I have been looking at this for a while - and I wanted to know if anyone else thinks that we (including myself) have been overhyping the young RBs and underappreciating those that have been there for only a few years?...
Seems to me that only a few years back - Willis McGahee / Chris Brown / Justin Fargas were the hot commodities in [DYNASTY] rookie draft and were about to revolutionize the NFL... then came Steven Jackson / Chris Perry / Kevin Jones... Cadillac Williams / Ronnie Brown and Cedric Benson were only drafted last year! and many are already stating that Benson will be a bust - Cadillac will never be healthy...
This year Reggie Bush is the second coming of Marshall Faulk and Gale Sayers (don't get me wrong - he's a tremendous prospect)... Maroney will run for over 1,500 every year in his career...
If Maroney gains "only" 1,300 next year with 7 TDs... and then goes down to 1,150 and 5 TDs... I'm sure he'll get the same treatment as Willis McGahee nowadays... and it will be "how can you say that Maroney is your [DYNASTY] cornerstone when you have the chance to have Marshawn Lynch on your team?"...
You couldn't get Julius Jones even if you were willing to let your wife sleep with the owner you were dealing with at the beginning of last year... now, you have to offer a h00ker along with JJ for the other guy to get him off your roster... You know, that MBIII will certainly run for 1,800 yards given the chance...
Frank Gore might not be standing next to Tony Dorsett in Canton if he continues to fumble like this... It will probably be reserved to Michael Robinson...
Are we now living in such a "rapid" world that if the guy was excellent last year but just so-so this time around - we are jumping on the diaper dandy bandwagon?...
Why is everyone so high on potential?... because we think that the "next guy" will outperform every other guy that came along in the last 10 years?... only to be dissapointed that he didn't outperfom LT but only matched him?
Just a general discussion... and certainly ways to exploit this phenomenon in a buy low/sell high FF world...
