FFPC dynasty and redraft thread (2 Viewers)

Calling out for anyone that wants to jump in a $35 SuperFlex BB Tourney
So I ended up jumping in this one which makes it just the second SF I've done, in like ever.

SF is definitely a difference experience and I might not have the required type of draft strategy figured out but I must admit it's kind of refreshingly new and in particular the first few rounds and different ways you can build your team feels almost liberating vs more of the cookie cutter standard leagues.

Anyway here was my first ever SF team, SF related criticism welcome:

Josh Allen, Bryce Young, Shough/Rattler
Achane, Irving, Harvey/Dobbins, Braelon Allen, Jerome Ford
Tyreek, Marvin Jr, Flowers, Addison, Kyle Williams, Wicks
Kincaid, Mason Taylor, Juwan J, Taysom Hill
Good team. Tyreek is the ultimate win now asset so if you aren't findind sucess right away you might want to move him quick but overall it seems like a team that could contend.

Any SF team with Josh Allen is a team that must be contended with. I wouldn't call an Allen team a contender in a vacuum, but an out to get past nonetheless.

My preference would be to plant a flag with Shough/Rattler and save the other spot for another skill position, or a different team's 4th QB (if even available I wouldn't be surprised if Rattler was your 20th pick and the board looked like crap).

Looks like you got really good value on your first several picks. To snag Achane, Irving, Tyreek, Marvin Jr along with Josh Allen for what I presume is the first five rounds is darn good. Then Young and Flowers and Harvey I guess.

It sure is hard to hit every checkbox in SF drafts and so it looks to me like TE was the one that you chose to wait, and I'm pretty big on Taylor, I think Kincaid certainly can have a bounceback, and Juwan and Taysom will have their weeks in best ball. It would be the weakest position group but it's also the weakest in fantasy in general so if you're going to punt a position... anyway yeah I like it good draft.

it is a best ball redraft team. there is zero management once the draft is over. It is Tyreek or bust.

The $5 FFPC Best Ball Slim league that 10 of us SharkPoolers joined just finished. Here’s my roster from the 11 slot:

  1. Amon-Ra WR
  2. Derrick Henry RB
  3. JSN WR
  4. Kamara RB
  5. Aaron Jones RB
  6. DK Metcalk WR
  7. Nix QB
  8. Kraft TE
  9. Jake Ferguson TE
  10. T Etienne RB
  11. JJ McCarthy QB
  12. Thielen WR
  13. K Miller RB
  14. Stafford QB
  15. Mims WR
  16. Okonkwo TE
  17. K Hunt RB
  18. Austin WR
  19. Mostert RB
  20. McCloud WR
ETA: very happy with my overall approach: alternating RB and WRs the first 6 rounds and kinda waiting on QB and TE, but then hit those positions to get 3 of each between rounds 7 and 16. Then a bunch of RB and WRs dart throws to finish up. Not sure why I picked Mostert since he’s 99 years old. ;)

$5 FBG best ball team - draft board

Drafted from the 7 slot...
Mayfield, Goff
Achane, Mixon, Mason, Dobbins, Chubb, Corum
Lamb, Evans, Godwin, Addison, Pittman, McMillan, Pierce, Iosivas, Lockett
Kittle, Ertz, Schultz

Didn't plan on stacking Tampa, kind of built itself after Evans.
I thought I was out on Mixon, but seemed like the best available in the 5th. Prioritized Chubb later.
Would have liked a 3rd QB, but didn't make enough of an effort to do so.

Did my last Gorilla last night for awhile, from the 8:

Fields
Achane, Henderson, K Johnson, B Robinson, B Allen, Brooks, Tucker
Nabers, JSN, Jamo, K Coleman, Harris, Ayomanor
Andrews, Strange, T Ferguson, Arroyo

Since you only have one QB I assume Gorilla leagues have waivers or trades?

They do have waivers but no trades, and in my experience it is never a problem to find a good streaming option. Tua, B Young, Ward, Wilson, Arich & Jones, Penix, Darnold are available right now and some of the other owners that are rostering two of them will find it is hard to do so.

not sure how many of us FBGers made it into this draft, but here is my team from our completed $35 FFPC SuperFlex BestBall Tourney ($100k for 1st place)

Hurts, Lawrence, Flacco & Gabriel
Achane, K Johnson, Skattebo, Tuten, Shipley, Brooks
AJ Brown, Wilson, Hunter, Metcalf, Egbuka, Tillman, E Moore
Andrews, Strange, Taylor

Gabriel was an autopick even though he was in my queue. But I slept in on that one and probably would have taken Brooks a round earlier instead and then grabbed either Ayomanor or Dyami Brown, but I don't mind it. I think Cleveland might actually win games with Flacco but I have zero clue if either of the rookies emerges enough to roster in a BB like this.

not sure how many of us FBGers
Unless someone was lurking looks like 4 of us and we got fairly bunched together in the draft board with with picks 1, 3, 4 and 6.

I posted my first SF draft a few days ago and 4 people from that draft were in this one picking at 5, 7, 10 and 12. So with me picking 6 it was like one half of the board was mainly FBG's and the other half was people I just drafted with. And it was not great, was kind of rough at times tbh.

Burrow, Penix, Ward
Henry, Kamara, Rhamondre, J Wright, Braelon Allen, Giddens, JCM
London, Tee, Addison, Pittman, Legette, Wicks, Ayomanor
Njoku, Kincaid, Pitts

Daniels Jayden, Mayfield Baker, Shough Tyler
Thomas Brian, Rice Rashee, McMillan Tetairoa, Godwin Chris, Reed Jayden, Douglas DeMario, Brown Dyami
Williams Kyren, Pacheco Isiah, Guerendo Isaac, Dobbins J.K., Hill Justice, Mitchell Elijah
LaPorta Sam, Ferguson Jake, Johnson Juwan, Sinnott Ben

Meh....
Timed out a couple of times (pick1 was fine (Daniels)), (pick14 was not fine (Shough)). Wanted Otton there and thought i had him in the queue, but snooze u lose. So instead of Otton as my 3rd and final TE I felt I had to take 2 more (Juwan with the QB i didn't want) and Sinnott with Daniels. Fwiw, if I had selected a 3rd QB I would have chosen Milroe much later.

Doing my first BB SF draft on FPPC.... Picking at #9.. what a terrible place to pick from. Trying something different and going WR-WR for first two rounds.

Here's the board if interested (and if you can see it: https://myffpc.com/DraftBoardStandard.aspx?ltuid=A3D-1D15087373F6

FWIW: 1st rd went like this:
  1. J. Allen
  2. J. Daniels
  3. L. Jackson
  4. J. Hurts
  5. J. Chase
  6. J. Burrow
  7. B. Robinson
  8. B. Bowers
  9. C. Lamb (Me)
  10. S. Barkley
  11. P. Mahomes
  12. J. Jefferson
I had planned on snagging either McCaffery or Gibbs on way back... but the first 3 of Rd 2 went McCaffery, K/ Murray, J. Gibbs (Right in front of me).... so I grabbed Nabers.

So I am still interested if we want to get a group to draft in the $35 pool. I pinged FPPC to see if we can create a custom BB SF league and have a slow draft timer, as the current setup is live draft only. If we can do that, are you guys game?

Yeah I mean that's cool, I'm game. Once I get to the $35 tier, though, my preference would be to play for the $100k in the SF Tourney, which does have plenty of slow drafts. There are 3 rooms at this very moment for example that have 12 openings and clean slates, two with 2-hour timers and one with a 6-hour timer. But I would play in an isolated 12 team FBG league rather than the bigger tourney if others preferred or if there were more enthusiasm or whatever in that direction.

A few of us just completed one of those SF BB Tourney drafts for $35 but there were only 4 of us from the board.

I talked with FFPC and they are willing to set up a private best ball league for us so we can get all of our guys in. We would pick the format and price point. So we could do a $5 BB Slim with a 2 or 6 hour timer. I would like to add SuperFlex as I am getting into that this year. Based on the earlier threads, I pinged you all to see if you are interesed. I would need your email address so I can have FFPC link your account to the private league. Please let me know if you guys are game. PM me today if you can and I can get this thing moving. I would opt for the 6-hr timer as I have a bunch of traveling for work, so that makes it a bit easier if you guys are cool with that.

I’m game for a $5or $10 BB with 6 hour timer. I don’t do much SuperFlex but I’m game for that too!
I’ll pm you on the side with my email address.

I'm game for a cheap draft. I'd prefer the 6 hour timer as well. I also don't do a lot of SuperFlex, but if that's the consensus, I'm still in.

Thanks for going through that effort but please replace me.

Enjoy drafting with people here but now that I discovered the $35 SF tourney I'd just as well prefer to do that. Also I'm out on soul crushing 6 hour draft clocks which it sounds like some prefer. I'm the impatient type.

I'm asking them to set up a $5 one. So we'll keep it minimal. 6-hour timer it is. As I've gottent the PMs, I bolded your team name earlier so you can see I have you in the email. Once we fill it up I will send to Mike and have him set us up.

Yeah the 6 hour clocks kill me but I'll do it. I've drafted 3 completed SF BB Tourney teams with 2 hour clocks but am still 4 rounds to go in the one I registered in with a 6 hour clock, and it was the first one to get started.

I'm still down for more $35 SF BB Tourney drafts with folks here as well. I don't mind doing both. As usual there is a room right now with a 2 hour clock available and 12 open seats. #97828 Imma jump in it and see if we can fill it with more than 4 of us

*I sent my email DM for the $5 one above

2 or 6 works for me. As I said I prefer 6. But the 2 hour clock is one of the reason I partnered up with Brewer from here on the last one. He's up late and I'm up early.

How come I can't IR Brooks yet on FFPC dynasty league rosters ? He is already been ruled out for the season and Carolina placed him on PUP ending his year.

How come I can't IR Brooks yet on FFPC dynasty league rosters ? He is already been ruled out for the season and Carolina placed him on PUP ending his year.

It will get sorted out.

There was a discrepancy with the league office and Carolina on the PUP designation they gave him(put him on Active/PUP instead of Reserve/PUP). Long story short Carolina thought it opened up a roster spot but it did not and they had to cut someone off their 90 man roster for now.

They have already indicated they will move him from Active/PUP to IR before the season.

About a month ago in the "live chat" on the page where you sign up for FFPC leagues, someone asked this same question, and FFPC said they'll allow IR moves some time in August.

Fired another $35 bullet at the SF Best Ball Tourney. Did a live draft just now from the 9 spot. $100k right here:

Fields, Geno, Russ
Henry, Hampton, Brian Robinson and JCM, Skattebo, Brooks
Wilson, Jamo, Flowers, Egbuka, Higgins, Bech & Thornton
Bowers, Taylor, T Ferguson, Arroyo

I'm currently in a very slow moving 2 hour draft in this contest and just jumped in a live draft out of the 7 spot I just finished. Looks like we got 20% similar teams.

I'm not even trying to do so many of these, they just have been the easiest contest to get into a draft.

QB: Burrow, Love, Malik Willis
RB: Bucky, C Brown, Kamara, Blue, Braelon Allen, JCM
WR: Devonta, Flowers, Juedy, Reed, Golden, Tillman, Legette
TE: McBride, Kraft, Ferguson, Arroyo

First one of these I did not get a viable third starting QB option. Not ideal.

nice nice. I have one more pick to go in a 2 hour slow and the first one I started four weeks ago still has one more pick to go. the 2 hour slow started 3 nights ago and will be completed in less than 4 days.

And here is that completed 2hour draft in less than 4 days. From the 2:

Allen, Fields
Taylor & Giddens, Hampton, Swift, B Allen, Brooks
Tyreek, Metcalf, Odunze, Egbuka, K Coleman, Palmer, E Moore
Kincaid, Freiermuth, Taylor, Gadsden

As for the question of only going 2 QB in a SuperFlex format... I think the idea is that you fire several different shots at a tourney like this. Bullets as we say. Similar to poker tourneys with re-buys. And you draft to a scenario. You commit to that scenario when you draft. If Fields loses his job or if either QB gets hurt, that doesn't sink my team, per se, though it certainly moves in that direction. The studs at other positions, and the boom weeks of the bench guys, can offset and do more than compete in that actual SF spot. Watch you don't take a 0 when one is benched/hurt and the other is on bye.

But the main thing that outweighs all the rest of that is that you are using a strategy where you understand some bullets will miss. But you committed to that scenario. Most of these Jets stacks that I've been doing crucially include Wilson, but if you're going to draft Fields in the 2nd round of a SF, then you are making the bet and assumption that he keeps the job and helps you win the thing. So there isn't necessarily as much of an incentive to hedge with a 3rd QB as may appear.

In a previous one above I had stacked Geno with Bowers/Bech/Thornton and so yeah would have loved to grab Jakobi but after taking Bowers in the 1st round I basically committed to taking Geno because the scenario I'm assuming it comes to pass that Bowers smashes. And in the scenario where the Raiders smash then I've got a big big piece of it.

Stacking scenarios.

Appreciate sharing the thought process but since I'm new to SF I was not sure how to build my roster before I drafted I studied the top 10 overall finishes from the previous two seasons and seems like going with 2 Qb's is a difficult path to take.

Zero teams who finished in the top 10 the last two years drafted less then 3 QB's.

Last year every team in the top 10 drafted exactly 3 QB's. The previous year 7 teams in the top 10 took 3 QB's, 3 teams took 4 QBs'.

I know the goal is to win the whole thing of course but you got to survive to advance and I also had noticed that between drafting 2-8 QB's that the lowest advancement rate was surprisingly going with just 2 QB's. (better then the 3 total teams that chose 1 and 9 though)

The one caveat to that is that in a few cases those third(and 4th QB's )were relatively worthless due to injury or not having the starting job. So I do think it's possibe to buck those odds if your two stay healthy all year.

Also I've wondered if going stack heavy is as critical in this format? I think you need at least one, just not sure how heavy it needs to be. Just a thought because if we assume most weeks a QB will occupy the flex spot it's not opening up as many starting lineup options. If that makes any sense?

I did not study this vs the non-SF $125 BB but as near as I could tell the winning team in the SF tourney last year had one stack. Hurts and Devonta. I checked only the teams who finished in the top 5 and they all had one stack but a lot of them were QB/RB and all in all not really heavy. 3 teams had 3 player stacks on the same teams with one team(that finished third) having two 3 player stacks. A Goff/Jameson/Monty , Goff/Jameons/Gibbs, Baker/Godwin/Bucky and a Burrow/Higgins/Mike G.

Again I'm new to SF so just studying past trends but I came to conclusion you needed at least one stack but don't need to be to heavy on any team and at the risk of sounding stupid the biggest key is just drafting good players with your later picks. Tons of Bucky, Brian Thomas, Goff and Baker teams.
