I am not counting for too much out of Stanton. With all the QBs now hurt it looks like Drew may get his chance and why not?Kitna has no upside.Lions fans, are you ready to see what you have in Stanton, or would you rather have Kitna stay in?
you called in a few weeks ago about Calvin Johnson.. Man. I thought he was primed for a breakout year but there isn't a QB to throw him the ball. I suppose Stanton can't do much worse than the others but I sure don't like the prospects of a great year anymore for Calvin..I am not counting for too much out of Stanton. Torn ACL last pre-season, IRRC. And he sprained a thumb back in late-August this year. Reports had him aiming for being ready in week 4 and he's apparently been practicing and was named the 3rd QB the past couple weeks, so he seems good to go.When I saw Kitna on the sidelines and Orlovsky get hurt, I was wondering this same thing.Stanton looked pretty good in pre-season and is pretty mobile so at 0-4, I don't see why the Lions don't give him a shot.Isn't Stanton hurt?
The bottom line is that the Lions are a horrible football team. The D can not stop anyone so the other team always has the football. The o-line is the worst in football. There is no doubt CJ is a great talent, but I would unload him for a decent offer due to the teams struggles.you called in a few weeks ago about Calvin Johnson.. Man. From 10/4/08:STANTON UPDATE: Third-string quarterback Drew Stanton said the thumb on his right throwing hand felt "great" in his first week back to practice completely healthy.Isn't Stanton hurt?
Certainly the situation has changed after yesterday. If Orlovsky is sidelined, then I gotta think Stanton gets in a game very soon. From 10/4/08:STANTON UPDATE: Third-string quarterback Drew Stanton said the thumb on his right throwing hand felt "great" in his first week back to practice completely healthy.Isn't Stanton hurt?
Stanton said he could play this week if called upon, but coach Rod Marinelli said the possibility of Stanton being game-ready would take longer.
"It'd be a couple more weeks just to get in the feel of it," Marinelli said, "just getting a timing rhythm of throwing and verbiage and all those things."
With the Lions struggling, some fans have been calling for Stanton to replace Jon Kitna as the starter.
"You hear it a little bit," Stanton said with a laugh. "It's kind of hard not to when it's circulating. But nothing with anybody that has any control has told me anything. So it doesn't change my approach in any way, shape or form up to this point."

Mark this down. Stanton will not last more than two games before being injured.Certainly the situation has changed after yesterday. I'm not expecting the next Brett Favre or anything. Would just like to see this guy that's been on my dynasty bench for two years get a little regular season action.Mark this down. Stanton did not have a torn ACL, although he did have a knee injury. It's unlikely that he starts before week 8 because the Lions are on the road the next 2 weeks. Regardless of when, it's obvious he will start at some point.Torn ACL last pre-season, IRRC.
Hey Anthony.. I know you were very high on CJ coming in to this season. Are we in trouble big time with him or can he somehow turn it around??Stanton did not have a torn ACL, although he did have a knee injury. Good question. All I can say is Roy didn't have any problems putting up numbers yesterday. But Roy was targeted. I was shocked to see Calvin pretty much ignored for most of the game. Bad offenses don't always mean a WR can't put up numbers. Look at Bowe. No team has as bad of a QB situation as KC, yet Bowe is putting up solid numbers...because he is getting targets. If Calvin gets targets, he will be fine. No WR can live on 4 or so targets in a game. And as bad as the gloom and doom is, Calvin is still in the top 20. He didn't have a problem in the first two games, so it's not like he can't put up big numbers.Hey Anthony.. I know you were very high on CJ coming in to this season. Exactly, how can you justify not trying to force the ball to Calvin Johnson when you're getting your tail kicked? The Lions will probably give Kitna and Marinelli big extensions after next week's loss. These are the Lions... what a normal football franchise would do... they will do the complete opposite.
