Final Spots for Ultimate Survivor (1 Viewer)

I would like to be in this league.

For several years I have tried to get into one of these leagues and have failed. My captions are not witty and my writing style not clever.

I am in the Shark Infest FFL made up of FBG's, 4 local leagues, and Hyper Active 3 and 4. I am a long time subscriber and poster. Rustyfa for most of that time. Now Rustyfa2 because of a log-in issue. I know what I am doing and spend way too much time on this.

I check every league I am in every day. All year long. I love fantasty football and am good at it. I am a consistent poster in the Shark Pool and AC. Not so much in the FFA anymore and I think I am a better person for it.

I get "it". Not many people do.

You will get a ton of great applicants for these spots. I am asking to be considered. I will do well. Thank you-Rusty

Also Ryan (Jeter) the commish from the HyperActive leagues needs to be in this league.

I got smoked in the first leg last year by both FBG experts Jene Bramel and John Norton. I am wanting another shot this year to exact my revenge or at least make it look somewhat respectable this time around. Last year I played under my alter ego who sucked at fantasy football this year I'm back with a new name, new attitude and hopefully will be the new champion. Bring it on. :goodposting:

Hi,

Would like to giv ethe Ultimate Survivor a try. I've been a Fantasy Football geek since long before footballguy and it's precursor cheatsheets.net were around. I will have an assistant, my 10 year old son. He has drafted and managed his own team the last two years in a friendly 10.00 pay league. He beat me last year.....and I've heard about it ever since. Kinda sad when one of your goals for the upcoming year i to beat your 10 year old son in fanatsy football.

I'd like to be considered for a spot in the contest.

FBG member since 2003
Played FFB since 1992. Survivor leagues since 2000.
I've progressively finished higher each season in the subscribers contest. Made it to the last few weeks in 08.
I mostly post in the FFA these days but share in the SP and offer feedback in the Assistant Coach forum during the season.
I've competed well in ad-hoc contests/leagues over the years in the FFA.
I found this site in 2003 while doing research for the upcoming FFB season. Been a year round family member here ever since.I was one of the FBG that got hosed in the "Turf War" debacle a couple of years ago. Of course that doesn't have any reflection on FBG. There were several of us from here that gave them a look because of a TWar thread here. I won $1190 but never saw the money or got any response from those guys. It was unfortunate but life goes on.

The survivor contest looks like fun. Thanks for your consideration.

Jay

I'm Bryan, a SWM looking for a women who loves seafood, puppies, long walk on the beach and..... Oh wait, wrong forum. Fantasy football, umm..

Why me for Ultimate Survivor? I've been a long time member, semi-regular poster and one of the few yet dedicated Jaguars fans. As one of the few Jags fans I've tried to focus my posting time to help answer questions about the Jags since few people are offering the local die hard fans perspective about the small market Jaguars. Most of my fantasy experience over the last 10 years has been in a handful of decent money leagues where I've had a great deal of success. For a few years now I've wanted to try my luck against other posters and staff on this message board to see if that success might translate to a slightly larger stage. If selected I to promise I'll meet all time commitments, field a respectable team and talk TONS of smack.

According to a slightly modified Wikipedia definition, self preservation is part of an animal's instinct that demands that the organism survives. Pain and fear are parts of this mechanism. Pain causes discomfort so that the organism is inclined to stop the pain. Fear causes the organism to seek safety and may cause a release of adrenaline which has the effect of increased strength and heightened senses such as hearing, smell, sight, and fantasy football prowess.

I would like to see how I react when pain and fear are inflicted by some of fantasy football’s best.

Been playing fantasy football for 15 years and have plenty of hardware along the way. Always one of the most active members in all of my leagues. Tireless uncompensated commish for my work league for the past 6 years.

I may not be the most frequent poster, but frequent Footballguys on a daily basis throughout the year. Been a subscriber for at least the past 3 years (and re-upped for 09) and been around since cheatsheets.net. Almost have 3-digit cred. My captions have yet to break into the top five for the past 2 years. Was #17 in subscriber contest in ’07. Active in Unlucky’s Phenom leagues.

I guarantee that I will bring it if lucky enough to be considered.

I am an expert werewolf player. That allows me to separate those who are contending from those who are just pretending. I can tell if a player is going to be bad or good.

Plus, I've been coaching Penn State for about 135 years now, so that should bring something to the table.

I'd like to be considered for a spot in this year's Ultimate Survivor for the following reasons:

a) I love the NFL

b) I love crunching numbers and evaluating stats ...

b) I feel that I have contributed to Footballguys.com for years and I would truly like the opportunity to compete against the Staff and other skilled FFL enthusiasts.

c) I love this hobby.

Thanks!

I should be chosen becasue I've been an ardent supporter of FBG since 2003. I've touted this site from the onset, extolling the virtues and value received for mere pennies, telling anyone who would listen about this "great web-site" I found. Spreading the gospel of FBG long before "freebies" were given away to do so. I even surprised myself with my enthusiasm for this site. After telling Mr. Bryant I might be able to pass along a few hundred FBG cd's in my travels I was sent 500 of them. They arrived this past Monday and as of this writing I have already given out 300 of them and have heard from several "future" Football Guys about how informative the cd was and that as a result they had or are planning to visit the site. I've enthusiastically supported FBG's for six years and I believe being chosen for this contest would be the ultimate "perk" for that loyalty. But even if I'm not chosen I will continue to tout the advantages of this site. And I should have the rest of those cd's passed out by the end of the weekend!

Top 5 Reasons LarryAllen'sJockstrap should be chosen.

1. Played in the contest last year (as JimboJim) and would love a second shot to avenge my first round schlubbing.

2. I've bought a subscription every year since you guys started charging... and got a bunch of my friends on here too.

3. Similiar to "the rover", I too do not wear underwear.

4. A vast majority of my workdays are dedicated to perusing this site.

5. My user name is LarryAllen'sJockstrap and my avatar is a pic of a really fat dude... nuff said.

Sure, I'd like to be considered:

My wife gave birth to triplets in 2007 and by going down from two incomes to one with 3 new dependents, our budget is strained. I allow myself one money league to play in (same league for 12 years) but have had to cancel my FBG subscription after they were born. The prize money would buy a lot of milk and the free lifetime sbscription would come in handy.

Although I never played in a survivor league before, I have been in my league's Superbowl 5 times in 12 years (won 2). I am an average Joe and I think I can be competative.

I have been coming to this site even before it was FBG. And even though I visit FBG daily, even during the offseason, I do not post very often though regularly. I post when I have something to ask or add value, not just to increase my post count or to hear myself talk. I try to be as excellent as I can and try to follow all the rules.

Thanks.

It's hard to admit I'm not 25 anymore. I passed up the greatest chance I could have had right now, and it hurts. By saying no, I know I'm leaving an incredible opportunity on the table, and that opportunity is not coming back.

A lot of people, I know, have been saying, "Well, you strung the Footballguys along. Why the hell couldn't you have told them earlier?" What do you think I was doing? I was trying to figure it out.

I really believe this is it. I truly, truly believe it's over. But if someone calls Nov. 1, who knows?

All of these submissions after midnight are invalid....right?
Just because they're infirm doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to participate. The Shark Pool is ADA compliant.

1. Always draft a competitive team in these type of leagues.

2. Lhucks brags about his Anarchy record being among the best...best checking in. Ignagural EBF survivor champ, Interboard Challenge champ 2008, blah, blah.

3. Don't put as much time/effort into the FBG Survivor leagues as Twilight, but it's a significant amount of time.

4. Need the winnings to add more HEB.

5. I won't let my wife draft my team for me. I'll read the rules before the draft.

I want in!!! I was a last minute fill in last year for a FBG who was unable to make the draft. When I say last minute........I mean last 30 minutes as that was when I was officially given the invite from Clayton. It was my first experience in a survivor league and I had just that amount of time to prepare. Needless to say....I pretty much got stomped.

This time, however, I know what its about and will be much better prepared. I'm a FF'aholic and have been playing since Barry Sander's rookie year. He was on my team along with players like James Brooks and Mark Duper. \

Would much appreciate a chance at redemption!

I participated last year by winning a spot with my Marshawn Lynch to teach drivers education "fake story" I visit the site multiple times a day and can attend and be flexible with all the draft dates, times, and types because this is my favorite time of the year.

Please consider. I had a great time last year!

Good luck choosing amongst this group, as there as a lot of fantastic drafters that posted in this thread so far and which I have had the pleasure of drafting with.

I'm another that is not an avid poster due to other family and work commitments, but can easily describe myslef as a fantasy football junkie. I've been using FBG since the old yeller days and even before that when you made the transition from cheatsheets.

I've been doing the Message Board Survivor leagues since they began and have many top five finishes and one or two wins. Would love to compete against the best!

BTW, I'll also put in a good word for Twilight for looking after us.

Thanks, Punk

Hello, I would like to try my hand at this contest again. Not the biggest poster so my resume comes from this contest last year when I got in with a fake news story and made a run as an unknown. First leg was leg 6, a survivor. In no week did I finish lower than 4th of the 12 teams so in essence, I was never in danger of going home and ended the 5 week period with the most points scored and would have had the highest best ball record best ball was used for picking spots in the second leg and I had 3rd pick of the 48 guys remaining). In leg two, I was in leg 4 which was best ball. My low week was 7th but all other weeks was 4th or better again. After week ten was done, I had the highest best ball record by 6 games and again the highest points scored.

I did come up well short in the Championship round but a respected Sigmund Bloom did a post draft write up and named my team as one of his four picks in it to win it. While in the end, the dice didn't roll in my favor I think I turned some heads by being the top team in two legs and having a respectable draft in the last round.

I'm hoping you'll see this as impressive enough to give me a spot because I welcome the challenge of this event again.

I would love to join the Ultimate Survivor League 2. US1 was a blast last year.

--> I am in 21 leagues so why not 22?

--> Fantasy Football addict since 1990

--> Wrote a fantasy football guide for purchase-by-mail way back in 1993 (yes way back in the manual scoring days

--> try as much as possible to make informative/analytical posts (no 'empty' posts) and try to post in Asst Coach forum often during the season

Plus, you can help save my marriage by letting me in!

I very much enjoyed the contests to be selected, and even if not selected I wouldn't say I wasted the hours combined that I spent contributing to each contest because I had a blast and laughed in every thread at the posts. But, it would justify those hours to my wife who asked what I was doing on the computer for so long. "Honey, it's not porn this time, I am filling out contest entries to enter a free fantasy football league that has fantastic prizes." I don't want to tell her I missed out!

Oh and P.S. ... please re-institute the fake FBG email story contest next year as that is how I qualified last year. You see I am a natural at B.S. so that type of comedy came naturally

I'd like to get in, of course.

* Multiple drafts over numerous (4?) years in the WSL, PDSL, SSL, MBSL, MBSL-IDP and White Elephant mocks. Usually fair pretty well. Top 3 at least once.

* Former FBG Blogger.

* Current Street Teamer.

* Current IBL team member.

* Avid/Semi-avid SP poster.

* Try to be helpful to others in the Applications forum.

* Lifetime subscriber.

* Multiple championship appearances, always in contention for a title thanks to FBG.

* One fantabulous money league Championship and all the glory that accompanies it. Thank you FBG!!

* Neither funny nor witty, so I only entered one "Caption" contest (Natty Light guy) this year.

* Never been involved in any Ultimate Survivor's yet.

* I'll graciously give up my 2009 slot to Twilight if it comes down to a choice as he most assuredly deserves it more than I do. ;)

If I am not one of the chosen ones, best of luck to those of you that do get in. If I do get in, you all don't have a prayer.

Rody

Would love to have a chance to compete in this again this year.

Participated in 2006 Triathlon Leg 1 (highest total score for 16 weeks) and last year's Ultimate Survivor (not so hot  ).
Compete yearly in multiple teams on the Mock Draft board - several Top 3 finishes and an SSL win last year. Run draft threads where I can.
Represent FBGs in the Interboard League - Top 10 regular season finish last year.
Ran the Shark Pool Dynasty voting threads for WRs last year.
Longtime subscriber.
Would be interested in helping to write an article/blog on how to best draft in this type of league - is there one in the works?I'll echo the Twilight-for-Ultimate-Survivor theme and include BnB as well - without them the SLs wouldn't go off, and those provide a good picture (plus extra practice) for ADP at different points of the year.

Anyway, you have your work cut out for you in selecting from this group. Good luck and thanks for the consideration.

I would love another crack at the staff. I had been crafting new limericks all year in anticipation of redeeming my poor performance which I attribute to a disconnection during the auction and auto-bids pricing me out of the good-talent portion of the draft...and run-on sentences.

Here's one:

My limericks are clever and "punny"

My sense of humor is terribly funny

If you award me a spot

with a decent draft slot

I will surely end up in the money.

Another:

I could come up with rhymes all day.

Last year's got me a chance to play

They come from my mind

almost all of the time,

but this one I found on E-Bay.

Last one:

This is my final chance to get in

I'll need a good strategy to win.

With these five simple words,

"Just don't draft any turds"

Which means I won't take Brady Quinn!

TYIA!

I know I'm too late :boxing: but as an avid FBG reader, I would like to be on a list if anyone drops out or can't make it. :)

What ever happened? Was there a group chosen?
Yeah they are listed in the original Ultimate Survivor 2 thread, SL. That said, since you weren't apparently chosen, I'd recommend hanging around the board at about the time the drafts are scheduled to start on the chance that people fail to make it to the starting gate for their appointed league.-QG

Gotcha...thanks for the info!

I'd love to be included in this league. I love the site and I update my Draft Dominator notes every morning!
This is the 2009 contest thread and should be :excited: Here's the link to the Pick Me! Pick Me! thread which is the one they are using for 2010 consideration. Dunno if they are done picking the wildcardguys or not.

Good luck!
