**Finless Memorial Gobbler - rodg12 Wins - Kyle Kendrick MVP (1 Viewer)

5.03 - Hector Noesi (SP)

Boasting a career 5.16 ERA and 1.4 HR/9 rate, Hector (pictured here wondering where it all went wrong) has all the makings of a solid Gobbler. He was able to convince the Mariners, Rangers and White Sox to allow him to pitch enough to log 172.1 innings last season, which is an impressive feat in itself. He's slated to begin the spring with a shot to hold down the White Sox's coveted No. 5 starter role, and even if he misses on it he should provide value as a long reliever and spot starter. Welcome aboard, Hector. We're really excited about your potential.

5.04 - Allen Craig, 1b/OF, Red Sox

Covers me at 1B and also offers OF availability should a truly terrible first baseman become available whenever we make transactions. He's also rumored to be given a shot to play some poor 3B this season. There's some scary bounce back potential here, so hopefully all the position changing and the inherent evil of the Red Sox will keep him hitting at an OPS of .594 like he put up in 2014, the third lowest number in the majors among those who qualified for the batting title. Seriously, if he can play that poorly and give me first base eligibility? SOD. Worth the gamble.

You guys and your write-ups make me REALLY feel like we don't know what we are doing.

My thought process usually goes, "does this guy suck and play a lot?" Or "Is this guy BJ Upton?"

if he gets 450 ABS he could be the worst regular catcher by far. his 2014 was hideous. great glove and thrower means lots of playing time. no eye, little power, bad offensive team and he is the 8 hitter. over under on combined hrs and bbs is 15.

Hmm. I wish I'd thought of this pick.

Did you miss the 100 million dollar contract the Sox gave to their new 3B?
ccording to Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe, the Red Sox have spoken to Allen Craig about playing some third base.Craig did make a handful of starts at third base during his tenure with the Cardinals and it's the position he played most frequently in the minors, so this isn't some crazy experiment. But he has looked stiff in the field (and even worse at the plate) since suffering a Lisfranc foot injury in late 2013. Craig is not a good bet for significant fantasy value in 2015, no matter what position he's playing.

GFYM TIA

Moops must have missed that Rotoworld post on Allen Craig. Too busy with weekday afternoon pork 'n nap sessions.

There was a problem with the Fantrax rankings not including WP for pitchers. It has been fixed in Fantrax and Googlesheet. It bumps pitching scores up a bit relative to hitters.

Hopefully both of these guys are available.

5.12 - Marlon Byrd, OF

6.01 - Mark Teixeira, 1B

Byrd was second in the majors with 185 Ks last year and is now 37. Guy also never walks. Teixeira is only 34, but plays like he's 44. His .216 average was 5th worst among qualified batters last year.

Both will probably have their days where they actually do well and piss me off, but I'm hoping the ####ty days far outweigh the good days. First base is going to be tough from here on out it looks like.

When updating the Googlesheet, I had to look up where Byrd is playing these days.

How did he end up in Cincinnati? Maybe more importantly, why did the Reds acquire him?

Cincinnati Enquirer says he'll hit 6th! Gotta love a 5% BB and 29% K rate. He's just a year removed from hitting .291, but so so old.

No wonder I missed it.

December 31, 2014: Traded by the Philadelphia Phillies with cash to the Cincinnati Reds for Ben Lively (minors).

aaron harang, p, 6.07

phils are bad and the move to that park should hurt him. i need the Ks to diminish with further age and i need his durability to trot out there every 5th day and stink to a 1.45 whip.
