would have preferred to open ACC play against anyone besides FSU!

2012 Offense

Florida State: 19 in total offense (39 in passing, 24 in rushing)

Pittsburgh: 71 in total offense (46 in passing, 92 in rushing)

Florida State was much more potent…but that was with a different quarterback. We have to remember though that FSU had a knack for ill-timed turnovers…and for running up the stats against bad defenses. They also could be shaky away from home, given a 17-16 loss to NC State and that title tilt nailbiter against Georgia Tech. You have to assume an edge to FSU in terms of raw production. Can they avoid the turnovers with a redshirt freshman quarterback?

2012 Defense

Florida State: 2 in total defense (1 in passing, 3 in rushing)

Pittsburgh: 17 in total defense (20 in passing, 31 in rushing)

Florida State has much better athletes. But, Pittsburgh did an excellent job last year slowing down opponents with smarts, schematics, and a few athletes of their own as well. Part of that ranking is playing on slow Eastern turf against run heavy teams in the Big East. Even with that…you’ve got to give credit where it’s due. Pittsburgh is better defensively than you were probably thinking!

Returning Starters (Projected Quarterback)

Florida State: 6 on offense, 4 on defense (Jameis Winston)

Pittsburgh: 5 on offense, 8 on defense (Tom Savage)

This is the potential headache for FSU. They’re starting a redshirt freshman on the road against a good defense that returns eight starters. And, the kid quarterback just spent the summer reading about how great he looked in the Spring game. If he turns the ball over a couple of times, it’s going to be very difficult covering a double digit spread. In essence….any selection in this game will come down to whether or not you think Winston can handle the pressure. The cover is on his shoulders.

Jimbo led teams start off historically slow. Fsu has mucho talent returning at wr but I'd expect a heavy dose of Wilde & Free running tonight. I'm on the -10 side too but it'll be stout D under a new coordinator and the running game when they cover.

Go noles

I'm a believer in Jamies Winston. Sure he had a lot of press this preseason, but I think it's for good reason. The rumor was Clint Trickett saw him in spring ball and didnt even give the coaches any aggravation about the fact that Winston took the first snaps. He more or less packed his bags the day after the spring game and asked the coaches to do the right thing and let him transfer, a move they signed off on because he handled it well.

I get the theory. And you are probably right about the press clippings and the 8 returning starters for Pitt..... that said I'm laying the 12 and taking Fla St tonight.

Edit - because I always say "James"

PITT has a tendency to look like such a bunch of scrubs like nobody else can. That said, FSU has a tendency to sleepwalk against inferior opponents. This one ain't easy. Maybe we'll look at the total.

i haven't looked recently, but i was getting 12.5 at SB and 10 at RB. Teased Pitt up to 18.5 with FAU +27 on thursday. Played FSU straight at RB -10. Have a couple other plays with FSU teased and parlayed at -4 and -11.

I may be an idiot, but Toledo was a 23.5 dog @ Florida and they're a 17 pt dog @ Mizzou this week. No way Mizzou is only 6.5 worse than Florida....right?

I looked at that line the same way you did. It seems logical. Also seems like i'm being fished in. Mizzou has won 6 straight against MAC foes by an average of 37-15. I like FAU stepping down in class on the national spotlight against an East Carolina squad that had their hands full with OLD DOM(who joins that conference next yr)!! East Carolina defense is a sieve.

Do any of you have thick-headed friends like this?

So my buddy has an online fantasy draft tonight at Yahoo with guys from work. We have a plan all set up. He's gonna text me pick-by-pick what's going on, and I'll tell him which guys to take. 8-team league. I'm all fired up to assemble a freaking All-Star team for him. MUST start 3 WRs and it's PPR for all. He's at the turn... 1.08 and 2.01.

1) Peterson

2) Martin

3) Charles

4) Calvin

5) Spiller

6) McCoy

7) Rice

..... I text him "Take RB Trent Richardson and WR Dez Bryant"

[2-minute pause]

"I took Aaron Rodgers and Arian Foster"

:wall:

In an 8-team league, I would be the LAST guy to take a QB. 7th/8th round or so.

I wrote back "Good job... you blew it" and turned my phone off.

Yeah have a buddy I always give solid advice to and he butchers it, although I have directed him to a 1st round bust the last 3 or 4 years

I may lead him to a fantasy baseball title though...hopefully get rewarded with some Benihana

You're a good friend...if this were me I'd tell my buddy to learn how to use the Internet so he can draft himself
