I like most of these suggestion except possibly the bolded.

I'm OK with reducing military spending but 50% is too drastic. That sounds akin to the way Trump initiated travel restrictions (NOW! Don't think about it just do it NOW!). I'd want to start lower and ramp down.

Does eliminating NASA mean stopping all space exploration? Asking because to most NASA = Space Exploration but that doesn't necessarily have to be the case. Regardless I'm against eliminating NASA but curious as to your POV.

Re: defense spending, it it so far out of whack (+500B annually) in the amount of total govt spending. Start slow, implement a plan to get that in line. Re: NASA, to me, is not a deal breaker, but it's an easy way to start the process of putting the govt financial house in some way better.

It honestly wasn't a zing - on all of your points, while he may not have yet taken specific steps, he has shown a deference to those around him whose views may be more hostile than his may have previously been.  The presence of Jeff Sessions, Steve Bannon, and Stephen Miller in particular make me very concerned on these social issues.  

As for "proposed and enacted" - other than some hastily drafted and poorly and confusingly implemented exec orders, has there been any specific legislation proposed at this point?  I don't know the answer.  

In the spirit of the thread, while I disagree with most everything this administration appears to be about, I also disagree with the notion of a Gorsuch filibuster, based upon what we know about him today, both on philosophical and tactical grounds.  Philosophically, because ideology is not sufficient to deny a President his or her choices to the bench.  You disagree, win the elections so you get to choose.  Tactically, because triggering Mitch McConnell to use nuclear option over this nomination would be a mistake.  Make him use it on something that is a political loser (ACA replacement with HSAs, tax cuts for top 1%, etc.), and the road to victory in 2018 becomes a lot clearer.

Criticisms of both parties:

The democrats would dramatically widen their base if their rank-and-file members (like those on various internet forums) would show immense respect to the ethics and values of rural americans.

 The republicans would dramatically widen their base if they became more accepting of public funding of education. If there is one segment if society that is almost universally democrat it is in higher education and the reason is republicans want to cut public funding.  If republicans just adjusted their platform and said public funding of higher education is a national security issue, they could probably pick off 25%-35% of the education vote which these days seems to be 95% democrat and then they could get real competitive in many areas of the nation they currently are not.

Trying to find a common ground in a nation this divided is going to be very difficult.  

Probably around 85% of republicans distrust the mainstream media.  Probably around 85% of democrats trust the mainstream media.

A majority of urban americans support Obamacare.  And even bigger majority of rural americans want Obamacare abolished.

A majority of urban voters support same sex marriage.  A majority of rural voters oppose same sex marriage.

A majority of all americans lean democrat.  But likely voters swing way more republican.  So Trump can be between 40%-50% in approval rating among all americans but wind up winning easily on election day.

A huge majority of republicans support the travel ban.  A huge majority of democrats oppose the travel ban.

We've become more divided than ever.  Our views are not just opposite but incompatible.

I will tag back in here. The premise of this thread was things we can all agree upon. My initial post was where I stand that I know run counter to the GOP's usual SOP that I believe align me more with the Left's positions on these issues. THUS as a Trump voter I am attempting to "Find a Common Ground" with those that do not like Trump.

Huh?  I already listed 1 thing for each party.  I'll repeat myself.  Democrats need to respect rural american values more, and republicans need to embrace public education.

I misread David's post, this is what he said:

I thought he had asked for two things that people agree with the other "side" on. You had it right the first time, apologies.
