Firing of Fassel (1 Viewer)

Did a quick title search, surprised to see nothing turned up on this latest firing. I know the Ravens O is far from a sexy topic, but somebody had to do it.......

Anyway, what are thoughts on the Ravens O now that Neiuhisal, Neuheisal, er, Rick N. is calling the plays. Don't follow college football enough to know what kind of O he ran. More of a pass guy? Run guy?

Is he the kind of guy who will establish the run come hell-or-high-water, or is he going to chuck the rock?

I've liked what I've seen from Mark Clayton thus far, if Rick N. favors the pass, this could benefit him, esp. if Boller ends up taking the reigns at some point.

Thoughts?

I can`t believe Kyle Boller jump started the offense. McNair is shell shocked.
Agreed. Who would have thought that six games into the NFL season Boller & Harrington would represent QB upgrades. Sad day in the NFL.So are there any chances that Boller might supplant an uninjured McNair? I've seen a few Ravens games, and McNair looks like ####, misfiring on lots of passes, just skipping at his WRs feet. Boller looked like a competent NFL QB last Sunday, which is better than McNair has looked this year.

Boller now has 3 TDs in three of his last four games. But I think there's virtually no chance Baltimore starts him ahead of a healthy McNair; at least not while the team still has playoff aspirations. There's too much fan negativity around him, and McNair is supposed to be the franchise savior.

I'm thinking he will open the offense up, rather than grind it out. I sort of remember that sort of game from Colorado and Washington, but had to look it up.

His 2001 and 2002 teams (UW) posted records of 8-4 and 7-6 respectively, as criticism began to mount that the team was becoming less physical and playing more of a finesse style. Passing yardage records were routinely broken while Washington's running game fell off dramatically.
Further research suggests the same thing--that he will focus more on the passing game. He was a QB both in college and the pros, and his All-Americans seem to be entirely from the passing games:
Top Players Coached:

All-Americans: QB Troy Aikman (UCLA), WR JJ. Stokes (UCLA), WR Michael Westbrook (UCLA).

Second-team All-Americans: QB Kordell Stewart (Colorado).

All-Big 12 Performers: QB Koy Detmer.

All-Pac-10 Performers: WR Sean LaChapelle.

NFL Players (7): Aikman, Detmer, Vance Joseph, LaChapelle, Stewart, Stokes, Westbrook.

 Thanks, Glumpy, this is exactly kind of info I was looking for.

Based on this, I would like to redact my previous commentary re: Jamal Lewis in another thread. :D

IMHO Billick fired Fassel because he needed a scap goat and needs people to blame in order to keep his job - It is that simple. Neuheisal will suffer the same fate. Billick was originally hired with a reputation as a QB guru and has since shown he is nothing of the sort.

Did I miss something here? When Fassel got canned, it was announced Billick was going to call the plays, not Neuheisel. I'm thinking this means more of a return to some smash-mouth ball (making the big assumption here that Lewis is up to the job) rather that an opening-up of their offense. Billick also made some comments about wanting to run more and that he was disappointed with how few carries Lewis got against Carolina.
