I hate that place, but they have free wafers.
I think you should try them and formulate your own opinion. I was underwhelmed by the experience but it's still a pretty good burger. Fries are hit or miss, mostly miss but I'm a shoestring guy.
Rustic Canyon also has a ridiculously good burger. Hell Shangri La and Fraiche have great burgers. Living in SM has made me a bit of a burger snob, but what can I say, there is nothing like a great burger and sides (im looking at you cheesey tater tots from umami)'Nipsey said:

I've been to Rustic Canyon but didn't have the burger, will have to check it out. I forgot I had a Laurel tavern burger a few weeks ago. Another damn fine burger.
Cheeseburger and fries, no drink is 9.99 here with tax included. They should at least throw in a water ice.

There's an Apple-like cult around In N Out that I just dont understand. The burger is nice for fast food, but hardly something to crave. And the fries are ok if you hate the taste of potato. Been there. Found them to be very overrated. Biggest complaint was that I got ham on mine, and they just slap it on there cold, instead of frying it up a little on the grill.
It used to be such a great value. It's still an ok value, but the price changes were huge. I like that they offer a smaller version now, but it costs the same as the previous larger version. When my wife and I could each have a large burger, side, and drink for $20 total, it was worth the drive from Fairfax. Now I have to be in the area. I'll usually stop there on my way to a Redskins game.Burger Joint is where it's at now. They are quickly expanding.
I need to try BGR again next time I'm back in VA. We ate at the Arlington location shortly after it opened up. Just remember it wasn't worth the long wait.

I can always come back another time.Since you seem to like ham on your burger, BGR makes a good Cuban burger. It's my go-to. The Greek is also really good as is The Wellington. The Southwestern is...weird. Not really a burger, more of a sloppy joe consistency, but does have a pretty good kick (spiciness) to it.
Haven't been to the Hellburger in awhile. Love it (and Ray's the Steaks), but I hate parking in that area. Didn't realize the price increase, but that's a huge difference from when I was last there.I do like BGR.
That would be great, but probably just not worth it for them.That emulsified crap is so dirt cheap and I'd guess 90% of their customers greatly prefer it over cheddar. When most people think of cheeseburgers, they think of good old-fashioned American pasteurized process cheese food.
There is a small chain, called Boardwalk Burger, which claims to predate 5 guys, with a lot of their central elements. They were based in the Delmarva area. Their menu is slightly more expansive than five guys, you can get a wheat bun or a bacon bleu burger, but I will go their over five guys for the cheddar burger alone. Its not overall as good as five guys, but I've grown to hate American cheese. That's not food, its a consumable.

Lived off 11th and Montana, back alley from FO, I'm getting depressed, Florida is one of the worst places to find good cuisine unless you love seafood, which I do but this place pales compared to SoCal. Everything in Florida like the rest of the South is deep fried. Miss In N Out, Fatburger also a decent place, much better than most of the fast food joints and i would put them ahead of Five Guys. I like Five Guys best "fast food" burger and I have never heard any of the stuff or had any of the lighting issues/rest of the Yelp guys complaints. Maybe that is an LA thing, but I have been to Five Guys in Charlotte, VA when I used to live there and all the way up to NY and they are all relatively quiet and no one shouts stuff when we walk in. I haven't had to wait 5 minutes in line even with a stacked line, let alone one person taking 5 minutes.Its a good burger, not the best, but well worth it instead of going to any other "fast" location. I'll take Hellburger over BGR tho -- imo the Au Poivre/Danish Bleu/Bacon burger can't be beat!
For me, the trick is animal style. I can't tell you what I have against In-N-Out fries.... I just don't like them much by themselves.

Yes it does sound crazy when you put it that way but I truly don't see the fascination with In N Out and agree with dparker's anology. People from the WC just put it up there on a pedastal "OMG you haven't been to an In N Out, well then you are missing the best burger IN THE WORLD" (Iverson voice over) or act shocked if you don't like it.
