finley injury? (1 Viewer)

per Adam Schefter:

Packers TE Jermichael Finley has an MRI on his knee scheduled for tomorrow, but initial diagnosis is that all ligaments appear intact.

I have him on my team that has 8 other injuries. This basically means he'll be week-to-week. Not so injured that I have to cut him, but too injured to play a while wreaking havoc with my starting line-up.

Anyhow, the news does sound encouraging. Given how quickly they reported Clayton's knee-injury with the Rams (and that he's done) anything that's not that for Finley has gotta be seen as good news.

Hopefully the MRI goes well :scared:

For the first time this season, don't bump Finley.
He's getting a bionic knee put in and will be back after halftime. Bump Finley.
Really stale. Fried, actually. Yeah, I own JMF.
:scared: Seriously can we drop this tired schtick?
Right. It's all fine and good when he's healty and otherworldly, but now... let's get rid of it. How appropriate.
:pickle: Actually it was stupid before he got hurt as well.

As much as I want him to be healthy he really hasn't done anything. Keller has been a pleasant suprise for me.

SO happy Donald Lee got out of bed this morning.

Lee fumbles... Finley gets hurt on the play.

Then Lee scores a TD on a play that's usually designed to go to Finley.

:wall:

Whole lotta doosh bag in this thread...posting or making fun of injuries in the Shark Pool is not cool. If you want to do that just go ahead over to FF Today or whatever rock you crawl out from under.

You should have gotten the memo on this by now.

Agree. Guess the memo needs to be sent again though...From Sportsline (with "Finley could miss two weeks" as the header):Jermichael Finley, TE GBNews: The Packers official team website reports that TE Jermichael Finley, who was carted off the field Sunday in Week 5 at Washington, has injured a hamstring ligament and not a knee. He said he had a ligament pop out of place and is scheduled for an MRI on Monday. He was taken off the field in the first quarter and did not return, and he was on the sidelines with crutches. Finley told the website that he thinks the injury will keep him out a week or two and is not season ending. Finley came into the game with 21 catches for 301 yards and a touchdown on the season. He was injured when he tried to make a tackle on the second play of the game, after Redskins safety Kareem Moore picked up a fumble and returned it. "I was like, 'Should I really tackle this guy, because something crazy is about to happen?' In the back of the mind, I was like, 'I shouldn't do this.' And I went after it. And something in the back of my leg popped," Finley said.Analysis: We'll continue to keep you updated on Finley's injury heading into Week 6 against Miami, but it sounds like he will be out against the Dolphins. On top of Finley's injury, Aaron Rodgers (concussion) was hurt against the Redskins, and No. 2 TE Donald Lee (shoulder) also left the game. When healthy, Finley is a must-start Fantasy TE, but be prepared for him to miss the game against the Dolphins in Week 6.

:lmao:
Depends a lot on scoring. In my league, going into this week Keller was #2 with 41 points, Finley was #7 with 20.0 points.-QG
#7 is still a starting TE. To say he hasn't done anything is an ignorant statement.
If it's a TD-only league, it become a 5-1 advantage for Keller and the posty's comment makes sense.-QG

Thanks boss.I realize the SP holds itself to a higher standard because of the quality product that joe/david (and the rest of the staff) put out. However at the same time there is plenty of room for some lighthearted humor. Nobody died. Nobody's career is in jeopardy. Nobody went out on a limb with anything overly inappropriate that I saw. It's fantasy football. Lighten up.

Lots of subtext with the posts here. The "Finley is Superman" posts are funny (to me) when they're creative. I suspect many of the people who have suddenly become offended by them are Finley owners. Before the injury, those who hated them were likely Finley wanna-be owners.

Nobody is making fun of an injury. That's a lame card to play and a weak soapbox from which to share your disdain for those jokes. They're like the Chuck Norris jokes. Relax.

Yes, his owners took a zero. It's okay. Looks like it's not a long-term injury and he might miss a week or two. If you were counting on him, I understand not liking the prospects of replacing him. But please don't get high and mighty about the posting because it hurts your team.

And if you're NOT a Finley owner, then you have less of an excuse. You get the cop badge and the baton AFTER you graduate from police academy, not on Sundays on an Internet forum.

* I'm a Finley owner who also owns Calvin. I feel like the Packers, only with fewer wins. It's okay. You can laugh. This is supposed to be fun, you know?

I, for one, wasn't making fun of the injury or wishing ill will against him and really didn't think it was that serious - which is still doesn't appear to be. Seems a lot of Finley owners took a goose egg on him this week and that's what they are really upset about. I think most Finley owners enjoyed the Chuck Norris shtick while he was healthy so I don't see why it's so terrible to make a joke about it when it looks like a fairly minor injury.

For me, it's not the gooseegg. It's seeing he was injured during the game, coming to this thread to learn more about it, and then, instead of finding helpful information, seeing a ton of posts by people making fun of the fact he was injured before we knew the severity of the injury. If you want to justify that, fine, but IMO you are being willfully obstinate if you cannot understand why others would be annoyed with that attitude/behavior on a forum that generally does an awesome job of weeding out useful information.

This thread title needs to be IN ALL CAPS followed by many of these !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and these ??????????????????????????????????????

TIA

At least the "Bump Finley" teasing is limited to Finley topics. Before he was injured, Bump Finley's were showing up in topics that had nothing to do with Finley. Those teasing about the past game aren't being that bad considering how much pro-Finley spam there was, for instance so far there aren't any "Bump Finley" posts in the Aaron Rodgers concussion thread.

No offense, but it sounds like it's the goose egg for you. You were annoyed with that "behavior" because your team got sucker-punched two plays into the game. Nobody was making fun of the fact he was injured. They were riffing off a regular joke here. He wasn't motionless on the field with a circle of players praying for him. They weren't calling for an ambulance to rush him to the hospital. I'm sorry, but I can't help but think your ivory tower is related to the fact that your team was going to get a zero from a regular contributor.

Assuming your mouse has a scroll button, you'd have to measure the offense from this "behavior" in fractions of a second. Sure, I understand wanting the information and not having to wade through pages and pages of useless posts. But that's not what happened here. I came to the threads myself for the same reason. It wasn't overwhelming. I was able to get all the non-information just fine, and I pretty much expected to see some Chuck Norris-type references.

Maybe you honestly believe you'd be just as thin-skinned if it didn't affect your team, but really, I think it might have played a role. All of a sudden the Finley/Norris jokes are offensive? Please.

No, really, I was annoyed for exactly the reason I described.

And I didn't use the word "offensive." I used the word "annoying."

Admittedly, I wouldn't open a Player's injury thread in the middle of a game unless (1) I owned the player on a FF team, or (2) the player played for a Bay Area team (Niners or Raiders). But when I do open the thread, I'm hoping to see some information about the extent of the injury - not a bunch of failed comedians making fun of the injury. I get that you can't understand why that would be annoying, and the fact that you are attacking me for explaining something that should be fairly obvious to you is telling.

I think you're right. It is telling. It tells me that I don't let my fantasy team's troubles affect how I see threads, and you do. You did see some information about the injury. You also saw a few references to a common joke. I understand why it's all of a sudden not very funny to you. Maybe you feel like the laugh is at your expense, since your guy is the one on crutches. But that's not the case. It's not about the injury. It's just a joke. Now, maybe you have several examples of complaining about the Finley jokes BEFORE the injury. Maybe it's not a sudden problem for you. But it seemed like, now that your (and my) player is injured, it becomes a problem.

I do understand why it would be annoying. If you were upset that your team had to absorb a zero, and that affected your mood on the forum, it's a logical response. But really it should be no more or less annoying than it was Saturday. perhaps you've been carrying the banner for weeks now. If that's the case, I'm sorry for singling you out. But if this is the first time you've railed against it...I think it has more to do with your fantasy team's fortunes than how annoying it really is. Just my opinion.

well this thread deteriorated quickly - and rightly so - bump finley showed up in every other thread related to those unfortunate lesser mortals who's name was not jermicheal - so when the rest of us we're looking for info related to those players - we had to sift through bump finley jokes to get it - we laughed and it was funny - annoying - but funny - now that the exact same bump finley jokes is funny - brace yourself - in a jermicheal finley thread - its annoying for all the guys who were posting it in all the other threads - get over yourselves

how about we agree on this - bump finley is never used again anywhere?

How bout we just stick to infothat matters, and grow up and cut out the bump Finley ish.....Its stupid and has no meaning, considering he aint what the SP thought he was....1 td and yards thru a quarter of the season?....that is pedestrian at best and again shows the "Shark Pool" jumps on the flavor of the week amd over rates the value, and very rarly do we get information we can use....hence most of this useless thread. sure thtile makes it useful, all the content does not.

So back to the title in hand.....Finleys "Hammy", how is it?

Jermichael Finley, hamstring: Not to be confused with your standard hamstring strain or tear, Finley is dealing with a displaced hamstring, an injury that pops up about as often as you see a narwhal crossing the interstate, but has actually happened to the Packers' TE before. Finley is headed for an MRI on Monday and the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel isn't expecting him to play next week, but considering that this initially appeared to be a knee injury – and that he potentially may only miss one week – things could have been far worse.

The jist - possibly going on IR
The jist I got from that is it was written yesterday before they realized it was a displaced hamstring.
Let's hope. Getting mixed signals on this. Reports saying it's not a tear but Finley himself is worrying the hell of out of me. Since the injury he has been tweeting things like "pray for me" and "all things happen for a reason", the kinds of things that make it sound like he's concerned about more than just a minor injury. He last tweeted about 4 hours ago he was heading for an MRI.

I agree with you 100%...I was much more confident before those tweets. He is a bit of a drama queen so lets hope he is playing it up a bit

Listening to McCarthy press conference on radio now.

"Finley going to have knee surgery tomorrow morning. Not sure of the extent until they get in there. I'd be surprised if it was season ending but you never know."

Ugh.

Jermichael Finley, TE, Green Bay Packers Monday 10/11, 9:42 AM CT

The Packers are worried that a Monday morning MRI of Jermichael Finley's injured right hamstring could reveal a tear, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: He reportedly felt a "pop" when he went down on Sunday
