Eric Decker, WR DEN

News: Rookie receiver Eric Decker is on schedule to join the Broncos for the start of training camp, provided he signs a contract by then. Decker, a third-round draft pick out of the University of Minnesota, is participating in Larry Fitzgerald's star-studded camp at the Golden Gophers' campus this week, running routes, catching passes and doing drills. It's something he hadn't been able to do since injuring his left foot in a game against Ohio State in October. Decker suffered a Lisfranc injury, a tear of the ligament that holds the first two toes in place. Lisfranc sprains involve a long, arduous rehabilitation with no guarantees of recovery, and the Broncos have taken it easy with him so far, hoping he'll be a full-go when camp starts. "I'm a little nervous and I'm anxious because I'm back to football, I'm back playing, I'm done in the training room and that's exciting to me," Decker said. "It's still a day-to-day thing and the training staff is helping me to move along and progress at a very good rate. I feel comfortable every day so that's the best I can say."

Former Vikings All-Pro receiver Cris Carter is calling out Sidney Rice for avoiding Larry Fitzgerald's summer camp this week.

"I don't know what it's like to have one good year and then disappear," said Carter. "That's on him. ... If I had that kind of impact on him he should have been here today." The grueling workouts at Fitz's camp have been credited as a major influence on Rice's breakout season in 2010. He's running out of time to report to this year's camp.

Dwayne Bowe arrived at Larry Fitzgerald's summer camp on Thursday.

Bowe's presence at the grueling camp is a pleasant surprise. He's shown more than a hint of character concerns early in his career, and he spent last season in coach Todd Haley's doghouse for arriving to offseason work significantly overweight. We're not convinced that Bowe is truly maturing, but he's at least showing increased dedication to his craft.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald has turned his hometown of Minneapolis into the summer hot spot for NFL receivers.

Fitzgerald is holding his annual camp that helps NFL players and some still in college prepare for the grueling training camps coming up next month.

He has managed to attract some of the biggest names in the sport, including Cris Carter, Jerry Rice, Greg Jennings and Brandon Marshall in the past. This year, Hall of Famer Michael Irvin came by to lend his advice while Green Bay tight end Jermichael Finley, New Orleans defensive back Malcolm Jenkins and Seattle rookie receiver Golden Tate are among those participating in drills.

Does it really matter who's attending Fitzgerald's workouts? I mean, I guess it's a good sign that these receivers are less likely to be out of shape and more likely to be trying to improve, but other than that, is there something I'm missing here?

A lot of the guys who have attended in the past have absolutely blown up the next season. Jennings was there the summer before his 80/1292/9 season, Sidney Rice was there before his 83/1312/8 season, etc. I doubt there's any magic to the camp that makes players have huge seasons, but I certainly think it's a good sign. Also, from what I've heard, Fitz's camp is tough with a capital T-O-U-G-H. Like, Jerry Rice's famous offseason regimen tough. Players pushing themselves so hard that they vomit and then immediately returning to the drills. If a player actually commits to it and goes through with it, it definitely shows an incredible commitment to improving.

I see, had no idea that it was as difficult as you're saying. I guess it could bode well for young players who might break out or who might have been previously unfocused like Bowe.
