And while we are on these, if you are in Philly and you get the people trying to sell you the homeless paper ("One step away" i think it is called) be cool with them. I made the one guy in the train station a deal that if i made money gambling over the weekend i would buy a paper from them when i see them on Monday (it doesn't cost anything, they just want a donation). Well one day i see them no longer in the train station so i ask one of the guys i always see what happened. Dude tells me that a week ago some suit got real d-bag to them and told a few of them to all get a job and made a big scene about it in the train station. So a day later, they see the guy again and proceeded to beat the crap out of him before he went to work.

I told the dude i was glad I was on his side

I'm wondering what would happen if instead of 2+ days rest, you could filter for the visiting team having more rest than the home favorite. 1 day vs. 0, etc.

Flyers are +160 on the road to Boston, and getting 29% of spread bets tonight. Obviously don't fit the last two criteria re: rest and off a loss.

I don't have any evidence to back this up other than my own memory, but I think dogs tend to hit at a better rate early in the season. a veteran team like the Bruins probably didn't play their core guys much in the preseason so I think it's normal to start out rusty.

Considering taking Dallas at +200 to win the NFC East. I'm not sold on the Eagles, and I like the Cowboys a lot more this year taking pressure off Romo with an increased commitment to the run game. While it's not a crazy good level to get them at, I'm not sure the Eagles should be favored at all to win. Both the Eagles and the Cowboys have played relatively easy schedules thus far, but the Cowboys have an easier schedule going forward. Here's an excerpt from Football Outsiders week 5 DVOA article (http://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvoa-ratings/2014/week-5-dvoa-ratings) on the two teams.

... The other two teams, Dallas and Philadelphia, rank 12th and 13th. Philadelphia, as we all know, has built its wins on a ridiculous number of defense/special teams return touchdowns. The Eagles have DVOA below 0% for two of their four wins this year (Week 1 against Jacksonville and Week 5 against St. Louis). Dallas has been a bit better and its success is a bit more sustainable, though the Cowboys are still getting dragged down in DVOA by their poor Week 1 performance against San Francisco. These teams have also succeeded by playing easy schedules so far. Philadelphia has had the easiest schedule in the first five weeks, and Dallas ranks 29th. For the rest of the season, Philadelphia's schedule is fifth and the Cowboys rank 13th.

I've considered waiting until the Cowboys go into Seattle this weekend to try to get them at a better level next Monday. There's also the Giants in the mix at +400. Just really don't think the EAgles should be favored at all here.
